Rei was curled into a tight ball in the cold damp air of the basement in an abandoned warehouse. His breathing was rough, his skin bruised and it was more then obvious that he was in bad shape. His eyes slowly opened, he was tired, he felt increadibly weak. His throat was like sandpaper and his thirst was terrible. He ground his teeth a bit and tried to sit up. His muscles struggled, his body protesting his movements. He needed to get food in him. He needed water even more. He looked this way and that and realised that he was alone. The horned boy frowned. Where had Rex gone? He shrugged the rat would be back he always was. He slowly got to his feet and stumbled up the stairs. He moved out of the warehouse warily. Ready to turn and flee back inside. Last time he had gone out he had ended up being hurt. His ears down and his bangs covering his horn he sniffed the air lightly. He didn't have a great sense of smell but he was so hungry at this point that just naturally be able to smell what he was lacking.

Rex scurried alone, he like his owner was rather thin. Though he was in much better shape. He hurried alone in an almost fast movement for a rat. Though he was in no way running. He slipped through a broken basement window into the abandoned warehouse where he looked to the spot that Rei usually was. He paused sniffing the air in confusion and looking around. He squeaked as if calling for the other. But in the end settled into the dust free area created by the horned boys body.

Rei had been just standing in silence his eyes wide and his ears down. He had heard someone coming and looked over to where the light footsteps were coming from. He bit his lip and shuddered slightly. He was tense as the other boy came around the corner. He had ducked his head forcing his bangs to stay in front of his horn. His bare feet pressed against the cool ground, toes gripping the ground then stretching out. He chewed his lip as the other boy looked at him offered him something to eat. His ears slowly came forward, his nostrils flaring as he watched the apple. He wanted to reach forward and take it. He didn't though he ducked his head instead and took half a step back. He was scared, and his eyes clearly showed it. His body was bruised and battered and it was obvious from his loose clothing. He wanted to know where Rex was. He wanted to know who this was, he didn't understand. He didn't know who this person was. Or how he'd found him. His knees were bent slightly, then he slowly tilted his head. His body language changed a bit. He didn't know what to expect from this boy. But the smell of the apple was in his nose now. And his stomach continued to grumble almost loudly. He still didn't know where Rex was but he looked towards the door he had come out of.

The boy watched as the other set down the fruit and then the bag. He looked from the food to the other boy before moving over to the apple and picking it up, biting into it and holding it in his mouth. He pawed through the rest of the food in the bag and pulled out the bananas and carrots. He then sat down with the food in his lap. He chewed through the apple, eating everything but the stem. Including the core. He started on the banana and then the carrots, his ears perked forward to look up at the other. He managed a smile then as the other spoke to him. He wiped away the fruit juices that had gathered. He blinked a bit, looking a little brighter a little more aware. A little less tired. His head was tilted. He wasn't the best speaker he was lacking much of a regular child's vocabulary. He offered a faint smile though as the other offered him a home. His ears pricked forward. His hair slowly drifted from his forhead exposing his small sharp horn. He frowned then trying to remember the words he was searching for. "F....friend?" He asked pointing at Lorcan and frowning thinking he had found the right word. He was surprised when a weight was dropped onto his shoulder only to feel the familiar paws of a small furry creature he knew all too well. He reached up and picked Rex up, petting the rat and smiling down at him. He slowly got back to his feet. He was small in stature and build but still taller then the six year old in font of him. He placed the rat back on his shoulder and picked up the food bag. Offering it back to the other boy.

((brb supper. I might be an hour or too I've got to do a little work. ))

Rei's smile brightened when the other confirmed that they were infact now friends. He was glad. He hadn't ever had anyone othe then his mother and Rex. And he didn't know where his mother was or if she was even still alive, all of that was a bit beyond him though. The boy wasn't stupid, just uneducated and wild. He was very much a feral animal. Wild to his core but he was like any other animal and saught out companionship. He hated being alone. He was very much a 'herd' person. and by default that left him exposed and frightened while he had been alone for so long. As he listened to the other he nodded and looked at Aria. The horse like boy didn't see why the other would be hated for something so....simple. It was a cool ability. This boy before him and given life to the tiny creature. It was amazing. It was impossible. It was exactly what people felt about both of the young creatures that stood facing each other. The small boy began to follow his new friend. He thought it was cool what the other could do. He sort of wished he could do that. He pointed to himself. "I Rei." he said "But Mama call me Miles" he said, sometimes pausing to think of words or to frown at one he couldn't quite seem to remember. It had been over a year and a half since he had last tried to hold up a conversation and obviously his speech abilities had suffered from the lack of effort.

Rei followed the other boy, staying a few steps back from him and petting Rex as they approached the large home. He paused before the other boy had even stopped. It was so big, he didn't think he had ever seen a larger house. He looked over at Scout and tilted his head. "Mama?" He repeated. He touched his pointed ears "Like me!" He announced with a smile. Though his mother's traits had been much different from her son's she had shared the pointed ears with him. She hadn't had them like her son did. Her's hadn't been so extreme but the similarity had been there. She had had his running ability as well. But he was the only one with a horn to show for the more aggressive side of the combination of DNA. He nodded though. "I think he did bad things to my mama too." He said honestly. He then seemed to become a little scared again, he slunk behind the other boy and looked around him to look at the woman who had approached them. He was scared despite her caution. He had been attacked by people her size and height, never by someone Lorcan's height. Thus the difference between the two. He seemed tensed again and ready to run. He blinked at her a bit unsure of what to make of her. She didn't look like his mama. She didn't have anything odd about her and he saw no powers that might have been hers. He was on edge because she was like all of the people who had every really hurt him. His small horn was still peaking through his strawberry bangs.

Rei still felt frightened as he didn't know what to think of this woman. He wanted her to just leave him be. He didn't see anything that this could swing in his favor. But he was still hungry and Lorcan had brought him food before. Thus he was still around and apparently wanting to stay. The small boy squinted at the huge home as the other two moved towards it. He stayed where he was standing just outside the main gate. He was wary of this, he was wary of anything new. His mother had taught him not to trust strangers. And the rule had been in forced by the pain inflicted by those he didn't know. Thus his lack of trust but the other boy was his friend and he wouldn't hurt him right? So if that was the case then the other wouldn't let this woman hurt him.... or so he thought he was unsure. He wasn't good with other people. His ears twitched a bit as what she had said sunk in. He didn't have to ever go near her but he could stay with them anyway? That meant food, shelter and rest. Something he could go for right about now. He looked down at his bruised hand twisting it to face him and looking at his palm which was scratched and bloodied. He had done his best to patch himself up but all he had had available was water from a nearby pond. Not exactly the cleanest or best method for accomplishing what he needed done.

Rei finally decided that he would indeed go inside. He walked in quietly, following the others, his feet light against the ground. He walked inside the door shying to the side a bit and looking up at the woman. His eyes were a bit wider then usual mostly from the new 'world' around him. This new place was amazing and it was making him react in such ways to it. He kept moving, moving a little bit away from the woman again and looking around the place. It looked even bigger from the inside. Rex who was perched on his shoulder soon buried himself in the others hair. Hiding from the world and looking for some rest.

Rei looked over at Lorcan when he looked back at Niccele and then around again. He looked rather curious when he came to his new surroundings. One had to remember that he had only every really been around his mother. She had taken him from his father while he was very young, at the first signs of his horn and pointed ears. He had never really been socialized and adults were bigger then him and had already proved themselves capable of hurting him. Other children had never offered that trouble to him. He smiled nervously at Lorcan when the other offered him a smile. He glanced around again and tilted his head. He had eaten more then his fill already but he also wasn't overly tired. One thing he had done a lot of was sleeping. It was hard to do much else when ones body was so lacking in what it needed to function. All activities stopped really, including getting up and really moving which meant as soon as his body burned off this meal he had eaten he would be up and moving with more energy then he had in weeks. He blinked rolled his shoulder and tilted his head. "Not sleepy.... Or....uh...hungry." He said offering a smile. He looked wide awake and almost playful. His eyes were brighter then they had been.

He looked up at Aira and stared at her tiny hand he grinned had held his own hand up to her, shaking her hand carefully. He reached over his shoulder and picked up Rex, drawing him out of his hair. "Rex" He said holding the rat out to Aira and Lorcan. He held the rat in one hand lightly petting him. He loved his rat, and really wished that perhaps Rex had a home too. A bed, playthings. Stuff like that. He had noticed the almost sad look that Niccele had worn on her face. He felt a bit bad but he still felt scared of her. She could win him over eventually, earn his trust but it would take a little time. A couple of days, a few weeks maybe. But he didn't put a time limit on it. There was no point. He wondered what there was to do around here. Games to play. He liked ball games. his mother had always liked basketball. He wasn't particularly good at it. But he did enjoy it. He had never seen a tv or game console. He was still rather naive when it came to the world.
