amandapace7: For the first little while after I had my girls even if I had to go to the store I would leave them home with Hubby or get my mom to watch them (either here or more often at her place).
I don't know if you have anyone near you that could/would be able to watch Jonah while you're there. It's a thought though.
electricdecember: My doctor told me to keep people away from my girls when they were little. She said "If you have to blame it on me. Tell them that the doctor doesn't want anyone near the baby."
With strangers I never worried too much about if they took offense or not. I tried not to be rude, but "you can't please all the people all the time." If they took offense at me doing what I considered to be in my baby's best interest than so be it. I had to learn to not let it bother me. (easier said than done though—I know.)
As far as family goes I still laid down the rules. Like I mentioned in my first post I have an aunt who took offense at this, but most of the family understnads.
I still remember going to Thanks Giving (I think that's the right holiday) dinner with my girls and Hubby's cousin (who's actually only 3 years older than Kay) was sick, so the family kept her downstairs and brought her dinner there and spent time downstairs watching movies and playing games and stuff with her while part of the family was upstairs with Hubby and me and our girls. People kinda took turns with who they visited with so that no one felt neglected.
If you let your family know in advance that you don't want the children arond your baby they'll likely help you out.
