Maximilian scratched his chin, contemplating, "No... the last two seemed to evolve in almost exactly two weeks. It won't kill it if it stays in the shell for a day or so anyways... and someone as obsessive as you is surely bound to dart into my room in the middle of the night notifying me of the occasion." He added the last phrase in a quiet mumble, turning back to papers on his desk and knocking them off his desk nonchalantly, only adding to the rubbish collecting on the floor.
Vaguely listening to the rest of her desperate ramblings (he didn't have too long an attention span, unfortunately), he heard the words "whatever I have to do" and immediately stopped moving, a plan formulating in his head, among various other dirty images which weren't even really related to what the woman was talking about. Whatever she has to do, hmm? Whirling around, the old dog could barely keep the smirk off his face.
"Well, you know, you should ensure you keep close to me at all times so when you do see it hatching, you can come running so I can free the little one for you," Maximilian urged, stepping closer and sliding an arm around her shoulders, slowly walking towards the exit of the labs. "It is my personal recommendation that you should stay down here for most of the day.. with me. You know, you could perhaps do a little bit of cleaning in the labs--you don't want your Prince to be raised in squalor, do you? This would also be the perfect opportunity.. to spend time with D--Tibalt. Tibalt is awfully lonely down here, you know? And I... I don't have the time, you know? I have so much work to do down here..."
Casting her a child-like pout, he motioned to the door at the top of the stairs. "As for the time you have now, I suggest you start by putting on some.. thinner clothing. How on earth will it hear your heartbeat through all those layers??" Giving her a nudge up the stairs, he pet her bum and turned to move back to his work. "I really want this to work, Adelle."
Of course it would work, those eggs could survive under quite a lot of stress; the sly scientist was simply ensuring that it would work his way.
