Those who accept their fate are granted happiness.

I must ask...
What's more important: a Gaia account or precious info that could be used to ruin your entire future? User Image
I'm just saying that banning people for doing what they were advised to do (never giving out personal info) is a bit extreme.
Quote:
For your safety, never share things like your full name, your phone number or your home address, or anything else that could be used to identify you in the real world. Sharing personal information over the Internet can be dangerous; you never know who might read it. In addition, please make sure that your Gaia Online member name does not say too much about you -- a dangerous person might combine various clues about you to figure out who you are. Think twice about posting photos of yourself; people may misuse those photos, or use them to figure out information about you. Posting your private info is not only against our Terms of Service it's against common sense!

I am aware that it could cost them money for every false info sent in, but they should not have let shady characters advertise false offers in teh first place.

Those who defy it are granted glory.

rofl Pancho_52, you live a vivid life, don't you?

SERIOUSLY, don't put false info in the offers because that is not protecting yourself, it is FRAUD. Just DON'T DO THE OFFERS AT ALL.

If you want them to listen to you about how you're not in support of these offers, you'll have to abstain from participating in them. It would be like saying "smoking kills people and cigarettes should be banned," while lighting up. No one likes a hypocrite.

Dx It's a good thing this s**t has viruses in it. If they were safe, as far as for your computer, I probably would have entered fake info... like I did on a few of the offers I did for the Vampires app on ********. >.>;;

Yeah.I was thinking about it,but looked at the descriptions trying to find something that was free and suitable maybe, and when the announcement came,I was really surprised.Seems like Gaia staff has been abducted or forced into, saying the exact opposite of what they advertise.

Teif
Actually, Gaia has a good reason for banning people for false information. As quoted in my thread with higher-up feedback, Pirula has said that when some one submits false information, Gaia is charged for it, because it is fraud through their site. Gaia can't do anything about it because they have a very specific deal with GetGambit, and I'm sure somewhere in it, it says something like "In the case of false information you will be charged 'x amount' for out trouble".

Though, it's also been said that people who submit false information are not banned from GAIA, but are banned from GetGambit.

Here's a novel idea. If Gaia does not wish to be charged for false info...they can cut ties with GetGambit and TAKE DOWN THE OFFERS!

No offers means no false data, means no charges. I am tempted to hold a thousand-mule data protest and make it so expensive for Gaia to keep the offers up that they will have no choice but to get rid of them.

Hello Chilluns! I thought I'd copy on over a quote from the Offers FAQ secretly tucked away in the OMGaia! forum concerning false info.
Quote:

I saw in the forums that you can get banned from Gaia for inputting false information in a sponsored offer. Is that true?

GetGambit requires that you enter accurate information when completing an offer. If they find that you are entering in false information they may prevent you from being able to take advantage of their offers further. This is a GetGambit procedure, and will not affect your Gaia account.

Where are these people getting the idea that Gaians are being banned for using false information?

to be fair on gaia (dont get me wrong i dis-agree to these offers as much as the rest of you) Gaia isn't asking you to hand out personal information, these sites are asking for it, not Gaia.
Though yes they need to get themselves in order, they can't say one thing then let another site say another

One of my friends made out one of these offers, fakes his way though the entire thing and used an IP mask. Now he has about 2499 GC just for BSing the entire offer...*shifty eyes*

And fin has yet to PM me back...oh, everyone else says he's a nice guy and all and that, for a CEO he actually sits down and listens, but when I sent him a PM before joining the guild...well, he hasn't gotten back to me yet.
