Artemis watched him go, smirking. She walked back to her pack, whom were looking at her with puzzled faces. "Lets go back to our clearing." she said, stopping to eat a bit of left over meat.

Stryke ran until he ran out of breath. he stopped for a minute and looked around. he heard an Elk, female, decent weight. the meal could last him for 2 days. he got up and listened, it was 1 mile away. When your hunting alone, one mile is like 3. with all the waiting and a half empty stomach it might be 5 miles. But stryke could do it, he had to. he got up and headed west...

Artemis lead her pack back to the clearing in the shadow of a mountain face that was their home. She headed to her den, a large cave that was close to the nursery where the new born pups were kept during the winter.

Stryke came upon the elk, he wasn't going to attack at this distance. he remembered his first hunt in the pack. "never attack from afar because there will always be a chance for it to escape..." Stryke shook his head back to reality "just a few more miles..." (( ill be back at 9 pm))

Artemis settled down on the soft sand in her den that was always there, even in winter. She listened to the sounds of the pack returning back to the clearing and smiled. ((oki doi))

Stryke held in a yawn. he didnt want the elk to hear him. It was setling in for the night and stryke was waiting patiently...well a little, he was pacing back and forth. An hour later the creature settled down and closed its eyes. "knows my chance!!" Stryke dart of the rock he was perched on and landed on the elk, tearing its throat out. the elk didnt even let out a sound. stryke froze for a second, this was to good to be true. He let out a victory roar and then dug in...

Artemis woke up, hearing pawsteps outside her den. "May I enter?" She heard a faint voice coming from the entrance. "Yes." She said, sitting up. A young white wolf padded in. Artemis knew this wolf. The wolf was her apprentice, the pup she was teaching to hunt and fight. "Yes, Crag, what is it you want?" She asked. Crag lowered his head. "I was wondering if you could show me how to track prey in the snow. Since its almost winter and all." He said. Artemis smiled and got to her paws. "Yes, of course. I beleive its beginning to snow outside right now, so its the perfect time." She lead the way toward the forest.

An overwhelming pride swell up in stryke. Even though it was one elk, it was proof that he would survive. "...thank you Artemis" Stryke finished the elk and and curled up against a boulder to block the wind. he slowly drifted to sleep...

Artemis stopped beneath a large tree, unable to see what kind it was due to the wind and snow. "Now,sniff the air and tell me what you can smeel besides the snow." She said, watching Crag closely. After a moment, his ears pricked. "I smell a rogue wolf!" He said, before bolting off toward the scent. Artemis sniffed the air and recongized the scent. "Wait! He's no harm!" She said, tearing off after the young wolf.

Crag darted at the sleeping Stryke, growling and barking wildily. Artemis dashed at him.

Stryke bolted up and bit crags neck, slamming him on the ground. "Im out of your territory, what do you want!?" his fir was raised. he saw Artemis. "I didnt think this soon..."

Artemis stopped in her tracks, looking atthe bleeding Crag, then at Stryke at in confusion. "He...didn't mean to attack...he's never distinguished harmful scents from non-harmful ones.." She muttered.

Artemis looked at Stryke, rolling her eyes. "That isn't any of your business." She sadi. Crag glared at Stryke as he got up. "Artemis, why can't I kill him? He's on in our territory!" Artemis looked at Crag. " 'Cause I said so." She snapped. She looked at Stryke again. "Sorry he attacked you."
