Used to use 2.0 too, but my bro's PC got hit with a rootkit that exploited a hole in 2.0, so I switched to 3. Tempted to say its at least partially 3's fault, since Gaia is not the only site giving me problems (many imageboards I visit are also bugging out). But back to the issue. Gaia's purposefully (yes, intentionally) killing (or trying to) our blocks and all. For ads, I can understand some ad contracts don't like paying for blocked pages, but site "features"? Seriously, the new bling isn't good enough to warrant shoving it sidewise down users' throats.

The orange button doesn't bug me half as much as the RIG ads do. I blocked the entire /rig/ folder and ended up losing my header background.
They better not outright ban us from having adblock software in the future, especially since a lot of their ads are malicious.

Yeah don't want to do that, to block the rig ads, all you have to do is right click the gif, view the image, get the image tag and copy and paste it into ABP. Thus you keep the header, though just noticed now it was gone.
@hanaze: Ouch, yeah, that could detour people away from it, though like it too much to change it. I'm a sucker for old programs and apps. Even with all their little bugs. I find I like them much better alot of the times than the newer crap that try to get too fancy and modern looking.
If you're ever wanting to switch back to 2.0, try adding "no script" to it, it should help block alot of things that can cause harm. Though never had a problem with out it and with AVG running and a few trips to the microsoft web site on occasion to use their scanner and cleaner there.
They can try, but unless they add a false positive for ABP in there that'll tell you to turn off abp, they can't do much about it. And even then, with a false positive, you can still have ABP on as long as you can isolate it and allow that one code.
I could care less about the contractors, theres enough people out there with out ABP seeing the ads, and even some that don't mind them. Let the rest of us that despise them kill them off. I mean Gaia's doing what they're supposed to, they're hosting them, and that should be that.

Honestly, I hate how Gaia spends the majority of its time fixing the things that weren't broken (Shops and MyGaia), screws everyone over, and fails to fix the things that could seriously use the update (Towns, Games..).
I think it's about damned time Gaia gets off its a** and actually gets stuff done for once.
