I'm gay and for gay marrige, its really sad that the government makes laws that opress alot of people, and they claim that it is fair. really just wish the government would start living up to the ideals of the US being a free country.

So here's the thing about me:
I am a member of a VERY strict christian religion
I support gay marriage 100%
Many people in my religion have said that you cannot be part of our religion and support gay marriage or be gay.
I laugh at the above statement
Some one can break all or some of the 10 commandments and still be part of my religion
But someone who is just NATURALLY attracted to the same sex, is supposedly a sinner and cannot be part of said religion.
Can you see why I laugh?
My ex-fiance is bisexual and and gay-rights activist. He opened my eyes and heart to the world and I love him for that. I just wish we still loved each other like we did before.
Anyway
there's my 2 cents.

Last year I led a JSA debate about removing the words 'under God' from the pledge of allegiance. It made me realize just how predominant the Christian religion is in America, and also by how large a margin they overestimate their own numbers.
The Constitution states that religion should be unrelated to affairs of the state, such as the union of two people. Originally I supported civil unions, but now it has become apparent to me that they fall short of a marriage in the way that many of the couples' rights are still denied. I honestly don't even see how there can be an argument against gay marriage, seeing as religion, the only reason for denying gays their rights, is irrelevant here.

While I do not agree with marriage as a contract between those involved and the State, if we are to have such a set-up then I would want to see this extended to homosexuals (and polygamists). One of the biggest arguments we see from those opposed to homosexual marriages is that it supposedly originated from and speaks to relationships involving one male and one female. However cross cultural studies lead us to the conclusion that not only has a form of marriage been present in most, if not all, cultures, but the form and structure that it has taken differs greatly. For instance on the polygamy issue, approx 66% of cultures have been polygamous! On the homosexual issue, there have been several cultures which have allowed people of the same gender to marry. I recall hearing about a patrilineal society in the Pacific ocean which allows two females to marry. One symbolically becomes the husband. I hear that this is done so that she also qualifies for inheritance as a result of this.

My Christian grandmother. MY GRANDMOTHER. D*mned me to hell because I do not beleive in Christ and because I am Bisexual.
Can you list all the thing wrong in that statement?

Heya, I'm new, and sorry if this is the wrong place to put this. BUT im also responding, so dont get your pants in a bunch. ^^
I'm 14, a fully confirmed Catholic, (gasp! you all must be shuddering right now) and fully believe that gays and lesbians should have every right to marry. (I'd be extremely appreciative if you all put stereotypes aside. They blind you and keep you from seeing the whole picture.)
I believe one of the reasons the American government has yet to make it legal everywhere is because they are so afraid of offending others. When our country was first established, laws were made for our good. Now, nothing gets done because every law offends [i ]someone.

I'm a 13 year old girl and straight. I believe in gay marriage. I hate how they won't make it legal. It's about love not gender. We're all equal and we have rights. It's like saying guys can't dye their hair because it's for girls. I hate how people make fun of gays and call them "fags." I find it insulting. I am one of the few people who believe it's wrong. I defend gays. We're all people. God made us all the same. Our imperfections make us perfect. People forget the golden rule "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." What happend to that? Just because they're interested in the same gender doesn't mean they're not like everybody else. It's like saying "Oh, you like country? Wow you're f**." I think that's wrong. That's another issue I'd like to point out. They throw the word around like it's nothing, it can cause so much damage. I'm all for gay marriage.

I'm straight, I believe in God but I'm NOT a religious freak, and I support gay marriage. smile Religion is irrelevant here to me.
