Kage_Komori I KNOW!!! I feel so bad for Amelia!! She had finally found someone that she really liked and who she couldn't turn into a cat!!!
I hope she doesn't blame Sookie for his death or anything. That is one of my biggest fears. I would LOVE for that to happen. heart rofl Also, Dawson wasn't technically part of the pack; more of an associate.

I started and finished the book Sat. In one sitting, I'm so mad at myself. now I have to wait until June 2nd for books in other series to come out.
I'm petty peeved. There has never been a bad Sookie book or short story. But, I qualify this one as bad. It seemed rushed, smooshed and desperate. There was way too much going on. It seemed like Charlaine was desperate to tie up every loose end she's left in previous books. Weres are 'out' - check. Sister in law situation - check. Backstabbing bff situation - check. Unwanted roommate - check. And then some...
Plus, the needless death. I'm seriously pissed that Dawson and Claudine are gone. More so Caludine. I wanted so badly to throw the book across the room, but then I realized it was an ebook on my laptop.
When I finished the book the only thing I could say was "Well, now what?" There really isn't anything left aside from the nephew situation. And the Eric vs Bill thing. Which, let's all be honest, gets old.
On a positive note, Yay! Bubba's back!

It was way too rushed. Three days is simply not enough time for all this s**t to go down.

I just finished re-reading a book in another series where the book has multiple things happen in the course of 3 days (and let me add that it's a vampire book so really it's 3 nights since they sleep all day) and it was more believable and didn't seem rushed like this does.
What's everyone's theory's and speculation on Charlaine's thought process of this book?

I think the 10th book will be a final book cause every creature has had its war: the weres, vamps, fae. It wasn't really a book so to speak as much as a crossing over to what's to come. The fae had to be closed off or be exposed that was the only option so this was their war and the classic plot of two nature love was the focus. Basically the 9th book was written just to close some doors that don't have to be open in the 10th, but it causes some doors to be open such as with Sookie's cousin Hunter, and Barry and the FBI. Oh and as always the classic boyfriend struggle although this could be the war for book 10: vampire vs vampire vs werewolf vs weretiger. Where does the guys loyalty truely lie? With their own kind or with their love for a part human part fairie? Ahhh such complexity leads to great stories...
In my opinion anyway!

I'd really have to reread the book to really figure out the thought process. And since my copy of D&G is currently in Atlanta I'm not going to be able to do that any time soon.
But I think Charlaine wanted to give us a little change of pace. While Sookie is always getting into trouble and getting hurt nothing like this has ever really happened to her that is this severe. The violence has never really directed at her, she was never really in the center of the action she just got pulled into it.
I also think she wanted to give us something that would change Sookie physically and mentally. No one comes away from being tortured unscathed. I think now that she will be more determined to get the normal life that she has craved for so long. I think now she'll start to really stand up for herself even more, she won't let the vampires kind of bully her by threatening her friends and family.
Hopefully this will also make Sookie open up to those around her and finally start the healing process.
And you know fans will be jumping at the release of book ten.

I was amused by what Eric did to Sookie the reaction was priceless!
Sad about Crystal and Claudine.
I wasn't mad at Bill like everyone else was. I think he was just trying to do what was right.
As much as I love Eric, I think Niall was talking about Bill.

I thought that Niall was talking about Bill at first too, but several people pointed out to me that everyone knows that Bill loves Sookie. What would the point be for Niall to tell Sookie that Bill loves her? She already knows that. However, she isn't so certain about Eric. She assumes that all of the feelings are because of the blood bond.
That's why I'm more inclined to believe that he was speaking about Eric instead of Bill.
Or maybe he was talking about Clancy...

Kage_Komori Or maybe he was talking about Clancy...He was speaking in the present tense, and Clancy was dead again. I think it's Bill, because he rescued Sookie after the torture, and he worked and lost a lot during the last fight. 3nodding

I was being sarcastic about the Clancy remark. I know it wasn't him. Although it would have been funny, in my opinion.
Speaking of Clancy, why do y'all think that Eric cried when he died?

Speaking of Clancy, why do y'all think that Eric cried when he died? Them vampires cry blood, right? That brings us back to the Drainers in the first book, and Drainers in general. Flawed logic on their part is flawed logic (on their part). Unless that's not common knowledge.

I don't think Bill saved Sookie for any reason other than he has to answer to Eric and since Sookie is pledged to Eric he would be in big trouble if he didn't protect her. Plus Eric already said he called Bill to watch her since he was already so close to her. Not that Bill don't still have feelings for her but it would be huge if Bill made advances to Sookie who is pledged to his boss. That would be a big mistake.
