Hey hey! The Bible was written how many years ago? Though I believe greatly in it, it mostly considers the women and ways back then. Christians should exhibit Godly behaviour.

People are stupid, okay? They're going to judge you how you dress, I get that. Whether your in slacks, skirts, or chainmail, kilts, whatever.

But see, the world now is just royally screwed, I don't think it's right to judge by appearances. And those who really don't judge, are the people who tend to make differences.

I don't know if that helps. I don't have Scripture to back it up, it's my opinion. Take it or leave it.

Well.... I am not sure if anyone was judging on appearances here. It's not like "You wear such and such, so you are not a Christian." That is not what this is about, at least not that I was informed of.

But you know, I heard a message at my Church that really struct me. This pastor went to visit one of his friends that got out of jail. He knocked on her door and her boyfriend answered. He said that she will be back soon, but they can wait for her.

So anyways, the pastor and his family waited for her at her house. It was full of cigorettes and beer cans all over the place that you could barely walk through the room.

This guy notices the family as Christians. He said, "Oh.... I am a Christian. I am planning to stop smoking and drinking by the New Years. But it really doesn't matter, because God looks in at the heart and looks in the intentions of it."

Now I am trying not to go off track because I tend to do that a lot, especially when I type things like this out. I have a lot of thoughts going through my mind, right now.

I believe that is like how we dress as well. Whatever we dress, actually pretty surprising, reveals how heart. Not just our hearts though, but our lives as well, on how we live. If we dress sloppy, more than likely we are not organized or do not care on how we live. Here is a saying also, whatever is in our heart shines outward. It is not only about how we dress, but how we talk, how we respond to each other, what music we listen to, and so forth.

Now if someone would go out and witness to people, and he was dress sloppy, what would you think the person's reaction would be? They would, more times than I can count, turned them off because he would get the view that Christianity is a sloppy religion.

But that is why I believe that the Lord wants us to have a Christian appeal. To maintain neatness and cleanliness.

Appearance is important, and can show who we are on the inside. Thus, it is important for us as Christians and ambassadors of Christ to be mindful of that. But I am confused as to how most of those scriptures relate to appearance in the physical realm. Spiritually, sure, I can see that. Explain?

Let me go back to a point I made. Isaiah 53:2 says, "...He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him."

Jesus looked like everyone else. He wore the fashions of the time. He partook in the Passover - thus He drank wine (some people don't want to believe that because drinking has become a stigma in these times). He wore sandals, He had beard, His hair was short. He looked like everyone else. What are you not getting from that? Jesus was in the world, but we all know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He was not of it (yes, I know that scripture, too). We are in this world, but we are not of it. We look just like everyone else. If you feel your behavior isn't enough for people to notice a difference about you, then that's kinda sad for you. I wear T-shirts that have Jesus on them. I also wear a dress shirt and plaid shorts to church on Sunday. No one cares.

If we are really to follow Jesus' example, we should look like everyone else but with a twist. A shirt that says, "It was me..." on the front and a whole poem on the back about the saving grace of Jesus is the best way to attract attention. Or even better: a picture of Jesus bleeding on the cross with the scripture under it, "Forgive them, Father. They know not what they do." on the front, and a short but sweet salvation message on the back.

This world thrives on violence. Have you noticed? If we make Jesus into a head-turning, intriguing man to get people to listen to us, why not? Why should we let Jesus' ministry fall in vain by being the stereotypical Bible thumper? Why should we turn people off from the beautiful message of Jesus by demanding sexist dress codes? Why should we as Followers of Christ conform to a culture that only valued women as baby makers and chefs? Why not let our women make their own decisions, asks questions in church, cut their hair short, or even - God forbid - PREACH in a House of God? Why not?

Well..... Why not let our women make their own decisions? They can make their own decisions. But making they can also make a bad decision as well. You know, the Bible is not a book full of laws, because if we think it is, we are going by works than by faith. My Church is not forcing anyone to uphold the Spiritual truths of the Bible, like the headcovering and the dress. It is our conviction that we do it.

You see, there is one thing that I did learn over the years. We must believe all of the Bible, not just part of it. We really cannot pick and choose from the Bible and choose to believe it. Every single word is ordained by God. Yes, it was written 2,000 years ago to the Corinthian Church, but it is also for us as well. Jesus says, "Heaven and Earth shall pass away but my words shall never pass away."

What He says back then is for us, today. We can argue with what it says, but we would actually get nowhere; because the truth of the Word shall stand. There are many practices that the World doesn't understand why we do it, but we get the biggest blessings from it.

Just like the headcovering as for the example. In Corinthians 11, it says that we should cover our heads. Why is it? Well.... It says for the sake of the angels. But also, the World acknowledges it. They know that you are different from them.

My friend, who put on a headcovering last year, was mocked and ridiculed for it. But praise the Lord, she stand for her faith in the Lord. Jesus said, "If you love me, you will face persecution." We shall face persecution, among the World and sometimes even other "Christians." We shall be persecuted for our faith.

And also, about the why should we turn people off from the beautiful message of Jesus by demanding sexist dress codes? God forbid that we should wear something that is appealing to the flesh. Now there is a danger in that. If we lust after someone, that is against the Word of God.

For example, if you wore something that is very, not sure how to say it, sexy or revealing of the flesh, and someone looks at you in a lustful way, 2 sins are actually being committed here. 1 would be the one that is lusting for, and the other is being lusted at because you gave him something to lust for.

Okay what you just did right there is repeat everything I said.
If you remember what I said earlier, I said that I knew every word was God-breathed. I know that we are supposed to follow every word or none of it. If we're going to bring this to the table, do you eat fish? Do you wear mixed fabrics? Have you ever touched a dead animal? Do you burn everything a woman on her period has sat on or worn? Do you stone your children when they disobey you?

By the way, what do angels hafta do with a woman covering her head while she prays? I looked it up and it didn't make sense.

Quite honestly, I'm quite surprised that you don't have 2 Timothy 2:12 on the beliefs posts.

Why is that.
