There were only a few people idly lazing around the park, but even the presence of a couple made Kang Ling feel nervous about their mock battle. She had no qualms about fighting during missions. It was necessary to block out the thought of killing another and get the job done. No one would ever really see, save for the staff accompaniment. This happened to be a different situation. Not only was there the possibility that the people in the park would start to watch their spar out of curiosity, those happening to pass by could as well. Who knew? Kang sure didn’t, but the idea certainly made her apprehensive to start.
Rather than let her feelings be written all over her face, she began stretching out her arms and legs. Her weapons stood by her side. Rainer excitedly bounced a bit, stretching alongside the girl while Caine sighed, preferring to skip the stretching.
“Okay~ Time to start!” he hollered.
Grinning, Rainer glanced at his twin and the pair turned into a pair of Japanese fans. Kang Ling held them in her hands. Standing in a plain position, she waited for the other group to finish their preparations. “Y-You m-may s-start . . . i-if y-y-you w-wa-want,” she offered.

Once the trio had stretched and warmed up, the twins went ahead and shifted into their weapon forms. And as Derek grabbed onto the blades and stood into position.
"Your stance is off," grumbled Andre almost immediately.
Laughing a little nervously, the technician quickly fixed his stance while looking at Kang. The fans that Caine and Rainer turned into were quite pretty, but he didn't say anything about it. Then, nodding to Kang, he dashed forth.
"Remember, don't go all out. We don't want to hurt them," reminded Aryana as he charged.
As he drew near, Derek swung Andre at Kang before following up with a strike from Aryana in the opposite direction.

The other two turned into a pair of hook swords. Rainer glanced at their gleaming forms and he let out a low whistle, admiring their appearances. ‘Wow! Hook swords, huh? Looks like Derek got his wish of fighting close combat!’ he noted, Caine grunted in reply, rather vexed at having to spar.
Kang Ling watched the other technician hastily readjust his stance, eyes never straying from her. A brief nod and he charged forward. Once within range the boy swung one sword at her and she darted out to dodge the swing. ‘Watch out for the follow up.’ Caine warned and she nodded her head ever so slightly.
Like he said, there was a second attack. Body already awkwardly placed from the first swing, Kang Ling raced to think of how to dodge. In a panic, she dipped backwards and found herself in the bridge position, hands painfully holding onto her fans. She managed to flip and stood back up, face twisted into a grimace. ‘Wow! I never knew you were that flexible!’
“I-I’m n-not . . .” she mumbled and mustered up the energy to forcefully swing at Derek, blades of sharp wind dancing around the fan.

"Woah! Nice dodge! All matrix-style and stuff," said Derek while grinning. He didn't have much time to think before the girl retaliated however. Quickly, the brought up Aryana to block the blow with her cresent guard. Not the greatest idea, as he felt the wind that surrounded the fan slice into his hand a little.
"Yow! What the heck!?" he cried while jumping back to put some distance between the two, "I know I blocked that hit!"
"Derek, look carefully. See the air around the fans? That's what got you," informed Andre while Aryana gave some input as well.
"Looks like Rainer and Caine have the wind element imbued into them. So watch out for that wind!"
"And take it easy will you? No need to rush in head on all the time. You'll burn out fast that way."
Nodding at these words, the technician stared at Kang. This was going to be a little tricky, he thought, but he couldn't stand and think too much. Slowly, he began to try and circle the girl while looking for an opening to attack. His left hand stung where the blades of wind cut into him, but it wasn't enough to really impair his ability to use that hand.

Her face flushed red and she stopped in her tracks, sheepishly scratching the back of her head, unused to receiving compliments. “O-Oh . . . n-n-not r-really,” Kang Ling meekly replied, flustered. She nervously chuckled and rubbed her back a little, muscles still slightly sore with pain. ‘When the time comes the body will go past the normal limit to survive, huh? Something along those lines.’ she thought.
‘Why don’t you get your head out of the clouds and focus back on the fight?’ Caine’s voice rang clear in her mind and she frantically shook her head, realizing his logic.
“S-S-S-Sorry!” She turned her attention back towards Derek and watched him become befuddled about her attack. She panicked and hesitantly stepped towards the other technician. “A-Are y-you h-hurt? Sh-Sh-Should I-I n-not do th-that a-anymore?” she worriedly inquired, completely new to this sparring business and afraid of messing up somehow.
‘Who CARES if he doesn’t want us to do that? That’s not the point! Don’t you DARE think of stop doing that!’ Caine hissed at her and she hurriedly nodded her head in affirmation. ‘Although that’s true, you didn’t have to say it so rudely~’ chastised Rainer and his twin snorted in reply.
The other student cautiously circled her, waiting for a chance to attack once more. ‘. . . Maybe you should make the next move?’ A short pause. A hesitant nod. Then she leapt at him.

((Lol... I just realized that in weapon form it's supposed to be more along the lines of thought-speech. XD; *shot* ))
Looking up as she apologized, Derek grinned and shook his head. The cuts weren't deep enough to make him bleed this time around, but that wasn't the reason why he acted the way he did just now.
"Don't worry about it! We're sparring; we're bound to get a little nick or bruise here and there. Just as long as we aren't really trying to kill each other and all!"
Intently, he kept an eye on the other technician, watching her movements carefully. He continued to circle about her as he stared.
urged Aryana as they saw the slow nod come from the girl.
Reacting to his weapon's cry, he shifted to the side and with a flick of his wrist, he attempted to knock one of the fans out of the way. As he did this, he moved to try and knick her with his other hand.

[[ xD I'm just doing what Tox first did in her first mission. -shot- ]]
Kang Ling warily stared at him, doubt in her eyes. Still new to the sparring business, she was still unsure about injuring the other student. In her mind, doing missions and mock fights were two things that widely differed from one another. The goal of a mission was to eliminate one’s target, usually a murderer, as quick as possible while a spar was more of another way to train oneself and get stronger. Attacking a mission target was one thing while attacking a fellow student was another.
“Y-Yes . . .” she mumbled. It was still clear to see that she was reluctant to fight him.
Her fans swung at thin air and she confusedly stumbled forward, eyes wide with surprise. A hand knocked at one of her weapons and she let out a short, pained shriek as one of her partners was sent flying into the air. ‘This is actually kind of fun, haha!’ remarked Rainer as he sailed away, innocently plopping into the grass.
‘Better him than me. Now hurry and get yourself back together! They could do a follow up any moment now!’ thought Caine.
She whimpered, holding her injured hand close to her chest. She wasn’t exactly the most pain-tolerant person around. “O-Okay . . .” Her voice trailed off as she eyed the only fan in her possession at the moment.

The whimper didn't go unnoticed. And for a moment, the technician hesitated as he thought he may have done more damage than intended. She didn't seem like the type of girl to fake her injuries to try and get the opposition to lower their defenses out of concern either. But he knew he couldn't drop his guard too much here. Just in case.
Nodding at her words, Derek went to try and disarm her completely. He stepped forth and flourished Aryana, hoping to do a feint of sorts. However, the true attack came with his next move as he brought Andre up to try and hook onto the edge of the fan to try and yank it forward.

As he brandished one of his hook swords and attacked, Kang Ling easily swerved out of the way. However, she wasn’t expecting it to be a feint and her eyes widened at this sudden realization. ‘Kang Ling! Look behind you!’ Caine’s voice warning her of the follow up, she frantically looked around.
A fraction of a second too late, she shrieked as a hook sword wrapped itself around her fan and pulled, clawing it out of her grasp. The yellow fan harmlessly fell a couple feet away and effectively out of the female technician’s grasp. Kang weakly reached out toward the fallen fan, but then turned back towards Derek. She helplessly stared at her empty palms and whimpered. “O-Oh . . .”
Shocked at the sudden defeat, the girl sniffled and reached up to cover her face. “I-I’m a h-h-h-horrible t-te-te-technician! O-Oooooh . . . !”
Her weapons sliding back into human form, they walked over to console their crying technician, who wilted to the ground. Unsure of how to comfort the girl, Rainer awkwardly patted her back. “I-It’s alright, Kang Ling! It’s just a spar.”
Caine grimaced, grumbling, “Oh great, you made Kang Ling cry!”

As he managed to completely disarm Kang, Derek felt a sense of victory for a split second. However, the thing that came afterwards was unexpected to him. He was going to wait for her to get her fans again, so he had relaxed. But instead of doing that, she simply stared at her hands and began to whimper.
Andre, being more competitive, also felt the same way. But those feelings quickly disappeared when he saw her crying and claiming that she was a terrible technician. Quickly, both he and his sister shifted to their human forms. Once shifted all the way, Aryana rushed over to Kang to try and comfort her as well.
"Shh... it's alright Kang! We're just practicing here..." she said softly while placing a hand onto her shoulder, trying to be reassuring, "Please don't cry... it's alright, really..."
Standing by, unsure what to do, Derek scratched his head. When he heard Caine grumble, he laughed nervously, hesitating before he responded.
"I'm... I'm sorry Kang! But really! You aren't bad; I just got lucky! That's all."

Both Caine and Rainer had figured that being completely disarmed wasn’t that big of a deal. It was just a spar. It was just a pretend fight. It was nothing serious. They were expecting their technician would calmly (or as calmly as she could) hurry over and pick them both up, but instead she dropped to the ground.
Comforting a crying girl were neither of their fortes, not even if the girl was their very own partner! Obviously neither of the boys would be involving themselves in a romantic relationship anytime soon.
Kang Ling felt a gentle hand on her shoulder and looked over to see Aryana through her watery eyes. “B-But I c-can’t e-event f-fight p-p-properly!” she squeaked before letting out a loud sob, burying her head into the girl’s shoulder, too ashamed at her own performance to turn to her own weapon.
She shook her head at Derek’s attempt to soothe her crying. “N-No . . . I-I’m h-h-ho-horrible!” Her voice cracked and she continued to whimper into Aryana’s shoulder.
“What should we do now?” Rainer whispered to Caine, worriedly glancing at their technician.
He pondered this for a moment before he set his dark blue eyes on Derek. “Why don’t you go cheer her up? I think it’ll be more effective if you do it.”

"Shhh... don't worry about it. That's why we're practicing.. I'm sure you can fight just fine; you did some missions already right?" said Aryana in a soothing tone while lightly hugging and patting the Technician on the back. Hearing the other twins discuss what to do, she glanced over at Derek. It would probably be more effective if he tried to do something, as they said.
"Uh... I don't really know what to do.." he started before Andre pulled him closer.
"Try offering something then, if you don't know what to say," he uttered before pushing his Technician closer to the girls.
Blinking at the advice, Derek thought about it for a moment. What could he offer to her? Then, coming up with an idea, he knelt down by Kang and Aryana with a grin.
"Hey... I'll give you my skateboard if you wa-ow!"
Andre had followed Derek at first, and when he heard him begin to speak, he knew things were not going to go well. So he promptly whacked his Technician on the back of the head. While the skateboard was a prized possession of Derek's, chances were that Kang wouldn't put much value into the thing.
"You dolt! Not that!"
Looking up at his weapon, Derek rubbed his head where he got hit. Frowning, he tried to think about it. But nothing was really coming to mind.
"Hm..."

“B-But mi-mi-missions a-are so d-di-different!” Continuing to bawl, she wrapped her arms around the taller woman, glad to have someone she could cling to at the moment.
Rainer thought over this suggestion, cocking his head to the side and rubbing his chin. “Well, I wouldn’t really pin the blame on anyone here. It was just . . . you know, an accident. Right?” He voiced his opinion after a moment of musing.
His brother shrugged in reply. “I still say it should be Derek,” he mumbled, eyes starting to droop. If this dilemma could be solved in the next minute or so that would be perfect timing. He was ready to fall asleep any moment now. Although Caine could truthfully say that it hadn’t been that long since hopping off his brother’s back to deal with this spar business, he happened to like spending the majority of his day dozing off.
Feeling the other technician’s presence nearing, Kang shyly turned to stare at him with one eye. Her eyebrows furrowed to show her confusion at his proposition. “Wh-What?” She sniffled.
Exasperated, Caine strolled over to Derek and leaned down to whisper in his ear, “Just take her out for some ice cream. She’s been talking about that ice cream parlor quite a bit recently.” He stood back up, scowling. “Well?”

With a soft sigh, Aryana patted Kang Ling on the back. Most likely, nothing she would say would really help out much, so she fell silent. However, she did look over at Derek expectantly, hoping he won't try to offer something like his skateboard again.
"Uh..."
Andre was about to say something on the matter, but Caine beat him to the punch. Looking up at the weapon, Derek soon grinned and nodded. Then, as he turned his attention towards the crying girl, he went and offered.
"Oh! I know!! How about we get some ice cream? It'll be on me!" he offered enthusiastically, "From that one place... um.. was it called nomnom? Or something like that. But yeah, that place!"

Was it simple-minded of Kang Ling when she curiously perked her ears at the offer? She liked ice cream. Not that many people didn’t like ice cream, after all. In particular, she had recently discovered the ice cream parlor here in Death City. Their ice cream was absolutely delicious. The flavor names were odd, but tasted wonderful. The shop sold the best ice cream Kang had ever had.
Sobs shifting into sniffles, she reluctantly released her hold on the female weapon and wiped the stray tears trickling down her face. She blinked, staring up at Derek with wide eyes. “I-Is th-that o-okay?” she muttered, shyly lowering her head and twiddling her thumbs. “I-I d-don’t w-want to b-be a-a b-bo-bother.”
“By the way, it’s called Nomnomnom Ice Cream Parlor,” Rainer cheerfully piped in before being promptly bonked by his younger sibling.
