This page of the thread is for posts where I'll post in RP format my characters pre-journey so as to get a nice idea of their history before starting on their journeys. Yeah, I am weird like that...But you can't really roleplay important, and usually fun, stuff like this in the first post of your journey in the starter town! So, hence...this page.

The school bell rang, signaling the end of another day at Violet City's Pokemon School. A young red-headed boy, no more than ten years old, scoured the hallways in search of someone among the vast sea of students trying to make their way to out of the building. He spotted her by the lockers - she was the spitting image of him; they had the same shocking, crimson-red hair, same deep blue eyes, and even nearly the same height (although he had at least a good inch or two on her). Even for fraternal twins, the similarities between them were striking.

The boy made his way over to his sister, a smile on his face and a slight skip in his step. She did not share the same elated mood, as she viciously stuffed unneeded school books into her locker with a scowl on her face. Not at all affected by her bad mood, he leaned up against the locker next to hers.

"What are you so happy about?" she asked bitterly.

"Isn't it obvious?" he retorted, his cheshire grin still plastered on his face. "How could you be in a bad mood today of all days? It's our birthday! We're ten today. Did you forget what that means?" How could she forget? Everyone knew that once a child turned ten, they could leave home and start a Pokemon journey if they wanted to. It was a milestone birthday, indeed.

"I'm just tired, Liam," she replied with a heavy sigh, slamming her locker door closed and slinging her backpack over her shoulders. "I'm tired of all this - going to school every morning, then going home just to have to do homework and listen to mom get on my case. I can't take it anymore!"

Liam was quiet for a moment, unsure really of how to react. Not because what his sister had said was any news to him, but because it didn't make any sense at all. His face contorted in a funny way as he tried to sort it all out.

"W-wait...I thought the plan was that once we turned ten, we'd set off on our Pokemon journey and get away from all this?" he reasoned. "So...I still don't see why you're so upset, Lottie."

Lottie gave her brother an exasperated sideways glance as the two made their way out of the school building along with the rest of the students who hadn't bolted out the door the second the bell had rung.

"I am excited about getting out of here, don't get me wrong," she clarified. "It's just...mom's gonna make such a big deal out of today! It's going to be the longest day ever...So I'm really in no rush to get home."

"You know, mom's just trying to look out for you. She means well. You shouldn't get so down on her all the time." Liam had no problem with either of his parents, but Lottie and their mother would fight like cats and dogs. And he and Lottie weren't even teenagers yet. Liam had gotten quite frustrated with it to the point that he decided to ask his father about it. A slight smirk appeared on his face as he recalled what his father had concluded about it.

"Dad says you and mom only fight because you're so alike," he repeated their father's words to his sister. She made a disgusted face at the prospect of her being anything like that woman. She didn't say anything, but her expression was enough to let Liam know he should just drop it. Liam rolled his eyes, giving up. He knew it was hopeless. Sometimes he wondered why he even tried.

The two siblings walked down the paved roads of Violet City. It was a beautiful place; all of the buildings were old-fashioned, including the homes in the city. It was a small place, though, having more of a small-town feel than that of a city. Still, it was quaint. The sun was bright today in the cloudless sky above. It was early afternoon, since the Pokemon School wasn't an all-day school like regular schools were. As they passed down the main street by the city's gym, they could see Sprout Tower, in all its glory, standing tall over the lake in the center of town.
