Walking away from the door, sensing that Doc was not going to burst out of the room, he went to sit down in his desk. "It's not so much the budget as it is the training of some of the staff in the infirmary; they're using 15 hypothermic needles for a soldier that came in with a sprained ankle." He sighed and handed Doc a manila folder. "I need you to look over these specs, get some Privates to inventory our remaining medical stockpile, and teach those idiots how to do field medicine and stop wasting supplies."

Doc sighed and rested her forehead in her hand, receiving the folder in the other. "Maybe we should invest in some actual nurses... the First-Aid trainees aren't quite up to par anymore. I'll probably have to oversee the inventory myself. God knows how some of those idiots will manage to screw it up"

He sighed, shaking his head. "To do that, we'd have to ask for some that can be spared from St. Joseph General Hospital in Downtown," he replied. "And we can't afford that on our budget and the reason we can't afford it is because we don't have any competent medical staff that'd keep us from needing to order another shipment of medical supplies. Talk about a Catch 22, eh?"

She sighed again. "This is actually starting to get really depressing" She mumbled. "It's like a never ending cycle of money loss. How do we get out of this, then?"

"Not another bake sale," he muttered, glancing at Doc. "That was a God awful disaster."

"Hey! Don't you blame the disaster on the baked goods! It's not their fault that the crew I put together to bake didn't understand the difference between baking soda and flour!"

He turned to look at Gina. "Why did you even think it was a good idea to round up members from the 67th Artillery Regiment to make baked goods?!"

He nodded his agreement and folded his hands together in front of him as he thought. "Alright..." After a moment of thought, he sighed in exasperation. "I've got nothin'. What about you?" he asked, directing the comment towards the both of them,

"Uhhh..." Doc's mind was blank. "You know, I miss the good old days when you could just pay Privates a dollar a day. Then we wouldn't have this problem"

"Doc... we still pay Privates a dollar a day," he reminded her. "Thing is, we can't deduct their pay enough to compensate for the damges that they usually cause around the base. Hell, Barracks 5 has been in ruins for the last 2 years!"
He then looked over at Gina. "If we do another bake sale, can you promise me that you'll supervise it personally? Because if I read another article in the papers about nuns in intensive care for a severe stomach flu..." He let the statement trail off.

"Maybe we should just blackmail the nuns into replacing the rest of the infirmary staff... I mean, things weren't too bad until they all quit"

Supporting his head up with one hand as he drummed his fingers along the desk in annoyance, he shot a withering look towards Doc's direction. "Yeah, blackmailing nuns. Definitely the PR story the Army needs these days." He then paused. "Wait, what the Hell would we blackmail nuns with anyways?!"
