Flowergirl0 Puritanical Shinigami Flowergirl0 Puritanical Shinigami Flowergirl0 Well power metal is really more just branched off of heavy metal, because speed metal is more thrashy you know? They don't have as harmonic riffs and stuff. But yeah listening to white skull I think that would work. But wolf (assuming it is the japanese one.) is def. speed metal. Yea, The Wolf I got (Evil Eye album) is deffinetly speed metal. Yea, speed is thrashy, but power metal takes a lot from speed because of the speed they play at. They're like speed, mixed with symphonic, melodic and clean as hell vocals. For some of it that is. @ Goshikku: Yea, some of their songs really sound like power metal, and some sound like speed metal, depends on what ones you listen to. Speed metal isn't name so simply because of fast playing though. It's more, that it was more aggressive then heavy metal, in it's riffing, as if it was heavy metal on speed. I'm pretty sure. Yea, that's how I look at it. Speed metal is a faster version of heavy metal, but I like it better for being that way, cause speed is what I aim for smile But it's not because it's faster that it's named that. It's like a middle ground in evolution between Heavy metal and thrash. The reason it's called speed metal is because it's aggressive, like if you were on the drug speed. And agression is usually done fast and what not. But yea, I don't know much on speed metal because I don't really study it or have gotten into it that much, but I do see myself in the future getting to know speed metal. So they named a genre after a drug?

Power metal isn't quite as thrashy as speed metal, really if you look at power metal and look at basic heavy metal you can see that is pretty much were it came from.

xX megathrash Xx Suppose I'll do Thrash since Chaoti's not here...? ninja Sounds good, and I don't think he's here, you can always suggest him or anyone to Goshiku if you want to. But you have to have a reason to, and we're trying to keep this place a flame-free zone. Only constructive flaming is allowed.

But he knows more about thrash than I do, which is already quite a bit. So.... it's up to you peeps. I don't want to impose. wink

wahmbulance ---->Thrash Metal<---- wahmbulance I begin writing this article whilst listening to the band, Testament... and Nuclear Assault. (I changed it half-way through) cool Whatizit?Directly influenced by the NWOBHM (to be explained by another specialist) and Punk Rock, Thrash Metal is one of the first sub-genres of Heavy Metal. Usually uncomplicated, Thrash involves power chord progressions with simple to moderate speed licks; combining the raw sound, anger, and speed of Punk with the heavy, crushing sounds of Heavy Metal. Usually brief in length, Thrash Metal tends to involve lyrics that range anywhere from anti-religion and raising hell to protesting war and other political standpoints. Vocal styles usually are fast paced with the music and are screamed in a high pitch, though several bands have done a mixture of different tones and qualities of screams. Growls, grunts, and sparatic low-pitch vocals are not uncommon. Brief History:BLACK SABBATH. Need I say more? Well I guess I have to. dramallama Sabbath themselves were one of the first "metal" bands, and when comparing a well-known Thrash Metal band to them, you can easily see the influence. Dark, evil, anti-social, yet feeding a sense of enlightenment to the taboos and ignorance of society as a whole. It can also be said that Glam Metal has pushed it's inflences on Thrash. Genrally thrashers couldn't stand the Glam-scene, fueling the fire for their need to break out and release all the anger and aggression stacked from society's ignorance in general. Bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Exodus, Forbidden, Nuclear Assault, Evil Dead, etc. etc. began to take over the metal scene and was most prominant during the 1980's. Activities:Activities often involved in Thrash Metal are: drinking, smoking, making fun of people, partying, thrashing, moshing, chillin, destroying stuff, and pulling pranks on people. Pioneers/Getting into Thrash:Some of the most notible pioneers of Thrash Metal are Exodus, Anthrax, Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Overkill, and Sodom. Thrash Metal is a bit of an acquired taste. Either it really grabs you and you'll love it, or you just won't appreciate it that much. Bands that I personally love from this genre include, but are not restricted to: Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Artillery, Metal Church, Sodom, Sadus, Kreator, Destruction, Nuclear Assault, Forbidden, Testament, Exodus, Death Angel, Dark Angel, Onslaught, Vio-Lence, Ulysses Siren, Overkill, Annihilator, Suicidal Tendencies, Flotsam and Jetsam, Evil Dead, Blitzkrieg, Wargasm, and Whiplash. Some newer (2000 +) Thrash bands worth paying attention to: Gama Bomb, Toxic Holocaust, Warbringer, Mastery, Evile, and Violator
