Leela noticed the sigh but she considered it a good sign. At least he hadn't yelled at her to get the hell away from him, right? Annd, he was actually taking part in the conversation so kudos for her.
"Elros has the attention span of a gnat but she still manages to bug both of us.. Wait, did you say one of your bond mates breaks furniture? What a nut job," she commented, impressed. "Elros' boyfriend has a bond who is, apparently 'batshit insane'. I've never met her but Spectre keeps talking about her. And when you ask him about the claw marks he just says 'Dawn' and laughs. Maybe she should meet your bond-mate, the one that breaks stuff.."

Rahab quirked an odd look at her, given the description and her wording of said description. Was that amusement? Maybe, maybe not.
"Yeah, the kid rambles about some secret war he's waging on the furniture and how it's all planning to rebel and overthrow the world. Crazy s**t, I tell ya'. He's usually running around breaking things and shouting at the top of his voice. Pretty easy to recognize. He's wearing armor." He paused, seeming to ponder something. "Wonder if we locked them in a room, if they'd destroy each other?"
He sighed, shaking his head slightly. "Nah...no such luck. Probably just destroy the rest of the world."
"Anyway, you hear word of a Cheveyo, steer clear. I hear he's recruiting again."

"Cheveyo? Duly noted," she said with a chuckle then smiled. "And let's try to keep him and Dawn separated. They probably wouldn't destroy each other but, instead, spawn an army of hellish little crazies to further their plot for world domination. No chair would be safe and some of them happen to be quite comfy."

A look of horror crossed Rahab's face as the full implication of that comment developed in his mind. "Don't...even suggest that. The ones he's recruited are bad enough. They're already insane, obviously. But to suggest he might start making more..." He shudders slightly and it's actually questionable at this point if he's being serious or just running with the joke.
He glanced down, unconsciously patting the overstuffed chair. "I don't care what they do to some of the random furniture, but like you said, some of it is actually comfortable..."

Leela widened her eye, not sure exactly if he were playing now or actually serious about his horror at the idea. Still, she continued to be amused by the idea.
"I think Spectre would have a heart attack if anyone mentioned Dawn procreating to him. Last time I mentioned her to him he said, quote 'Jesus, is she here?' and disappeared. I never even saw him move, he was just gone," she told him, laughing. She fell silent after a moment and tilted her head, thoughtful.
"It brings up that question of nature versus nurture, though. I mean, can it be guaranteed their spawn would be just as crazy? Or, would the right bond be able to coax out the sanity in them?"

Shaking his head grimly, Rahab frowned. "I don't think there's any question in this case, least not with my bond. Cheveyo would take the kids and recruit them immediately. If they weren't already nuts to begin with, they would be soon enough. No way you can stay sane around that much craziness. It's why I'm here and not there or anywhere near him as much as possible."
Wait...that made him sound unstable. Dammit!
"He's not the only wacko, just the worst one anyway," he continued muttering, hoping he didn't look like a nutjob as well at the moment. "There's always the skittish one, or the Old English speaking elder, or the sassy new kid, or heck, any of the others to consider that might warp them in other ways. My bond is up to...eight or so now? I lose track sometimes, honestly," he rolled his two good eyes again, looking exasperated at the mere thought of them all.

"I suppose that's true. And I know my bond wouldn't help much. She would encourage the craziness," Leela admitted, her tone a little exasperated.
"She'd just be happy to have more bonds. The death threats don't bother her. She likes us. And I know she's been harassing Spectre to find a nice female and breed. She keeps asking him if he's met any girls. She'll probably start asking me sooner or later..." she trailed off, glancing at Rahab and then away. 'Cause, apparently, she had met a male she liked, hadn't she? Didn't matter that it wasn't in that way. Elros would totally take it wrong...

Whatever signs Rahab may have shown of opening up, even just relaxing a bit around another Wini...instantly seemed to shut down. A dark look crossed his face, and he growled, "What? So that's all bonds are good for, huh? Pairing off and making babies? Is that what she thinks is our whole reason for living?!?" He spit the words out viciously, as if they left a bad taste in his mouth. It was all he could do to keep still and not let his fury turn to action.
Quieter, but with no less venom, he continued, "Because obviously, it's that easy. Just run out and pick someone, go have babies...then the babies grow up and you immediately start shoving them out to go find a mate. Because obviously that's all we're good for. That's the point of life. Love? Who needs that? Just go out and create more life for no particular purpose..."
Seems Leela'd found the wrong...or right, depending on the purpose...buttons to push.

Well that struck a nerve.. Leela blinked her over-sized single eye and stared at him, struck temporarily dumb by his outburst. He just didn't seem the type to get so passionate about anything, especially love. But, apparently, it had hit a chord and Leela hastened to correct the misunderstanding.
"That's not how she feels at all. I don't think Elros is even capable of being so devious to use winiko like that. She wants us to be happy and find love. She wants us to have children because we want to. She's just excited about the prospect," Leela explained, hoping she was making sense.
"She'd never want us to procreate just because. She wouldn't want us to live without love..." she trailed off for a second and just looked at him, thoughtful. "Look, from what I understand, Spectre had a girlfriend at one point but she up and went off with some other male. Spectre was devastated and Elros did everything she could to cheer him up. She finally ended up annoying him so much that he went out and started interacting again. If she didn't care if he found love, would she have bothered?" Leela asked, widening her eye in the wini version of an eyebrow quirk.
"So, when I tell her that I met a male that I enjoyed talking to, she's not gonna be like 'Well go and make babies with him right now!'. She'll tease me about it, sure. But she'll let me decide for myself if I like you so much that I love you and want to have children," she told him with an imperious nod of her head. And then she realized what she'd just said and blushed furiously, looking away.

The seething Wini stayed silent through the explanation, and while it was long and just a bit rambling, that may have been a good thing, since it gave him time to cool this flaring temper again. Maybe he was a bit irrational and quick to assume...but given his history, it was understandable.
Shame he'd continue to look like a crazed lunatic, considering he wasn't willing to share that story. He'd not even told his bonded the full version, so he certainly wasn't going to go out and blab his personal issues to whatever Wini wandered by.
Seizing a break in her explanation, Rahab muttered, "Fine, so she's not completely heartless and insane. Seek out your love stuff, have fun. Just realize, that you can live without love and babies. It's not the sole purpose in life and you can keep right on living just fine without them." He huffed in irritation, paws crossing in front of him and wings pulled tightly against his back, seeming about to say something else, when he froze, blinking his two good eyes.
"Excuse me...what?" he questioned dryly.

"What?" Leela replied then mentally kicked herself. That sounded oh-so-intelligent. Scrambling for something else to say, the cyclops shuffled her feet and tried to force the blush in her cheeks down. She'd just met him and he was so irritable. There was nothing of any romantic inkling between them. Clearing her throat, Leela tried, "Uhm, anyway, I'm sorry if you took what I said wrong. Elros really is very nice.. Soo... What's your bond like?"
