Winter Amastacia Drewser DAMN STREIGHT, finally people who understand, okay yes it was a tragedy, BUT YOU STAYED THERE, not OUR faults. Wow Drewser, you never cease to surprise me. You do know that alot of the people who did stay was because they simply had nowhere else to go and were impoverished as is? Sure, more then most happened to be black, which can be attributed to multitudes of reasons, but this does not excuse that they were poor, had nowhere to go, and a lot having no means of escape. Again how is this OUR fault. They are the ones who were impoverished, and it was not our doing that made them so. Winter Amastacia Drewser So guys, please look at yourselves, your "gangster selves" and take a good hard look, ya that pathetic drop out who didn't bother in school and thought it was cool to get high, go on drive bys and get expelled, look at what it got you, don't blame us for your sad mistakes. (This is only aimed to those that could have led a path to a better life, not those who really couldn't) This is just sad Drewser. A sad and weathered attempt to justify your irrationalizations. It's sad that you assume all those who "fail" are "gangster." It's sad how how you think they all get high and go on "drive bys." And finally, it's sad how you try to bring it all around by justifying who your saying this to. When really, you've no idea if they could or couldn't bring a better life to themselves. Oh well, at least in the end, you realize that not all people can. well, I am going to go a slightly different route, but still say that most (with the exception of the severely mentally handicapped) could have gotten out of that poverty. But they made choices to do other things. They choose to hang out with their friends, not necessarily a gang and not go to school. And while at school they resisted learning, and didn’t do the work in school. They also did not take any imitative to make themselves better by learning more. Instead of bettering themselves they choose either to have fun, do things the easy way, or be lazy. And kept themselves in that condition, when many others have crawled out of there. But that goes into the whole “cracker culture” that has persisted in the South, and driven into the cities, and came from Scotland and carried over to present day.

They are the ones who were impoverished, and it was not our doing that made them so. Well, dartalian, you're right. It is not necessarily YOUR fault. I most certainly agree. It is neither YOUR fault, nor MY fault, nor not even OUR fault. I'm sorry you feel that way, the guilt i'm sure is just... looming over you. And if it isn't, well... it should be. Either way, moving on to the actual point, the fault lies both in the hands of those that live it (meaning those in poverty) and the fault of the larger society. I will not go so deeply into this, considering cross references that will be made in the other comment box. dartalian Winter Amastacia This is just sad Drewser. But that goes into the whole “cracker culture” that has persisted in the South, and driven into the cities, and came from Scotland and carried over to present day. I find it rather funny the huge generalization you are making. If the world existed in your tight little boxes of belief systems, i'd hate to be there. Take a moment to consider that not all school systems are equal. You more often then not find "white" and "wealthy" children that attend private schools. On the other end of the spectrum you more often then not find "colored" and "impoverished" children attend discarded public schools. This is not a rare phenomenon, but a reality. Also, when coming from a family that in and of itself already is poor, it is much harder to give your child a "better education" which does exist, though not everyone has access to. We can further take into account that college (another mark of the wealthy and privileged) is far too expensive to send just anyone to. College is only available to those who can afford it. This creates another monetarial, intellectual, and cultural divide.

LRD_nick Well you also need to think that since the levies broke that there was standing water, creating sickness, post poning the rescues Thats why we evacuate hurricane areas before water stands so that people do contract water-borne illnesses.
