I've already borrowed Sabiel from my roomie and have (sort of) started reading it. I do hope Sab wins, other wise I would have wasted six minuets of my busy and fast paced life *cough, cough*

(for those of you that didn't that, it was sarcasm stare )Haha, fair enough. I'm still reading my Charlaine Harris books at the moment. And I have a book to read for my real life book club ready for October 18th.. it's called The Tenderness of Wolves... by some woman ... I can't remember the author at the moment. Personally, I want Graceling to win.

You don't care about what happens to any of them. Plus he's a real jerk...read his website. He's full of himself and posts rudely to fans who ask him questions. Don't encourage him.

I don't know about Nix being a jerk or not but on the subject of character development, I've found that there are two types of authors (there are of course sub-divisions and all but most authors fall into one of these two categories) Character Oriented authors and Story Oriented authors. The character oriented authors are more focused on the experience. They want the reader to feel and experience the emotions that the characters go through throughout the course of the story. Story oriented authors are more concerned with, well, telling a story. Their characters are tools for them. If a reader feels for a particular character then that's nice but their main objective is to tell a tale not make the reader fall in love with the players. Now, I've never actually read Nix before, but from what I've heard he's more of a story oriented author.

If they die, I don't care. If they win, I don't care. Why am I reading this?" Nix has accomplished nothing more than having characters with different names do anything that his random plots call for, and none of them stay within a range of emotions/actions that anyone with a personality would. I feel like I'm not explaining this very well, but I hope you get the point.

Yeah. I didn't choose Graceling, but I'm interested in reading anything but stuff by authors Nix, Paolini, or Meyer. They are all just people who really shouldn't have been published.
