I've gotten it a few times. I just ignore it.
Although the rewards may be worth more in terms of Gaia Cash, it's a total waste.
Sell the key in the marketplace for about 34k+ and you'll make more than enough to buy even the most expensive of the cash items they offer in gold, and still have pleanty left over.

I've used several, but have never gotten anything worth more than the key on the MP. I did get a couple fish that I can use, though.

I opened one earlier and got a lazer fish!
He's in my tank now if anyone wants to say hi.
It was the first time I've opened a chest, so I don't know much about it, sorry.
