The water should have been shallow. But Alderpaw couldn't get a footing. It only seemed like the darkness sucked her down. "Weaselpaw!" she tried to screech. All she got was a mouthful of dirty water.
Snowpaw padded back to the place where Alderpaw and Weaselpaw once were. Hissing with disgust and defeat, he swatted the prey he had picked a few mouse lengths away, recieving a grumpy glare from a nearby elder. Firleaf made his way over to him. "Having trouble?" the older Tom laughed, "I had my share of trouble with she cats. Alderpaw's the oldest apprentice, and Weaselpaw is right behind her. It only makes sense that she would like him. But there's someone else who might appreciate your attention." He flicked his tail towards Mossypaw before leaving.

Panicing Weaselpaw struggled around until he felt Alderpaw and grabbed the brown she-cats scruff hoping he would be able to sapport them both. 'Starclan help us!' his mind cryed.
Mossypaw yawned as she padded back to her bush and plopped down with a lazzy sigh; her green eyes parted as she stared at a beetle that tryed to flee from the coming storm. Its shinny black back cought her attention as she reached her forpaw foward and dabbing the tiny insect and finding amusment in it.

Bluekit curled into her empty nest. Her siblings had gone off, and her mother was out hunting, so that left only her. She slid easily into sleep, but that was abruptly changed when she was covered in murky water, exauhstion claiming her mind, and numbness her limbs. She tried to look about, spotting the pelt of another cat she immeadiately recognized as Weaselpaw, who she had seen talking to Alderpaw only moments ago. Her paws flailed out in from of her and she recognized the light brown paws of Alderpaw. Bluekit was suddenly thrust out of the horrifying situation. Help them....only you can.... The voice whispered around her, seemingly blend in with the trees. But she didn't bother with where it was coming from, she had to save them! SHe ran to the first person she knew would help. "Starlingsong!!" the blue she-cat yowled dashing into the medicne den. Then it hit her, the medicine cat was gone! She rushed out of the den in panic, accidentally barreling right into Dovestar, who had come to see what all the racket was. "Dovestar! Alderpaw and Weaselpaw are drowning! Down by the lake! You have to hurry!" Bluekit mewled. Dovestar narrowed her eyes at the tiny kit, and then turned to find Honeyfrost. "Grab some warriors and head to the lake shore, quick." she commanded. Turning back to the tiny kit she said, "Show me where." Bluekit led her through the forest. In reality, she had never been to this place. But in the back of her head, a small voice was telling her exactly where to go. She stopped before a wall of bushes, and splashes could be heard beyond. Dovestar started towards the bushes, but Bluekit's voice stopped her. "Don't go. THe water is deep on the other side. You'll have to clear the bush or find a good swimmer." she spoke calmly, surprising herself. She certainly didn't feel calm. Dovestar began to pull at the bush with her teeth, clawing every so often. Bluekit felt relief wash through her at the sight of the patrol. An urgency suddenly swept her off her paws. "You have to hurry! They can't hang on much longer!" Bluekit commanded. They quickly moved the bush and pulled the two apprentices out of the water. She watched Alderpaw sputter and then begin to breathe normally, but there was no sign of movement from Weaselpaw.
Alderpaw gave in to her exauhstion and could feel herself sink lower. The feeling of a warm breeze on her fur jolted her awake. She was sitting in a pretty grassy feild, with four giant oaks surrounding a rock. "Anyone?" she questioned, "Weaselpaw?" She bristled at a sudden voice from behind her. "Hello, young one." Spinning around she identified the speaker as a tortoiseshell she-cat. "Who are you? Am I dead?" she asked. "No," she laughed, "You are very much alive. It is not your time yet." Alderpaw blinked, "Then why am I here?" "So many questions for such a young warrior." she replied. "Well maybe I wouldn't have as many if you'd answer them." Alderpaw snapped. She instantly felt guilty. The look on the she-cat's face hadn't shifted or given. She was still happy. "My name is Spottedleaf. You are in StarClan's meadow. You were given a purpose by StarClan. You are important. But for now, try to remain safe. We cannot risk loosing you." And with that the starry Spottedleaf faded away, and Alderpaw felt herself coming back to reality. Her pelt was soaked and everything in her body seemed to ache. "Take her back to camp. SHe needs immeadiate attention from Starlingsong." a voice said. It was Dovestar. "I've made sure she was back at camp." another voice replied. She recognized Grovepaw. "What about Weaselpaw? Is he going to be ok?" Bluekit's tiny mewl was heard. "I don't think he made it." a voice Alderpaw couldn't name whispered. That's when her eyes shot open. "NO! Don't take me away from him! He's not dead!" she tried to screech, but it only came out in gurgled words and panted breaths. She saw his soaked body laying peacefully on the grass. Her special moment was cut off like that. Before she could try anything else, her mind slipped into unconciousness, the swirling black void of nothingness a sweet relief of reality.

Pepperfoot mewed as she nosed her apprentices soaked flank; her eyes narrowed with agony as her apprentices sides barely raised and fell. "Come on Weaselpaw, wake up" she pleaded, just eariler they had been hunting for the elders, happy, healthly and alive. The black-and-cream tom's side shudered once before his sides fell still and his mentor leaned her head back and wailed mournfully, she had lost another apprentice. Honeyfrost moved to the speckled she-cat and pressed her body agaisnt hers trying to comfert her, Antleg blinked swollenly at the tom as he turned to look at at Dovestar "W-What happened?" he demmanded than turning his anger on Bluekit. Mossypaw watched the cats brusting out of camp and wondered what had happened, her green eyes narrowed as she waited to see the patrol slipping back into camp.

Bluekit flinched at Antleg. "I don't know! I had a dream and someone told me that onlu I could save them!" she explained. She realized what a toll the experience had taken on her. And she'd need to be there when Alderpaw came to.

Antleg glared at Bluekit as he flicked his tail "I'll take her back to camp" he didn't wait as he began to lead the way back to camp thinking about Pepperfoot and her lost apprentice Weaselpaw. Pepperfoot whimpered and pressed her head agaisnt the wet toms fur as she muttered something under her breath. Mossypaw gasped when she saw Honeyfrost carrying Alderpaw towards Jayhearts den "Oh no" she muttered and was on her paws, hurrying towards them "What happend?" she asked the ginger she-cat who looked at the apprentice calmly "Alderpaw and Weaselpaw... got hurt" she watched the she-cats green eyes darken "Wheres Weaselpaw?" she demanded and looked around knowing the worst had probably happened.

Bluekit followed Antleg, her ears flat.
Dovestar turned to one of her warriors. "Carry his body back to camp. Keep Alderpaw in the medicine cat's den to. This is the last thing she needs now."
Starlingsong took one look at Alderpaw and flicked her tail at the nest. "Alderpaw?" She questioned the she-cat, "Alderpaw listen to me." The light brown apprentice openned her eyes into narrow slits. "I want you to eat this mixture." Alderpaw licked it up. "What did you give her?" Dovestar questioned from the entrance. "Dovestar, please come in. I gave her a mixture of thyme leaves for shock and poppy seeds to help her sleep. When she wakes up i'll give her some chamomile. She's going to be devistated when she wakes up." "She will be, but she is strong." and with that Dovestar left.

The warrior dipped his head to his leader and bent down, helping Pepperfoot carry her apprentices body back to camp. Mournful masks on their normally happy go-lucky faces. Mossypaw turned to see Pepperfoot and the warrior pushing their ways into camp, Weaselpaw between them. The torotieshells she-cats dark green eyes widdened with horror as she pushed towards them, the rested his body in the center of camp and moved back to allow his closet friends forward. Honeyfrost looked away ashamed that she could not have saved the black-and-cream tom who had bravly given his life to protect Alderpaw, he was so close to getting his warrior cermony as well and gave it up for the brown she-cat.

"Antleg? Are you angry with me?" Bluekit asked.
Timberkit sat silently next to Mossypaw, his eyes saddened. Weaselpaw would have been a wonderful friend, and he hated seeing Mossypaw upset. He buried his nose into her soft fur.

Antleg sighed deeply "Not you Bluekit" the tom admited as they drew nearer to camp, his eyes sad "Just at starclan" his claws unseathed into the soft earth "I dont understand why they take cats that are so young" the ginger tom muttered. Mossypaw felt Timberkit and felt grateful for the younger tom "Thank you Timberkit" the gray she-cat muttered and pressed up agasint him.

"We'll make it through this." he whispered to Mossypaw. Timberkit curled up next to her and relaxed in the moonlight.
Bluekit blinked. "It was not StarClan who took Weaselpaw. They didn't want him to leave the plane of the living. That's why they warned me. Otherwise both apprentices would have been lost." she explained.

Mossypaw sank onto her stomach before the black-and-cream toms body and pressed her nose into his fur, they had been friends since they were in the nursery toghter, she wanted him to be happy and never wanted to see the day he passed onto starclan. She felt Timberkit next to him "With you at my side" she mumbled. Antleg looked suddenly dark "How do you know Bluekit" he suddenly spun around and shoved his nose into his face "How do you know the whim of starclan? are you the medicine cat apprentice? This seems to set up to be from starclan!" his eyes blazed.

Bluekit flinched again at the tom. "I-I think it's my power." she felt sure of this, "StarClan can speak to me, and I can speak to them." You're special....use your gift to help others....
