"My brother's granddaughter is fetching another companion of mine. She should be returning within the next few days. Please, my friend. Make yourself comfortable. You have free reign to wander where you want. It has been a while since you were last here..." He smiled at Vorastrix. "If you need anything, ask. There are other things I need to attend to... ah!" He motioned to something, looking over Vorastrix's shoulder. "Estel, tolo hi."
A young boy comes running up to the two older males and starred in awe at Vorastrix. "You're the wizard they call 'Hidden Daggers' aren't you?" He grinned eagerly and bowed. "I'm Estel... Uh. I mean..." He saw a slightly displeased look on Elrond's face. "Estel eneth nîn."
Elrond nodded in approval of the boy's change in behavior. "If you need anything, my friend, call on Estel. I'm sure he is willing to help you."
*************
"Suilaid, Ohtar en Orod," She had bowed her head slightly as he greeted her and gently tugged on Elenion's reins to follow this man. "I am Adonneniel. Thank you for offering me sanctuary."
Once inside the cave that served as this man's home, she began tending to her horse, removing the burdens and drying him off from the snow that had stuck in his fur, mane, and tail. Once he was settled in for the stay, Adonneniel allowed herself a small amount of food and drink.
"As for why I am out on this venture, sir, it is a request from my lord to find someone, who, like yourself, resides here in the mountains." She thought for a moment, taking a sip of the wine he had offered. "Perhaps you may have at least heard of him...My lord said his name was Beriothien."

Jolan had taken a seat at the dinner table, sipping on a small flagon of elvish ale as he listened to her. Upon mentioning the name 'Beriothien.' he froze for a second, his memory jogged by the name. He seemed a bit unnerved by the name but he quickly regained his composure.
" I see. You seek a guardian here in these mountains. There is not much in these parts but cave trolls and goblins. I am the only person who lives up here. Everyone else is not brave...or in some cases as foolish as I."
He rose out of his seat, heading over toe the fireplace. He kneeled down next to the fireplace, taking a poker the side of the fireplace. He poked the logs a bit, shifting them to provide more heat and light to the cave.
" It has been a very long time since Elrond and Galadriel have called upon me. I owe them my life. Im uireb lîn mellon, gwador, en berio."
He appeared very depressed, as if a demon he had been hiding from had found him again. He pulled a small platinum medallion out of his pocket and stared down at it for a moment.
"I had wished they would never need me again. Why is it Elrond has sent you to find me?"

Vorastrix smiled and nodded. "I would certainly love to look around. I always have loved this city and would love to see it once more." He said before Estel ran up to them. Vorastrix waved to the younger boy as he listened. He nodded at his question. "Yes it is true. I am Vorastrix the Black, otherwise known as Hidden Daggers. It is a pleasure to meet you Estel." He looked back to Elrond. "I certainly shall my friend. Please let me know when your other guest arrives. I wish to meet him as soon as I can." He smiled before walking off, knowing the young boy was going to follow. "So Estel is it? I am honored to be known by one so young." He said to Estel, using his staff as a walking stick again. "If it isn't too much trouble, perhaps you could show me around? It has been a long time since I've been here and it has changed to a degree." He said, observing the land and noting a few changes. He knew his way around handily but the young boy seemed so excited around him, he didn't want to seem rude at all.

The boy grinned wider and explained everything (to the best of the 7 year old's knowledge). As they came to an area that looked like a shrine of sorts, Estel stopped and starred into a doorway that led to a darker, enclosed room.
"I, uh... I'm not really supposed to be over here until I'm older, but if you want to keep looking around here, I'll wait over here..." He began to walk away, his eyes showing he had great curiosity for this area, but his respect for the rules set in place by Elrond outweighed that curiosity.
From within the enclosed room, Vorastrix can see a faint glimmer of firelight being reflected by something metal...
********** Adonneniel could sense his unease. She starred at the man's back, slowly putting her words together. After a moment she took a few steps closer to him. "Forgive me. Had I realized you were the one I sought, I would not have been so blunt..." She knelt behind him and sat back on her feet. "As for why Lord Elrond asked for you, I do not rightfully know. I do know that there is something happening in the world, and he believes you can help." Her pale blue eyes focused on the back of his head. "If I am not overstaying my welcome, I would like to stay for the night so Elenion may recover his strength. I leave in the morning to return to Rivendell. If you choose to come with me to discover what Elrond wants, that is your choice. You need not to decide now." She stood and knelt not too far from where Elenion stood, asleep. A faint glow began to show from underneath her clothes in the shapes of ancient elvish runes.

Jolan was silent for a moment. He placed the poker next to the fireplace, and then rose, turning to face Adonneniel.
" You may rest in the guest quarters just beyond the door near the kitchen. I'll ensure that Elenion is well taken care of in the meantime while you rest. I'll guide you back out of the mountains tomorrow morning, hopefully this snow storm will have subsided by then. No galu govad gen. Good night Adonneniel."
He took a seat near the fireplace, relaxing into the chair.

Vorastrix listened eagerly to the child and was surprised by his knowledge of the area for his young age. When they came upon the chamber with the dark enclosed room, his curiosity was peaked. "Yes I think I shall take a look inside. I shall return momentarily." He said to the child as he stepped inside of the room. Seeing the faint glimmer, he stepped closer to it, though not too close. He examined the metal until he realized what it was and his eyes grew wide. "...Narsil.." He muttered to himself as he stared at the broken sword. "It is an honor.." He muttered once again, staring at the legendary sword.

"Estel was very cunning to bring you here. I believe he hopes for you to tell him what resides here..." A younger she-elf stepped out from behind the statue that held the shards of the blade. Her long ebony hair fell down to her mid back and her bright blue eyes focused on the young looking wizard. "Forgive me. We have not been properly introduced. I am Arwen Undomiel. But you must understand, he cannot know until he is older. It would be too much of a burden for one so young. Vorastrix the Black... I would like for you to keep what resides here a secret." She tore her eyes away from Vorastrix and focused on the blade. "...Renewed shall be the blade that was broken. The crown-less again shall be king..." It was slowly becoming clear, with her reciting the last bit of an ancient prophecy, that she was not talking about just the blade...
********************
She turned her head and slowly stood back up, the glowing fading from her body. With a soft smile, she made her way to the the guest quarters. "Gen hannon. Rest well, brave warrior..."

"There there Elenion. Im gelir ceni ad lín. Avo 'osto. I Anor hílol."
Jolan was brushing Elenion, making sure the horse was still in good spirits. He placed the brush back down on the kitchen table. He filled a ceramic bowel with oats, placing it down for the horse to eat. After patting teh horse on the head a few times, he took a few steps outside, the sun finally shining on the large masses of fresh snow. A surreal landscape of ice and silence.
" I pray your elven friend knows what she is doing in these mountains. She is far from the forest. Hmmm. Yes. What do you think Elenion? Fruits or cheese for breakfast?"
Jolan laughed as the horse chowed down on the oats.
" Of course. A horse would know this. Your advice will be taken into consideration my friend."
Jolan was dressed in intricate metallic green scalemail, two standard longswords strapped to his back in an X formation. He placed a bowel on the table with grapes, apples, and some dates.
" Good morning Adonneniel. Feel free to help yourself to some food before you go. I'll be sure to guide you down the mountains and safely back to Rivendale. I suggest a bit of haste, this weather is famous for giving false hope to inexperienced travelers."

Vorastrix turned to face her, his old and experienced eyes stared back at hers as he listened to her words. He turned back to the sword and nodded. "Fear not... I won't tell the boy. I know all too well the story of this blade and the burden it carries with it. Such would be too much for the lad to bare." He said. He listened to her recite the last part of the prophecy and smirked to himself. He too knew of what else she spoke of. Changing the subject, he looked back to her. "Arwen, a pleasure to see you again. It has been a while since last we saw each other. You were a child yourself you know." He said as he remembered his last trip to Rivendell so long ago. "You've grown in both wisdom and spirit. I can see it in your eyes. Come, I am expecting Elrond's guests to be here this eve and I wish to see more of this beautiful city before needing to get down to business." He said as he turned towards the door and began to walk.

Arwen smiled and nodded, allowing Vorastrix to resume his little tour of the settlement.
Estel was rocking back and forth on his feet and snapped his head towards the wizard. "Did you find something interesting in there?"
***********
She smiled as Jolan tended to Elenion. Adonneniel helped as she prepared the horse for the return journey to Rivendell. Once she was sure the saddle was secure, she took hold of his reins and led him to the entrance of the cave. "If haste is needed, haste is what we shall have..." She was wearing the same emerald green dress with silver designs. There were protective leathers on her forearms and two swords were attached to her belt, one on each side. The sword on her left was a bit shorter then the other, but there were golden runes inscribed onto the sheath.

Jolan took the lead, ever watchful of the unstable terrain. They came upon a large patch of ice, causing Jolan to stop for a moment and scratch his head.
" A most perplexing anomaly to be sure, but it is of the sort I am famed for swiftly finding a way around. Hold here a moment Adonneniel."
Jolan grabbed onto a nearby conifer, making his way up it in a rather acrobatic display. Once he had reached the top, he gazed out on the landscape.
" Hmmm. It doesn't appear to go on for more than a few hundred yards. I can see the path the caravan took."
He jumped down from the tree landing a few feet from Adonneniel.
" It's good to see that people will still take good advice. They avoided the majority of the ice falls. Let us make haste, the sun can make this trek a bit more dangerous."
Jolan remained silent for the rest of the trip. When they reached the warmer climes he stopped and faced Adonneniel.
" You can rest assured that I will be going the rest of the way with you, but be warned. Elrond would not call upon my help and the help of many others were it not of grave importance. I fear that it may involve the Ring of Sauron...the one ring. You must promise me here and now Adonneniel, that you will fight to the bitter end should this be the case. That you will not give up at any point even when the fight is hopeless. I pray you are prepared for anything, because no one can ever be prepared enough for that task."
It was pretty clear he was deathly serious about the matter as he looked to Adonneniel.

Vorastrix nodded back. "I hope that guest arrives soon, I believe I am running out of sights to see" He said as he left with a chuckle. As he exited the room, Estel approached him and asked his question. Vorastrix responded with a smile. "Just memories." He said as he ushered the young boy along with him. "I have an idea. There are some pretty interesting fireworks in my cart. Would you like to shoot a few off while we wait for the other guests to arrive?" He asked Estel in hopes of distracting his mind from the room.

"...fireworks?" He tilted his head, intrigued by the these objects Vorastrix was talking about. "Yes. That sounds... fun." He grinned a little bit and lead the Wizard back to where his cart had come to a halt. With quick bows to the guards, he bounced up and down like the excited child he was, rather then what he was born to become...
*********
The elf starred at him, his tone and expression startling her, but she dared not to show it. Nor did she dare to ask questions. "... if this does involve the One Ring, I will do what I am asked to do by my Lord and I will defend those I am charged with fighting for. But I am afraid I do not understand why you are asking this of me."
The outskirts of Rivendell were visible a short distance away.

" I tell you this because it is not only man that it can corrupt. No one is safe from the grip of ring. It pierces your mind like a well sharpened arrow, sinking in and around your thoughts. You begin to wonder if there is someone else there watching...waiting. Guiding your actions, but as much as you try you never realize it fully...until it's too late..."
Jolan stared off into space, his expression blank for a moment. He came to realize his mind had gone blank and immediately shifted his attention to now emerging outskirts of Rivendale.
" Ah there are few other places as majestic as Rivendale. Few are as friendly for that matter. Come let us make haste, Elrond was never one to suffer late comers. Gallop on ahead Adonneniel and inform Elrond I am on my way. I will catch up shortly. He will want to know his great niece is safe."

Vorastrix chuckled at the young boy's interest. Glad he had managed to capture it, he intended to keep it for as long as he could until he was needed by Elrond. He thought for a moment as he rummaged through the back of his cart before pulling out a larger firework which looked a lot like the head of a dragon. He grinned at it, it was one of Gandalf's favorites. "Here lad, lets light this one." He said as he set it up to aim into the sky. With a flick of his wrist he produced a lit stick out of seemingly nothing and handed it to Estel. "Be careful and once you light it, be sure to run back!" He said with a smile, waiting for teh boy to light the firework.
