I've grabbed them a time or two, but never alone. From what I could tell, they only drop normal coins, and not very many of them. A rather mediocre booty grab fish was my conclusion - fairly low trigger & drop rate.

I grabbed from a tank with one on it's own.
I didn't get much gold from it so they're probably not worth as much as they are selling for in the market place.
