Hello, my name is Katonk I am 100% chinese, and speak Cantonese fluently, but 've still got lots to learn. My goal is to learn Mandarin so I can talk with some of my ESL friends. My parents taught me how to speak Canto ever since I was born. Unfortunately, I never successfully learned how to read Chinese. But I do know some! I know 1-10, moon, mouth, love, mountain, rain, door, student, teacher, you, and a few more. But I cant even write my own name gonk Listening to music is a MAJOR part of my life. I cant go a day without it, and its like a DRUG (seriously,I went into withdrawl when I was deprived from it for a day). I listen to 周杰倫 (Jay Chou) and I like Twins, even though they've broken up ages ago. Damn you 陳冠希, if you didnt look so good in Initial D, i'd be a lot more pissed at you! 反正... I dont know how active this guild is, but i'll do my best to teach anyone who wants to learn Canto! And i'll try to use decent pinyin! mrgreen

Hi. I'm BBC (british born chinese, cantonese). I used to go to chinese school at the weekend but stopped after a few years. I can speak basic cantonese and some mandarin phrases (thanks to chineselearnonline podcasts) and read some chinese characters but I don't feel confident enough to speak aloud to people because my pronounciation sucks. :] I'd be happy if I can read the celeb gossip in a chinese newspaper ;p

(bad chinese grammer... along with bad english grammer i suppose) mrgreen

Hi, I'm Dennis. I've been studying mandarin for 3 years in high school, but didn't do so well, and did 3 semesters of college mandarin so far. I'm hoping to study abroad in Taiwan next summer. If you see any mistakes in my chinese, please feel free to correct me.

apparently i couldn't even speak proper chinese when i was a kid. I spoke a mix of shanghai-nese and something (maybe my family's dialect). the chinese teachers at my school couldn't understand me. lol.
i was put into that class for kids that didn't speak english till first grade. so i guess they erase anything chinese from me.
my older sister wasn't put into that class and she speaks (or trys to speak) in chinese with my parents. i don't bother speaking chinese cuz i can't seem to form sentences...

我叫犸的林 ( My name is Madeline). 我十七岁 (I am 17). 我学习汉语二岁 (I have studied Chinese for 2 years). I don't know if the grammar on the last sentence is correct.
I have a pretty terrible accent?
