Louis-Auguste Robespierre Demon Kagerou So, you've finally agreed with me. Um, I believe this was always my position on the Community: invite all, and then get the best elements from there to join the NCS... The difference is that now I made a thread, rather than saying this in someone else's thread... unless you were talking about Rob's post... I recall you objecting to my standard of allowing anyone in that can write and wasn't an obvious troll.

But we are not talking about the NCS, but the NCS Community. DO you remember that guild? It was active back in 2006. Yeah. And you will note that I still don't propose such lax requirements for the Community Guild, either. Instead I propose a criteria of, at minimum, radical left wing. So nyah!

I tend to operate on the theory that people who go through the trouble of finding this guild on the register, and applying for it, already have some interest in left-wing politics one way or another.
Even if they don't see themselves as lefties, they are interested in getting to know them. A few devil's advocates never hurt nothing.

Please forgive my ignorance and newness here, but what's the difference between this and the Community?
Then again, I am up for anything that promotes activity in a messageboard, except spamwhores and /b/tards/trolls. But I think you guys already have worked towards working against them...

The community is to be designed for not-so-hard left socialists to discuss certain topics that arn't so dense. One of the main problems here is that we scare away newbies so we need a more comfortable community for them while the NCS would be for more heated discussion.

Maybe get the general discussion board a bit more lively to keep people around after they join... the first page does seem a bit hard-lined.

I HATES TEH SOCIALIST ALTERNATIVE! RAWR!" which made me not yell at you at first, so... @zim: Well, the NCS Community Guild was started in 2006 to be a not-quiet-NCS-guild, IIRC, as opposed to the "talk about NCS stuff" guild that was NCS. To be sure, the NCS has grown more specifically Marxist, or to be more correct, the Marxist discussion has scared many newbies and 'soft' socialists away. To be honest, I feel way more comfortable with it this way, but am open to a more general NCS guild existing. However, there is no way I wold be happy with an NCS guild that included pretty much all leftists.

In the past, I had discussed with a few folks and various other progressive minded guilds (anything from the LGBT, anti-fascist, etc etc groups) about making a broad group for progressives. The NCS community could fulfill this function well, particularly if we made that guild public (though the mods could be given more leeway to delete spam). The hardest part would be getting the word out any explaining the difference between the two to people who simply find the NCS in the registry and apply.

Well, once we decide what we want it to be and just how inclusive we think it should be (I'd be for including even common liberals - that is liberal in the US sense) we could go to the art forums with some accumulated money and have an art contest or something for our banner.
It's difficult to come up with a banner when we don't know exactly what we're going to do with it.

Well about the confusion, I think we (Tank, Rob and myself) came up with the title "Left-Wing Community." The tage we came up with were... *thinks* Leftist, socialist, liberal, feminist, anti-war I think, anyway.
