so, i just bumped into an AWESOME series. biggrin
it's called The Promises of Dr. Sigmundus, by Brian Keaney. smile
i read the last book in it at the library, without having even heard of the series yet, and fell in love with it. i'm gonna read the whole series begginning to end now, when i get the chance. smile it's quite wonderfull.
it's got this whole spiritual philosophy in it, almost like it was a showcase of someone's religious beliefs or something. it has bodilly possesions, time-distortions, astral projections, mind-control, myths/legends coming to life, and telepathy! it's great!

I just finished reading The Empress's Will by Tamora Pierce. Great book. It's the ending of a series. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars out of 5.

I haven't quite finished it yet, but a Field Guide to Otherkin by Lupa is a very good (non-fiction) reference to otherkin culture. It's helping me understand the community alot better.

Only in that they occur, most are apparently organised through the various networking sites.
Apparently some otherkin dress up as their kin-type and toddle off to things like Comic-con to meet up.

aye, that would make sense. i still have my eyes set on Burning Man though. more about Alternative Lifestyles and Pagan religions than Otherkin, but those are where most Otherkin happen to be found anyway.
anywho, i discovered James Wyatt's Draconic Prophesies series (again reading the last book in a trilogy. xp ), and it certainly is pretty ******** epic. smile i'm still reading it, but it's great! ^.^ it's got intrigue, excitement, action, drama, mystery, suspence, and great points for philosophical consideration/discussion.

i have been trying to remember thisone for a long time. we got teh series back in our house now again, after years, so i was able to read it. xd
it's Madeline L'Engle's "Time Quartet" series!
the first book is "A Wrinkle In Time", a wonderfull and exciting Sci-Fi adventure/mystery.
next is i think "A Swiftly Tilting Planet", followed by "A Wind In The Door". they are interesting sequels, gives you a coolio look at the world...
finally, "Many Waters", where the twins find themselves in a prehistoric desert.... the plotline quickly becomes interesting, and i won't spoil it for you. wink
all in all, these books have been some of my favourites for litterally almost a decade.

I just read the latest Black Jewels novel (Shalador's Lady), and I'm still uberly impressed with Anne Bishop, the sense of justice in her world is one I really like. Plus I was happy to see the sceltie's again, I do so love the kindred. biggrin

Ah, the Black Jewels novels. wink
I would like to recommend the 12 Houses series by Sharon Shinn. Very well done and enjoyable. Twi, you'll get a kick out of the theology--or rather what has been forgotten and is trying to be reclaimed.
Ura, if you ever read this thread and if you get a chance, I think you'd like them and could relate to them. They're long, but you remind me of one of the characters. Cammon is a reader (empath, psychic, whatever you'd like to call it) and he's pretty much a nameless, pennyless ragamuffin that is adopted by the most powerful fire mystic of the realm and her friends. He's so sweet and endearing and darlingly innocent, and he really reminded of you. By the end of the series, he finds true love in the most disastrous of places and saves the kingdom. I really loved reading/watching his heart grow and expand from the shy little thing he was, working for an abusive tavern keeper in the first book, to unsung hero of the war AND future King of the realm with so many close but wildly different friends.

Yeah, these are some good books. Mystic and Rider, The Thirteenth House, Dark Moon Defender (personal fave of the 4) and Reader and Raelynx.
