Today my altar holds two white pillar candles, lit for light. It holds my black candle for winter, which I will replace in due time with a gold one for summer. It holds my Hammer, lying parallel to the near edge and in front of the black candle. It holds my holey stone, sitting before my Hammer.

At the moment my altar has one glass and wrought iron offering dish, two beeswax candles, my pentacle made of willow and ash twigs, a large swan feather, my white handled jack knife, a vase of wild flowers I picked the other day and a few bundles of rosemary, basil and sage hanging above it to dry.

I don't currently have an altair set up, though I'm working on it. I have an area for it, just have to do everything else. I'm using a small freestanding bookshelf with three shelves.
I intend to use the top level for any work that I actually do, whether it be ritual work, spell work, or anything else.
The second shelf (middle level) is intended to be used for keeping stuff like candles, incense burner, etc., etc., in so they can be stored out of the way for everything else.
The third shelf (bottom level) is intended to be used for storage of books, and will more than likely have my Book of Shadows stored there as well.

My altar's sort of makeshift; it's the top of a shelving unit next to my window in my bedroom at home. I have a few candles, my runes, my Tarot decks, my stones (quartz, kyanite, tourmaline, pearl, ruby, cat's eye, and jade), my incense burner, and a sword my father made (I don't use it for rituals, it's more of a symbol). I also keep my path journal on it. I'm currently studying Uruz, so that's usually laid out at the front of the altar next to the sword.
Also, just did an impromptu exercise with my quartz; I drew it across myself in lines like I was cutting myself open and then envisioned all my negativity leaving like a smoke. It tired me out. Which makes me happy that I picked the quartz that I did.
And Uruz is difficult. I thought I would identify with it easily, but I feel like I only have an inkling of what it really means, like I'm missing something really important about it. It also doesn't help that I have no books on runes to guide me.

It also doesn't help that I have no books on runes to guide me. Uruz took me a LONG time. I can link you to my thoughts on it if you like, but I'll do it in the runes discussion thread or something rather than here. Books really are helpful.

My altar is kinda packed into my wardrobe at the moment because my house is being severly tidied up, and unless I want my family to throw out all my things I have to keep them in my room...

For now, my altar (like my life) is packable and portable.
Everything lives in this terrible little black crafts bag I repurposed from my beading projects. In it lie my bronze bell wrapped in a loooooong scrap that came from my absolute favorite dancing skirt. My simple little glass chalice wrapped in a black T-shirt. My found wand lying wrapped in paper with dried lavender picked from my friend's old garden. My large purple and blue batiked cloth (big enough to really be a top sheet on at least a twin bed) lies folded beneath these things. I have a singing bowl gifted from one of my best friends, a little wooden elephant with only one tusk, and a small charm I made when I was younger to represent Athena. Also an assortment of candles for various uses. Two little boxes with ribbons, boxes, and stones live separately.
My staff lives in a corner of my current room - winding and imperfect and lovely, made of maple and of a perfect height to rest my chin on when on my toes.
Soon, though never soon enough, I'll have my own space again, and for more than a crazy and fleeting instant. I'll finally get to have a real space and not a bag. Can't wait. crying

It's on my window sill, on the north wall. I have to keep it innocuous so my mom doesn't notice. But, I have a blue glass bird statue for Air, statues of Skhemet and Bast for fire, an old glass bottle filled with blue glass beads for water, and my collection of polished rocks and crystals for earth. I have a ton of other stuff there too, like my lamp and alarm clock. And Mew and Mewtoo and Doublecross. For me they sort of represent protection. Oh, and my light microscope case. And my wood zebra. I serves me well enough.

We have a shrine to her in the main room along with another Saint, a shrine to her sister, Ezurlie Freda, a shrine to Baron Samedi and a few others around the house that have stuff on them that I don't bother with.

All right, I wanted to put up pictures of my altar but I can't find my phone just now so I guess I'll describe it here. So my altar currently holds two etched and painted drinking horns, a short handled club hammer with a leather wrapped handle, my bag of runes, my oath ring, and the necklace I made for Freyja. All of this is sitting on a white linen cloth embroidered with a Thor's Hammer.
