Matsu nodded. "Whatever works for you. I'm gonna take a nap." He laid back against a nearby tree and closed his eyes, hands behind his head.
((Note: Matsu is now asleep, shirtless, and extremely sweaty.))

"Okay and I'll....be....back..."
Her eyes, completely betraying her sense of decency and modesty (which Matsu was currently deprived of) her face turned as red as the poppies in her bouquet. One of her hands, to her shock began creeping towards the sweaty mop of hair.
Her common sense and pride, fortunately, snatched the perverted hand and shoved it into her mouth, resisting the urge to muss up his hair, trace his muscles and just ravish him. Taking the hand out of her mouth, she actually slapped herself to shake out the urge. Control yourself! she screamed inwardly, Don't take advantage of your captain just because he's vunerable. And sweaty. And very nearly naked....
"Why'd you stop yourself?"
At the very sound (To hell with it. The guy had been purring) at her captain's smooth voice, she was shocked. Then....
"EIAAAAHHH!"
Slithering like no other, she sped her way out into the jungle, shocking a few animals on the way, and didn't stop until she was at the other sound of the island. Hugging herself, she shivered as many ideas popped into her head about just what her captain might have planned to do.
(Edited weird. I saw his post later and this was sensible as it came to me)

((OK, time for a little counter-attack. No assuming that he slept through that for you, naughty girl. I never said he was a heavy sleeper.))
Matsu's eyes snapped open right after Lamia put her hand in her mouth. He was by nature a light sleeper, and the slight sound of her breath had woken him up. He saw that look in her eyes and grinned. "Why'd you stop yourself?" He reached out and gently poked her just above her collarbone. She screamed and slithered away, leaving him with his hand in midair and feeling like an idiot. He decided to indulge in some language he rarely had a chance to use. "Guess who?"

"Eek!" she squeaked and fell back, looking right up at her hovering captain. And he was still sweaty and very nearly naked.
"Wh-what are you doing here?!" she said, pointing one of her long nails at his face, hairs raising on her head making her look like a shocked cat/snake girl.

Matsu grinned. She was, when he looked at her up close like this, pretty cute. "Looking for you, little miss. Why'd you run off like that?"

She flushed at the apparently innocent question, "Be-because you're acting weird!" she accused, facing away from him, clapping her hands over her ears, "You just poked me out of nowhere!"

Matsu leaned over so he was staring her in the face, less than an inch away from his nose touching hers. "And you were fantasizing about me, weren't you? Don't look like that, I know when someone's 'hot' for someone else. It's a talent of mine." He grinned again and pecked her on the forehead, then leaned back, his eyes closed, his lips parted in a wide grin, and his hands behind his head.

Forget blushing. Matsu's small peck turned her whole face fire-truck red.
"Stop that!" she shrilled, yanking away, "I wasn't doing anything like that! There was...a leaf on you." she lied in between her teeth. She would not give in. She was the sensible one. She would not think about her captain's near nudity...

Matsu chuckled. "Yeah, right. If I had a leaf on me, why did you blush when I woke up?" He saw how she was bluffing, but he could out-stare a mirror and out-bluff a cliff. He knew he wouldn't be the first to cave in this little game. For good measure, he leaned in and kissed her again, longer this time and lingering on her lips before drawing away.

First kiss.
Lamia was sure she'd end up dying without one...much less getting friends who liked her enough for simple hugs. But when he pulled away, she wasn' so much as blushing as she was shaking with the surprise.
"Why..." she murmured, "You're all you...and I'm just..." she smoothed her hands over the silky scales, "I don't even know what being all human is like anymore..."

Matsu smiled. It wasn't joking, but gentle. "You look human enough to me." He leaned towards her and gave her a hug.

She leaned into the embrace, catching the smell that stuck to his hair. It was a musky smell, like charcoal. No surprise there. She let her head fall heavy on his shoulders.
"You said," she muttered, embarassed, "Back on Drum that you'd show me how to trust you...right?"

Matsu let go of Lamia and drew back slightly, his hands resting on her shoulders. "Yes..." His voice was tender, but slightly wary all the same. He'd loved and lost, and he was damned sure that it was worse than never having loved at all, and he didn't want to risk that again. If she was going to tell him off, he'd just break off there, but he was still open to the other path.
