Cain turned politely at the sound of Anya's voice. He didn't bat an eye at the gorgeous meal, literally flaunting itself before him; the blood rushing up her veins and into her face however...Cain drew a breath into his dried lungs.

"Ne za shto. Across from the vannaya, there is a guest room. You'll find whatever you require in there."

He started to turn away, but something in the air he'd drawn in made him stop. He'd tasted...fear, definitely, but...was that a touch of lust? Cain suppressed a shudder; nothing in this world he despised more then wanton emotions. He used the last of his air.

"When you are finished dressing, there will be food in the dinning room."

Again, Cain started to leave, stopped himself. He couldn't help himself; she looked fragile, like a winter rose.

"What is your name?"

"Anya..." She whispered, "My name is Anya..."

She started to turn in the direction he pointed her in, but then turned again to face him, "Again...thank you...like I said, no one has ever been so kind to me..." She then retreated into the guest room and found a off-the-shoulder long sleeved shirt and a really cute pair of denim crop pants. She let her hair fall down and she walked back out, barefoot.

"I'm surprised you had my size...and something I really like too...."

She smiled slightly and then sighed, "T-Tell me...who are you? And why did you save me?"

Anya asked this quietly, and the fear was back in her eyes.

[For the record, "ne za shto" is a fairly informal way of saying " it is nothing" or "no problem" in Russian. ^.^]

Cain waved his hand negligently, as if trying to erase Anya's words from existence.

"Ne za shto, it is nothing."

He watched her beat her retreat back up the stairs to the guest room, his gave thoughtful. As soon as she had closed the door behind her, Cain turned away, and went to go salvage the dinner that had been forgotten in the mist of all of the family "drama." Cain was setting the table when Anya made her return, speaking in a tone he thought was much too loud and shrill to his sensitive ears, just like all humans. He smiled, careful not to flash fang, at her comment to the clothes.

"I have often entertained young woman in my humble abode. It became more prevalent to have some spare clothes readily available. Young woman, many of an age as you, vary little in their body types and tastes in clothing."

He turned back the forks he was setting out, making certain that the fork was exactly five centimeters away from the black plate, as it should be; there was only place set at the table tonight. Cain continued talking.

"I am called Cain. Cain Kirchloff..."

I saved you so you'd be become one of those I call mine, one of my little mistresses...

"...I cannot abide it when other abuse for the simple sake of exerting power over their lessers. I did not save you for your own sake, Anya; I saved you for the sake of my own peace. Someone should not exert physical violence to sate their sadistic lusts, to curb that longing for the sound of flesh hitting flesh, to see the Red River flow; they should especially not do so upon a delicate flower."

He glanced at her, the lights reflecting off the dark crimson of his iris. Cain was confident that in the light, Anya would assume his eyes were just a dark brown, and nothing more. He smiled his heart-rending smile. Only a few more hours, and she was sure to be one of his. He gestured at the seat at the head of the table, the one with the plate.

"Sit, please. I'll get the food."

Anya looked at him, and did a double-take, her eyes widening.
"C-Cain....your eyes....th-they are crimson around the iris....is that your normal color?"

Her face went pale, and she went very quiet, her fear pounding in her chest. Earlier, when he touched her hand, she noticed he was cold, and now the eyes.

"And I noticed there is only one place set.....C-Cain...what's going on?"

If Cain was put off by the questions, he didn't allow himself to show it. The female was simply swimming in her fear; adrenaline singed the very air around her it seemed. It was all Cain could to not attack Anya right then and there. One bite would make her his, forever and ever. She would be a slave to his will...just one small bite...

"Are they crimson? I hadn't noticed. I already ate, Anya. Please, sit. You looked famished."

Not yet. She's not ripe enough, not yet. He paused at the doorway leading out of the dinning room.

"Would you care for anything to drink? A glass of water, or perhaps some wine? Or something else entirely?"

Cain raised an eyebrow, layering the question furth still.

"I don't....." She was cut off when she met his eyes, and then became almost instantly compliant, "I mean...water...would be nice...."

She obediently sat down, not exactly knowing what she was doing, or who she was in the presence of. Her mind was foggy.

Anya hadn't noticed the other comment, obviously hinting at something sexual. She would eventually comply, though, but with a bit of mind manipulation, although just a touch and not much.

She shook her head furiously, coming out of the trance.

"Woah...why am I so dizzy all of a sudden?"

She started to stand, not remembering why she had sit down, and instantly fell forward and hit the floor, blacking out.

Anya was string enough to get around mind-manipulation, but only with enough energy. With her low energy, and then being put into a trance messed with her mind and perception and made her black out for a little bit.

Cain didn't smile; he'd slipped into Anya's head without trouble. It wouldn't be worth the trouble to smile now, regardless of whether or not he felt satisfied. He caught Anya smoothly and set her down gently. No need to damage the potential merchandise. Cain scooped her up in his arms and carried her up the stares to the guest room. Once there, he set her on the bed and left, closing the door behind him, the girl on the bed unmolested. I suppose this means dinner is out, at least until she wakes up... Cain leaned against the far wall opposite the guest room. He couldn't understand it; she shouldn't have blacked out like that. Cain'd only used the barest of his skills.

He turned, hearing a knock on his door, down on the first level. Cain took his time descending to the foyer, making certain all was in order so that no one would automatically assume him for the vampiric. He pulled the door open, only to see another young woman, soaked to the bone from the rain. It drenched the hair pulled back in a fashionable pony tail, completely ruined the thin, low cut tee-shirt and made the skinny jeans plaster alluringly to her legs. She met his gaze evenly. Her iris's were crimson and she had yet to shiver in the freezing rain; a quick pull in of air through his nostrils solved the mystery. Ah, another vampire. The day was only getting stranger and stranger.

"Da?"

Eve cocked her head. She hadn't expected the Russian. After all, how many Americans spoke the half forgotten language. Then again, he was a vampire...

"Vy govorite po-angliyski? Arcadia said you'd be here. I assume you're Cain. The new Cain."

Cain cocked his head; he didn't have to ask Eve who she meant by "Arcadia." Everyone in the next five states knew the vampire, by sight, if not by name. The Ancient was renown world wide, in the vampiric community, if not by certain circles of humans.

"I haven't been new for a very long time. You must be Arcadia's newest trollop. Please, come in; you look like you're about to freeze."

Inwardly, Eve bristled at the word "trollop." She was anything but. Still, it would not do to anger an Elder. Eve sketched a bow, and hurried out of the rain. With the young man's blood coursing in her decrepit veins, she could feel again. It was a most unnerving sensation to feel the individual rain drops splatter on her skin.

Anya awoke a few minutes later with a gasp, and breathing heavily, not aware of the two immortals nearby.

She winced as her head throbbed, and blinked a few times to get rid of the headache.

"W-Where am I...? I don't remember anything....."

She sighed, and slipped off of the bed, stumbling slightly. When she looked in the full-length mirror, she noticed she was in new clothes, ones that obviously did not belong to her.

"wha....?"

She couldn't remember anything, and wouldn't remember anything until she saw Cain's face when he returned.

Eve followed the fellow vampire to the dinning room. She took a seat across from him; Eve spotted the one dinning plate. She raised an eyebrow in askance. Cain started to reply, but froze. He cocked his head to one side, listening. A moment later, Eve heard it too.

"It seems my guest has recovered from her fainting spell. Excuse me a moment."

Cain hurried away, leaving Eve all alone. He knocked once on Anya's door, and entered without awaiting a surprise.

"Anya? Are you feeling better? You had a bit of a spell, down stairs. I brought you up here, so you would be safe."

PostPosted: Thu Nov 19, 2009 7:07 pm

Anya looked at him, and her heart started racing again. Instantly, all the memories started flooding back to her.

"Cain....y-yes, I am feeling much better...thank you..."

She bit her lip, still uneasy from the nightmare she had just abruptly awoken from. She sighed and shook her head to clear her thoughts, things obviously on her mind. She grew quiet as she sat back on the bed, looking down at her hands that were folded on her lap.

Cain cocked his head ever so slightly to one side. Anya was simply reeking of fear again, but he couldn't understand why. Vampire, remember? Natural enemies to the humans. A little PR doesn't change what instincts Nature gave them. Still, he had to play the gracious host, if not for a little while long. Another (fang less) smile curled up his lips.

"Is aught a matter, Anya?"

Cain was practically puring Anya's name, making the Russian Princess's ancestors turn over in their graves at the very connotations is tongue was hinting at.

"Please, come eat. You'll feel much better then."

There was no getting around the fact that Eve was there; She simply didn't look well enough to pass as human, even in a dim light. It might put a damp on things, she might get wise; Cain felt like he could handle it. The promise of fresh blood would make it possible. He paused Anya at the door.

"I...must tell you something, though. While you were unconscious, a...friend of mine dropped by. She was caught in the rain and simply needed to get out. The thing is, Anya...my friend, she is a vampire."

He gave a little shrug that almost looked human in it's motion, almost seemed to say what else could I have done? The vampire in question was wandering aimlessly down stairs, inspecting the home of he who called himself Cain. Memories kept flashing in Eve's mind, memories she didn't have of this Cain, but of another, of her Maker. Memories of many such homes like these, full of dark wooded items, books and small nick-knacks. People who lived in houses such as these enjoyed and molested their privacy. People who lived in houses such as these were their favorite prey. No one noticed if the rich hermit didn't appear for six months at a time. Eve closed her eyes as the over-whelming mental tidal wave crashed over her. Sex...violnce...blood...blood...always the blood..She shuddered.

Anya was about to get up and walk out the bedroom door, but stopped in her tracks when she heard Cain's words.

"W-What?"

She paled and looked at him, definate fear reflecting from the bright baby blue orbs.

"A-A V-Vampire? What am I supposed to do then?"

She wouldn't tell, but her real father had been killed by a vampire, as well as her mother. Oliver used to be a good stepfather...at least when in the light. Ever since her mother was killed, he practically lept for joy at the sight of blood, reveled in the area of rough, forced sex.

"I would say I don't believe you...." She whispered, "B-But I do....my mother and real father were massacred by a lone vampire...and Oliver....is that vampire...I just never wanted to admit it....and he always tried to drink from me....but never managed to turn me...."

Tears sprang to her eyes. She couldn't believe she was spilling something so personal to someone she had just met.

Cain forced some kind of emotion into his face; he was pretty sure it was a mostly harmless smile.

"Never fret with undue cause, Anya. She fed recently; you can see it in her cheeks. This means she's not hungry, which means she won't be interested in you."

Unlike me... He found his gaze drawn to the smooth line of Anya's neck; Cain half imagined he could see her artery forcing the blood into her brain. His mouth began to tingle in that peculiar way that he associated with longing; much like the way a human's mouth waters at the scent of delicious food. Cain cocked his head to one side at the mention of the step father.

"Your step father? Oliver?..."

He turned the name over in his mouth. He seemed to recall something about an Oliver, but nothing specific. He couldn't have been very old, if Cain drove him off so easily. Probably not even at his three hundred year mark. Even the Trollop down stairs could eat him alive. Pathetic. Cain turned back to the conversation at hand.

"Where did he bite you?"

Noody liked damaged goods after all...

PostPosted: Thu Nov 19, 2009 8:26 pm

Tears slipped out and fell down her cheeks. "It depended on where he could reach....he only bit my neck once.....other then that...it was usually my arm or...."

Anya blushed, embarrassed, "Whenever he tore my top off...it would be my breasts.....or my collarbone....

She shuddered, hugging herself, as if to cover up the shameful marks on her body. "I-I hated him for it....so much....for what he did to me...my body...I wanted to wait so badly..."

She cast her eyes to the ground, [royalblue]"I just find it strange how I haven't been able to turn....he even force fed me his blood in an attempt to....but it didn't work....and now...I don't even see a point in waiting for sex anymore---"

Anya blushed darker and covered her face, "I'm so sorry! I can't believe I said that outloud!!"

Ah. Cain's crimson eyes were drawn to the single, sparkling drop of liquid. Liquid his body no long possessed. A half felt pang of regret for his lost humanity scored a hit against his soul. Inwardly, he shook the feeling off. Stop that. You're something stronger, faster, something so much...better. Humanity survives only because we would have nothing left to feed on. Hindu cattle, awaiting their slaughter. Cain nodded knowingly.

"He was trying to hid the marks, I'd assume. Or maybe he was just lazy; I've heard it said that some vampers enjoy digging into their victims for the blood. The collar bone and the breast aren't exactly filled with veins, you know."

He hated the use of the slang term, but couldn't help himself. He was, after all, trying to gain Anya's trust before the leap. Cain arranged his face to look sympathetic. He pulled her into a loose, comforting hug, careful that she didn't actually touch his cool skin.

"You were saving yourself for marriage? And then a...a...dead man had you? Oh, Anya, I'm sorry. Terribly sorry."

Eve watched the exchange in silence from her position across the hallway, opposite from the guest room. She'd drifted up from below, carried on the wave of memories. Cain knew she was there, certainly; she hadn't been hiding from a fellow vampire; just the human. Imperceptibly, she saw his back tense slightly, before relaxing. Eve sneered at him; it was a wasted, human gesture.

"He probably waited between bites. Right? At least two days? You have to be bite three times in three days, to be turned."

She tossed her hair, and the wet strands sluggishly flipped. Eve smirked, making sure to flash fang at the frightened girl. She knew what Cain was after and trust wasn't it. Trust wasn't needed to rut like an animal in the dark. Eve continued, her voice low, sensual and haughty, her crimson eyes sparkled in the light.

"Sex is a physical capacity, but its exercise is determined by man’s mind—by his choice of values, held consciously or subconsciously. To a rational man, sex is an expression of self-esteem—a celebration of himself and of existence. To the man who lacks self-esteem, sex is an attempt to fake it, to acquire its momentary illusion. What your Oliver was after...Anya, is it? The man who despises himself tries to gain self-esteem from sexual adventures—which can’t be done, because sex is not the cause, but an effect and an expression of a man’s sense of his own value."

Cain, her Cain had taught her that. He'd taught her everything. He'd given her codes of morals to live by...scant though they may be.
