I hear many people who pseudo-wanna learn Japanese butcher the 'r's' and it makes me want to cry. -Japanese do not pronounce R's like we do-. They sound more like d's.

So, not to be picky, but I would not pronounce 'hiragana' as here-ah-ga-na. It would more appropriately be Romanized as: He-ra-gah-na. The former makes you sound like an American. Here's a short song http://www.goodnightkiss.com/hiragana.html (dont have to listen to all of it) but it pronounces hiragana properly.

Hopefully y'all don't think i just ran here and went 'Rawrrawrrawr', but as my Sensei told my class, if you're gonna learn a language, you need to learn it on their terms, not ours; pronounce it their way not ours. Hopefully most of y'all know this, but for the rest of ya, there's your lesson!
