[Icy_Mike14-1.2] Duo__Maxwell I play on xbox live a lot so people hear my voice...
I've had a lot of "are you british" comments... then they barrage me with "go drink some tea", "have some crumpets" and my personal favourite, "british!!!!"
I mean, what an insult... rolleyes Oh my gosh if i played xbox live with you i'd be all like: "Cool, a Brit!" personally, i'm a brit tooo, because my uncle is cool I love to have a good laugh on xbox live when i fake a british accent, ANd people will be alll like: "What the hell is that?" or "Are you sick, dude?"

Duo__Maxwell You mean you think the world has realised we exist?
So it's more of an 'oh, wow, some thing totaly new!' that causes people to make such a deal out of accents and foreign (to them) lingo.
Personaly, I enjoy hearing the British accent but I keep such thoughts to myself while around the speaker. No need to be rude, embarassing or make an idiot of myself.
One more thing; I know that tea is just a stereotype, so I'm not to surprised to read that someone (Llama fishin for a lemon) doesn't like it. I must admit though that I adore tea. Straight, strong Earl Grey, Lady Grey or Ceylon are my favorites. I usualy get the Twinings brand.

Well, I am not surprised when I meet someone from Britain, seeing as my family is from there. I've also had a stereotype come to me from my English teacher from last year. Because my family and most of the people at my church don't drink cold drinks (he went to my church) he always said,'You English hate your ice.' and things such as that.

I have to say, I think I probably get more stereotype assumptions levelled at me than most - and it can't help to sounds like a young Ben Fogle. neutral
My Chemistry teacher described me as 'quintissentially British'.
Too bad I'm French.

I personally don't understand it myself. I guess when he went to England he never got a drinnk with ice in it. It baffles me.

1-4 units a day at uni, nearer 6-8 at the end of the week.
Only once or twice a week at home, though.

Shifts Anyone else here know anyone from a foriegn counrty who talks to you like this? 'But you british are posh and drink tea all the time' neutral yeee *strange people*
Sometimes it's annoying, but now that they know me they no longer say it.
But some people have actually asked me if I'm obsessed with tea. I laughed. Also, there's the hilarious question of "what is a loo". That one always gets me laughing. It's amazing how some people are so oblivious. But then again, some of my friends know everything there is to know about England. Once this girl actually started talking to me with a cockney accent. It was quite funny.

I do find 'Britisher' stereotypes incredibly annoying, especially the 'tea' and 'yellow teeth' thing. My dental hygeine is fine, thankyou very much. However, I understand that us english have our own stereotypes of american people, so we can't really complain.
