HoroTheUnwise Sri Iskander Similar to the capitalist thread. wink Come ask the Guild's token anarchist anything. What type of anarchist? Dunno, really. sweatdrop I tend to shift my position slightly on various issues as I learn new things, and I'm not overly well read on "formal" anarchist theory (ie: the stuff old guys before me wrote). I've just described myself as a pirate anarchist for a while. I feel it's fairly appropriate, since I take a lot of inspiration from the old pirates.

I've made clear what parts of piracy I've taken inspiration from, and I feel no need to parrot their entire way of life just because I like some of their ideas. I also happen to like some Muslim ideas, but I'm not going to convert because of that. I take inspiration from Buddhists, Jews, Pirates, Muslims, Hindus, Cappies, Commies, other Anarchists, and a wide array of sources. Now if you're actually going to ask a question, or try to argue about my ideology (rather than trying to imply that because people before me did douchebag things, then my ideology will also encourage douchebag things), then go ahead. If not, admit you have no ground to stand on, and walk away with some dignity.

Herobane Norm of Okinawa Herobane Gracchvs Robespierre You should totally rename the thread "Ask Herobane jr. Anything." Because really, that's what you are, an impulsive psuedo communist. :3 I'm hurt and offended that you'd compare me to an anarchist. I'm capable of logic in politics, therefore setting me above them wink Anarchy rolls the d 20 to see if it hits you with fail.... better luck next time, I suppose, but just for lulz, roll your reaction, you impulsive psuedo communist As for my question, in a post capitalism fail society, where anarchy truly reigns supreme (as there are no other conceivable outcomes XD) how will barter take place? Who will regulate how many goats are traded for shotgun shells? WHo asked for your opinion? Sit back down in the corner. This is the mentality I have faced with near half the active guild members, it's really ******** annoying. I come in here to read something and I get insulted consistantly. Makes me wonder why I do come here.

Rather than say 'because people who agreed with you did bad stuff, so will you' my point is that they did 'douchebag things' because of their ideology. But as I've said in other places: You are not an anarchist. Anarchists have a rather specific definition for the state, and you don't use it. Instead, your practical understanding of the issue of revolution, at the very least, is very close to ours. I really think you should read some of the basic communist and anarchist works so you can really see just how close you are to us, and how far away away you are from them. At least as far as the practical issue of the revolution and securing it is concerned.

Actually, when you say 'anarchist' to a communist, they equate it with Proudhon, Bakunin, Kropotkin, and Emma Goldman. So you'll have to forgive me for assuming some level of ideological coherence and knowledge from someone who claims to a particular ideology, and for my blatant and idiotic assumption that someone who claims to Anarchism would have at least a little knowledge of... well, anarchism. But I shouldn't be surprised, really. The Anarchism that has sprung up since the seventies has almost no personal, organisational or ideological ties with pre-ww2 Anarchism, and just seems to be some pathetic, if completely understandable, repulsion from the compromising and social crimes of the Social-Democrats and Stalinists. And to make you shut up about questions: Why do you call yourself an anarchist if you have no connection to classical anarchism besides hatred of the word 'state'?

Sri Iskander HoroTheUnwise Sri Iskander Similar to the capitalist thread. wink Come ask the Guild's token anarchist anything. What type of anarchist? Great you can substantiate a group by stealing off a larger population, and not really do much but services; and making no goods. So, is going back to tribes helps us, how?

Great you can substantiate a group by stealing off a larger population, and not really do much but services; and making no goods. So, is going back to tribes helps us, how? I don't even know what the ******** you just said. Some attacks, and then a question about something I've never even mentioned. But, sure, I'll deal with a tribe question. Firstly, how are we not already in tribes? Life brings us into contact with a great many people, but I srsly doubt you actually care about each and every one of them. No. Human psychology is built around a smaller group of familiar faces who we remember, who we care about. Human social life is built around tribes (we're fond of calling them cliques now), so is human political life (movements and nations), and even human philosophical life (the isms, etc). Stupid tribalism, with racism, classism, sexism, and other nasty things, is stupid. Lol. But so is any social organization that has those things. The goal isn't to kill tribalism, but to kill the nasties. razz Now, as for my personal ideology, politically I call for a great deal of comradeship. If you'd like to know about my actual political leanings/preferences, all you have to do is ask. wink

Just like commies have all their little groups and sub-groups, so does anarchy. You wanna know about mutual cooperation? Self government? Participatory democracy? Those movements I can tell you about. You want to know about some other group(s)? Go ask people who declare themselves to be a Proudhon-Anarchist. Or whatever they'd call themselves. Quote: But I shouldn't be surprised, really. Pathetic how? Quote: And to make you shut up about questions: Why do you call yourself an anarchist if you have no connection to classical anarchism besides hatred of the word 'state'? I don't hate the word State. And my ties are to more modern anarchism. Believe it or not, movements can change over time. I wasn't overly interested in old commie writers, either. I find the old writings to be dry and uninteresting, honestly. There's only a few that I can actually sit down and read with any level of interest.
