Renault was about ready to leave his house, and find this "Lena" person, when he noticed he should bring the orb. He had just found out there was a Lena that lived fairly close to the river. About a mile away. "I can't forget this, now can I?"
Renault trodded out the door and walked along the soft, fertile soil. He just passed the fountain in the village square and out into the forest that was about 20 yards long.
When he got out of the forest he walked along the street curb, since he was now in the "city." Not that many people visited where he lived, so it is fairly small, and quite hidden. He balanced on the curb, holding the orb in his hands. The sun shone against his back as people started to pass by. Some stared. He just ignored them and walked along. He was hoping to meet someone new.
----
In the city was where Kay lived, in a appartment not far from the city square. And by a simple chance of coincidence, she happened to be there this very moment. Camera hanging from her neck, she looked around for photo opperutnities. Sometimes ones of street proformers sold well in the markets. As did artist style ones of the city. Of course there was always the slim chance something interesting might happen and she'd be able to sell the photo to the press.... but no luck yet.
As she scanned the area, she spotted the young male holding something as he walked along. She squinted and picked up her zoom lense to have a closer look... the thing... in his hands. It looked very much like the one she had wrapped up safe in her pocket! Could he know more about the strange static marble she'd found?
Intent to find out, she wandered over nonchalant.

Ren saw a girl, who looked quite eager, walking closer to him. He was a bit scared at first.
He continued down the sidewalk, and it was only a few steps away till the woman was getting near.
He intentionally walked past the girl, hiding the orb, and hoping she wouldn't notice.

Kay wasn't put off so easily by a quickened pace and change in stance to cover the large marble he seemed to be carring. Finding a marble herself, of about the same size and that kept giving her static shocks was something that tended to niggle at the mind. She waited a second, looking around at the other people walking by, and then hopped up to appear just slightly behind the young man, her own paced quickened to keep up with him.
"Hey there... Have you lost something?" She asked, very vaguely. Well, if she described the item in question he might claim to have lost it, without being the actual owner. If she didn't describe what it was he might have lost, and he had no knowledge of it, she could keep it and keep looking.... or just keep it.
----
"Excuse me?" He hesitantly spun around to see the woman standing there and he replied, "Not recently. At least I don't think so." He tucked the orb farther into his arms, hoping that she wouldn't get any funny ideas.
He saw her also getting a little nervous, and she seemed to also be protecting something in her pocket. "Well I'll be off then..." he shrugged and paused. "Wait. Are you by any chance, Lena? And what are you hinding? It's very obvious that you are."

"Lena? No, no idea who that is. I'm Kay." She gave a funny little smirk, please with his response that he hadn't lost anything.... That meant he hadn't lost the one she'd found. But he did have an orb similar to her's. She'd seen it before, even if he was covering it up now.
"And me hiding anything? Unlikely... At least not as poorly as you're hiding that marble." She put on hand on her hip and pointed at his closed arms and hands with the other.
----
"I guess not then. I'm Renault. But if you call me Ren, that would be okay."
He hesitated when Kay asked. He opened his arms and he showed the girl the orb. I found it by the river, about a mile from here.
----
"Okay Ren." The girl nodded, not wanting to give away too much about herself to a complete stranger. Ok, so she knew his name but that didn't exactly count. He could still be some weirdo who likes to carry around marbles as if they might explode or something.
She leaned over and peered at the orb when he did open his hands and show her. "By the river huh? Yeah I can see, it's a bit cracked. Otherwise a nice marble. You a collector or something? I got one I found too..." Carefully she pulled out the handkerchief that she had wrapped the black marble in so it wouldn't keep giving her static shocks. "Whatcha reckon? It's weird this one though... touch it." She held it out to him. Hey, the shock it gave off wouldn't hurt, just surprise, and it'd explain it better than she could in words.

"Yeah. I don't collect these. I am wondering myself what these are. I'm on my eay to find this "Lena" person. I don't even know if I'd even see her."
He leaned closer as Kay gestured to touch the orb. He touched it and his whole body froze. "Woah! You should be careful with that!" said Renault as he slowly backed away.
"Wait! Don't get near the crack! I got near it and the substance inside, which I think might be fog mixed with some other chemicals, and I almost choked! Please. Stay away. I don't want anyone to get hurt because of me. And I think I should also be heading off soon."

Kay hid an evil smirk when poor Ren got a little shock from touching her marble. She'd done exactly the same thing when she'd first found it and it was somewhat amusing to see it happen to someone else too. "Yeah, it's got some constant static to it. Odd don't you think?"
She backed off a step when he warned her about his own marble's weirdness... Seemed the crack was leaking gasses? Possibly toxic gasses?! "Woah! Well you shouldn't just run around in public with it. Put it in a jar or something. Especially if you think it's going to make people sick!" She looked at him warily. Yes... putting some distance between them might be good and she was about to make her departure when something occured to her.
"Hey, before you run off, who's this Lena person? You think she knows about your gassy golfball there? Maybe I should pay her a visit. What's the address?"
----
"I think it's safe to bring it out. It's only if it's direct contact. I don't know...actually. All I know is that its about a mile away from the river, where I found it. Sorry. Well I hope to see you later!"
Ren ran off right after and he ran to where the fountain was.

Aftermath ::
When Renault got to the fountain he saw a little house a few yards away. He quickly ran to the house and knocked on the door. No answer. "Hello?" he asked as he looked around. He found a note laying on the ground..."Hello. Lena here. Sorry, I'm not here. I probably won't be here for a while."
"Great..." He looked at the note even more and saw the initials S.K. on it and the name Kohae in a very neat way. It was very ornate. "Seraphii Kingdom?"

Today, while walking home I bumped into this young girl. Her name is Chai. She also has a Seraphii! It came from dust..OMG! But I dropped the orb and a thick fog came over us! The air became so dense~!! Also it seemed like it wasn't real since the people walking by didn't notice. Was it a dream?
Then she came over to my house and she told me all these things. Now I'm like really excited, cuz I can't wait to see what the orb will look like!
She also gave me her number. I hope we can keep in touch

Renault was hurrying back home. He had so many thoughts flowing through his mind. "Seraphiies...or SK...and that there could be so many other of these orbs...or whatever these are!!" He headed back into the city trying to dodge everyone that didn't seem to pay attention.
Ren was holding his orb tightly is his arms. Hoping no one would notice. Like Kay did. He was hoping he wouldn't bump into anyone on his way or else he might drop the orb! "Wait. I don't want to jinx myself, now do I?" he mummbled.
----
It was about noon, and the streets were lively with people. Chai had decided to take a stroll through the city today because of the nice weather. Remiel was back at home, probably sleeping, like he always seemed to be doing. She wouldn't admit it, but she was kind of glad he hadn't come with her today. Whenever he was around, she always got nervous and paranoid, no matter how friendly her surroundings. Maybe it was a Seraphii thing. Though she had a feeling it was probably just a Remiel thing.
Chai turned the corner, looking at the clear sky and not paying attention where she was going. A young man who was clutching something to his chest darted from around the corner at exactly the same moment, and he and Chai collided painfully. The white-haired girl stumbled back, holding her head. "Owww..." she moaned. The bump would probably be really big tomorrow!! Just great...
----
Renault was trying to get home as fast as he could, and he acciedentally bumped into the young girl. "Owww..." he heard her say. He followed suit. "Oww." his quickly reacted into using his hand to try and lessen the pain. Of course, he needed both hands to hold this orb, so he dropped the orb on the hard cement. The blanket rolled on the orb to cover it up unraveled and revealed the purple-greyish orb. It's crack was facing up.
"Uh-oh...that can't be a good thing." he yelled to the girl. He quickly ran to the ground to cover it so the fog wouldn't come out. He picked it up and loocked to the sky above him. It was too late. The fog already came.

Chai vision was suddenly very limited and very grey. "H-huh?!" she yelped, dropping her arms from her head and looking from side to side in a panic. How did a fog suddenly come out of nowhere? Did the blow to her head cause her to hallucinate or something?!
"Uh-oh...that can't be a good thing!" The strange man yelled, and Chai thought "NO DUH!" before moving over to him and grasping his arm. "What's going on?!" she shrieked in his ear. The fog was oppressive, seeming to come from nowhere and everywhere all at once. It somehow reminded Chai of the weird mist that had come out of the dust, just before Remiel emerged. But that was silly, this man couldn't have a Seraphii as well, could he?

"Hold your breath!!" Ren yelled just before he did so. The young girl grasped his arm and he covered the orb. He groped the orb to try and find the crack. He stuffed the blanket into the crack hoping it would stop. He could feel the fog going through his lungs. He had a very hard time breathing.
After around 10 minutes, the fog slowly dissapeared. The weird thing is, is that the people didn't notice. Like nothing was even happening to us. "Was it a dream?" he thought. He unraveled the orb looking to see if it was okay.
----
At the weird man's command, Chai covered her face with her shirt and tried to breathe as little as possible. True enough, the fog started becoming denser, filling her lungs until she was struggling to breathe. The man had picked up some kind of purple orb and was trying to cover it up with a blanket. She watched him struggle with it for a couple of minutes before the fog suddenly began to thin and disperse.
Chai coughed a couple of times before she could talk. "What happened?!" she demanded, looking around to see if the pedestrians around them had been affected by the fog. Strangely, everybody else on the street seemed unaffected. That was strange!

"I don't know how all this started. I was walking home from school when I saw something in the river! It was really strange!!" he confessed. "This orb thing is really making me worry..." Renault showed the gir the orb. "Do you know what in the world this thing is? Just the other day, I alsmost choked to death..."
"Well, if you DO know...would you want to come by my house? I don't really feel comfortable talking about this here...;;" he said as he was hoping she wouldn't think he'd like kidnap and like do stuff to her....@o@

"Choked to death?! That's really dangerous," Chai said, frowning at the man. Well... it couldn't hurt, right? The man looked too nervous to be of any real harm. Unless he was a good actor, of course. Chai gave him a bright smile and said, "Okay! We can go to your house and try and figure out your mysterious orb together."
Chai grabbed his arm, careless of the orb, and pointed in a random direction. "Let's go!"

Ren pointed to the forest, where they had to pass through first. "We have to go through here first though. Don't worry, theres nothing harmful in here~~" They walked together until they reached the wooden archway.
"We're here!!" He walked through the village, gretting everyone he passed by. The elders gave him a wierd look. They finally got to his house. He opened the door and went in. "Come on in." he said "Sorry for the mess. I've been studying a lot...Especially about....Searaphiies..." he whispered.

The village the man lived in seemed very peaceful and friendly, and Chai looked in awe at the buildings and people as they passed. They finally got to his house and she took his invitation when he opened the door, darting inside quickly.
"Sorry for the mess. I've been studying a lot..." He said, surprising Chai. Was this guy some kind of scholar? Wow! She kept meeting such cool people lately. First Lena, who told her about Seraphii, then Jinju, who was an amazing artist, and then this guy! Head spinning, Chai nearly missed the next thing he said. "Especially about... Seraphii..." he whispered.
She immediately spun around to face him. "Did you say Seraphii?!" she demanded. "You know about them?!"

The young girl hurriendly went in the house. "By the way, we haven't been formally introduced yet, and you're already at my house! I'm Renault Shikamoto. I love researching on things pasts and I am trying to find more abou this orb. The one that caused us trouble in the city." he shrugged.
"Did you say Seraphii?!" she demanded. "You know about them?!" she really made Ren turn around very quickly. "Do you?!! I have no idea what's happening! I tried to find Lena, but she wasn't home. I've been researching so much about them, but I still have no idea what this orb is." he laid it on the table while putting some books away. "Do you know what they are? I'm really confused right now. I also met someone named Kay who has a orb also! It produces some sort of electricity, while mine produces fog.."

Chai, caught up in the moment, hastily introduced herself ("Uh you can call me Chai."), moving on to discuss the Seraphii. "Oh, I was more lucky! I actually got to meet Lena. She told me more about my dust-- you guys have orbs but I got dust--and said that if I took care of it, it would turn into a little creature... called a Seraphii! I didn't believe her at first but then something happened and now I have a little boy living in my house! He won't talk to me but I think that's because he's still really young..."
Chai paused, considering. Then she said, "I found my dust in a spooky attic at this one mansion I had been cleaning... there were like red stains in it and stuff. Even thought the powder was inanimate, it still scared me a lot. Then my Seraphii came out and he was even freakier! So I guess that if your orb makes fog, your Seraphii will be fog-like...?"

"Okay, 'Chai'" he said as he paid attention at what she had to say. "Really? Dust? So they really DO turn into angels--...and demons? I still have to look into this." he said as he continued on.
"Yeah I guess..." I found this thing in a river. I found some news reports about a week ago saying that there was a thick fog around that area and someone reported that something fell from the sky. My theory is that when it fell, it cracked, the fog went inside, then it fell in the water, which gave it a thin icy surface so the fog wouldn't come out all at once."
"But, I'm glad I found another owner of one. Wait, yours changed already? That's awesome!! I can't wait to see it...someday. I hope mine does also. At least now I'm not as confused..." he shrugged as he said, "Would you like a drink?"

Chai nodded at his explanation of how he found his orb. "It makes sense," she agreed.

Chai smiled at him and said, "I'm sure your Seraphii will be cool! Lena's is really pretty and amazing... though I can't comment on my own." She laughed nervously, looking around as if she expected Remiel to come flying out of nowhere and kill her.
When he offered her a drink, she nodded and was about to accept, when it suddenly occured to her that Remiel might be awake and hungry now! She had been gone a really long time. "I'm sorry, Renault," Chai apologized hastily. "I have to go now, though! I'll meet up with you some other time, okay? Here's my phone number," she handed him a little slip of paper. "Call me if you find out anything else about Seraphii, okay?"
With that, she slipped out the door and ran towards the city. She just hoped Remiel wasn't too upset...

"Yeah, me too." he smiled.
He took the slip of paper and placed it on his desk. "Nice talking to you! See you around!!" he yelled as she ran out the door.

I started to have these weird dreams about a week ago. I heard on the news that there was a car accident because of a heavy fog. I thought that the orb might have done it. I began to get paranoid. I didn't sleep in a long time!! I decided to drop the orb into the lake to ease my suffering, but that didn't work. All that did was produce a heavy fog around ME! I got really scared, but I saw a baby, floating on a cloud. It was a asleep. I went to the river to see if the orb was still there, and it was gone!! I was wondering if this orb turned into that child!!
I fell asleep afterwards on the street and when I woke up, I was at home! I have no idea how I got here. But I found that baby in my room! It was still sleeping though. I have so many questions about this. I wonder if this is what Chai was talking about. I remember her saying something about Remiel? Who's that? Maybe I'll meet him someday.

Quest . Grab Your Brushes!______________Quote: The benches outside the HQ need a repainting. Go find some brushes and paints, and get to it! Make sure to make the coat nice and even... the benches are supposed to compliment the centerpiece of the front yard, the fountain! (What color will you paint the benches? What method will you use? Who will you get your supplies from?)
Renault trotted towards the HQ and entered the building only to find that Kohae was gone doing an errand. The receptionist did say that she Ren a note. It said that he was free to color the benches any color he wanted, as long as it complimented the fountain and the courtyard. But she also said that they had no supplies anywhere in the HQ. "Great. Just great. Where am I supposed to find paint supplies?! I suppose I could go to the store to get them, but I have no idea which way it is!" Negel, awakening once again from all the noise that Renault was making, pointed to a direction sleepily. "Do you think that's the way?" Negi responded with a nod and started to float towards that direction. "Hey! Wait up!"
A few minutes later Renault found the store. "Negi was right!" he thought as he entered the decently small store. He saw a cashier reading a book and started to ask her a question, but before he could speak, she put her finger to his mouth and paused and read for a bit until she turned the page. She placed the book down and said, "Don't interrupt me at the most suspenseful part!! But whatever. What did you want to ask?" Renault was surprised from the woman when she suddenly spoke up and had to hide Negi quickly, "Err...Well. I wanted to know where your paint supplies are." She sighed as he picked up her book and pointed to a big sign that said 'Paint Supplies. Aisle 3.' "Thanks?" he said as he walked towards aisle 3 and he looked around, trying to hide Negel in his jacket. "Stay there okay?" he said as Negi pouted and looked away.
Ren took awhile picking out the paint and supplies and left the store, after he paid of course, with a bag full of different colors. Mostly shades of light blue and white. He had the idea of painting it sky blue, to match the sky and the fountain, and add some clouds and some stars. He didn't want the benches to look exactly like the sky so he chose to get a darker shade. He thought it was a pretty good idea since the Seraphii had clouds and it sort of reminded him of heaven. With all the Seraphiis with wings. And of course Kohae.
Renault arrived to the benches and was quite surprised when he saw them. "Kohae was right. These benches really need a make-over. The paint is all chipped off! And of course, it isn't done very neatly. Someone was sure in a hurry." he sighed as he sat on the fountain's edge. He gently lifted Negi and placed him down. "As suspected. He's asleep. Well what do you expect when he is only a baby? I hope I can get this done before he wakes up! I want to surprise him!" He quickly laid out the paints and paintbrushes. "Wait. How should I paint these? I want them to be neat and long lasting. Maybe I should paint the whole thing first and then...." he rambled on and on until he finally decided. He would paint them all once then when they dried he would paint over another coat. Then he would paint on the clouds and stars with the smaller brush. "Okay! Perfect!" Ren rolled up his sleeves and started to paint.
It took about two hours to get all the benches coated once. He assumed that it would take around three more hours to paint the other coat and the clouds. When he finished, like he assumed, he took 3 hours. He was actually proud of how they looked! They really matched the fountain really well. "Phew" he sighed, "They look perfect! I hope that Kohae likes them!" Last but not least he got out a paper and felt tip marker and wrote 'DO NOT SIT!! WET PAINT!!' in big, bold, neat letters. He was finally done with the job! "What a day's work!" he sat back down on the fountain's edge to stretch his legs. Negi rubbed his eyes and blinked twice. He looked at the benches and squealed. He was really happy. "Well we have to go now. I'll just leave the receptionist a note for Kohae telling her I'm finished. Let's get going." Renault gently picked Negi up and started going home.

"Can you open your eyes?" asked Ren as he peered closely at the sleeping Seraphii. He tried to spread Negi's eyes apart like how a little child would do it's sleeping parents. They were shut tight! It was almost impossible to open them unless you wanted to hurt him. Ren thought it was a bit weird that he would sleep all day long. "That has to be abnormal." he thought as he plopped down onto his bed. He grabbed his pillow and stuffed it to his face has he was resting his eyes.
While he was resting, the sleeping Seraphii started to fill the whole room with fog. Ren opened his eyes immediately after the fog started to fill his lungs. He had the sensation. The sensation of no air. Ren felt like he was going to die. He tried to walk to the door to get fresh air, but it was hard for him because he hadn't breathed in what felt like eternity! The opened the door, with very little energy. He went outside and took a deep breath. "That was close. Almost too close! Maybe I should wait out here. I hope the fog will disappear." Renault sat down and started to think through all that has happened so far with the Seraphii. Before the fog totally disappeared he just remembered! The dream! The fog that killed the man! He looked closely at his house. The fog looked like it was stuck in his house. Like there was some sort of barrier around it. It couldn't escape. "Maybe Negel didn't cause that fog afterall! Now that I think about it, he is still young. Can he really have that much power at such a young age? Well, he can, actually. But I shouldn't think of the bad side of things!"
Renault was so relieved to find out that his Seraphii didn't cause the accident. Negel can only make fog appear in one room. Renault scrateched his head in confusion as he noticed that the fog started to disappear. He entered his house again, being cautious that there was no fog around to harm him again. He looked at the small Seraphii sleeping on his little cloud. Now seriously. I must be crazy to think that you could have killed the man." He tucked Negi into his arms, hoping he wouldn't wake him. Renault once again dropped down on his bed and started to close his eyes. He thought of all the things that have happened to him so far with the Seraphii. But before he knew it, he fell asleep with Negi tucked into his arms.

{ A White Christmas }
act one . Christmas Shopping
It was the time around Christmas. Especially the time to shop! Renault decided to do some Christmas shopping at the mall in Durem. "Ohhh! I love this time of year! Yaaayyy! Might as well get my Christmas shopping done soon, or else there will be nothing left! That would be horrible! I guess I should take Negi though. I don't want anything bad to happen!" Renault opened the door only to find snow, a blanket of snow. The leaves on the trees held the white snow as some couldn't take the weight and dropped it. The ground crunched as Ren walked across the walkway to the forest. The forest was even more beautful. Renault got to the city right when most of the stores opened. He looked around only to see every store lit up with colorful and vivid lights.
He saw so many shops that he loved so much, and some that looked very cool. He saw a delicious bakery, some cute Japanese dolls, clothing stores, pet stores, and so much more!! He had no idea what to get and for who! He wanted to spoil Negi with a lot of Christmas presents since he was the closest to him. "WOWWW!! So many shops! Which to go to first? I have to remember to get presents for mom and dad. Maybe I should go visit them over the holidays. I'll suprise them!!" said Renault as he opened the door to the bakery. The aroma was very sweet. It was total heaven. He looked at everything that they had. "Welcome." said the woman "Feel free to look around. Let me know if you want anything." she went under the counter to get some paper, which she was going to use to get the sweets. After 10 minuted, he finally decided. He told the woman and she grabbed them. She placed them in the bag which was very cute and handed it to Ren. "Have a nice day!" she said. "Thank you..." he squinted to see the woman's name tag and said, "Anna." "Your welcome!" said Anna as a smile was drawn on her face.
After around 2 hours of shopping, Renault was finally done with everyone on his list. But he still had to buy more presents for Negi. He decided to go home for the day. He pressed through the crowds of people that were lining up at this one store. Everything there was beautiful. He saw a sign that said, "Captured Spirits! Try your luck!!" "Woaaahh!! This looks cool! Well I might as well try. I am known for my luck." he mumbled to himself as he got in line. Just as he stepped behind a large woman, around 20 more people lined up behind him! He was glad he got where he was! When the line started moving, he was so close to the woman who was at the box with all the numbers inside. There were 500 tickets and only 10 were going to be chosen. He finally got to the front of the line. The woman told him to reach into the box and turn around. He did exactly that. In the box, he accidentally grabbed two!! He knew he could only do it once, so he thought in hi mind which he thought was the right one. There was a light in his right eye, so he let go of the one on the left part of his hand and picked it up. "Amazing! " he heard the woman say, "We have a winner!!" Renault opened his eyes, and blinked many times. "Whattt?!! I won?! Awesome!" There were people clapping for him and others that were slightly mad and mumbling bad things. "So there are 4 more left! Good luck everyone!" she smiled at the crowd as she told him to talk to the man behind her. "He will tell you all that you need to know." she whispered softly into his ear.
About 10 minutes later, he was on his way home. He was quite content on all that happened to him today. He held the captured soul in his hand and held Negel in the other, hoping he was okay. He was so excited to see Negi's expression when he got all his presents! Well that was if he could open his eyes at Christmas time!!
{ A White Christmas }
act two . The Way Home is Magical
Renault heard the crunching noise of the snow as he made footprints in the ground. He was on his way home, going through the forest, when he heard another crunching noise behind him. He froze. He slowly turned his head, only to find no one there. Just footprints that were stranded, nothing else around them. Renault got scared and started to walk faster. It felt like he was going around in circles! He heard a lot of strange noises around him. He was too scared to look back, so he looked straight ahead.
Renault heard something getting closer and closer. Just as he was about to turn around, when something pounced on him! The thing that was chasing him were 2 wolves that looked hungry. He wasn't sure what they were hungry for! They were jsut children though, not their parents. "Phew." he said as the wolves started to lick this stranger. They sniffed at the bag of goodies that Ren bought at the bakery. "Ohhh! So that's what you've been wanting!" He opened the bag and a sweet aroma flew into his nose. The wolves started to lick their lips. He gave each of them one cookie. He wanted to save the others for himself and for Negi! The wolves licked him again, and they ran off into the darkness of the forest. He looked up and the sun was setting already. "Wow..today went by really fast!" he said to himslef as he wiped his face with his sleeve and he continued to walk. The snow started and one fell on his nose.
He was finally home. He decided to put all the stuff that he bought on his desk so he wouldn't forget about them. "I guess I'll go take a shower and then wrap all these presents. Maybe I'll even have a treat for myself before I take a shower!" He opened the bag and bit off of a soft candy. "Yummm."
Before he went to the shower, he heard Negi wake up. He flew up on his cloud and tugged on Ren's shirt, or what he thought was his shirt, which was actually his hair. "You want one also?" He opened the bag and took a gummy bear. Which was almost as big as Negi! He handed Negi the bear and he started to nibble it. He had trouble chewing it because he didn't know it was so squishy! "I guess I can stay out here for now." he said as he picked up Negel and sat on his bed.{ A White Christmas }
act three . Holiday Decorations
As some may know, setting up a Christmas tree could be very difficult if you don't have the patience. This is what Renault is going to learn for the very first time.
Renault decided to get a Christmas tree this year. It would be the first time in years that he has had one. His dad wouldn't want a Christmas tree because, "It would just die anyways. It would be a waste of money!" "Sigh. I want a tree so bad! I wonder if I should get one...but there is no one to celebrate it with except Negel, who can't even open his eyes." Renault pressed his arm on the wall as he decided where he should put it if he got one. "And I don't even know if I have enough to get one! I don't want to ask Mom and Dad for help though..." Renault went to his small safe under his bed -- don't worry, it had a lock -- and turned the dial until it made a 'click' and opened. He looked at how much he could spend. Every year, he starts to save his money for what he calls his 'Christmas Fund' so that he can use that money every Christmas for gifts. But he didn't expect to get a tree this year! After counting his money he totalled what he had to be around $150 left. "I guess that is enough for a tree. Don't know how big though." He sighed again as he got his coat and went out. He locked the door and tucked his keys back in his pocket. It was colder than ever.
He crunched through the snow as he just though, "Oh my goshness (one of his 'words') !! I have no idea where I'm going! Maybe I can ask someone around here." He knocked on every door of the houses around him. Some of them didn't know, some couldn't even hear him, and some got really mad and started to whack Ren with their cane! But one couple knew exactly where he could buy a tree." "I think there is one near the shop on the corner of Blackberry Court. It is very big so you shouldn't miss it." staggered the old man. "I think there aren't that many trees left, mostly big ones are gone, so you'd better hurry." said the old woman as she gestured him a goodby. "Okay! Thank you for your time!!" He ran as fast as he could in the snow to the street the couple told him to go to to get the tree.
When he got there, there were only a few trees left since it was getting really close to Christmas. He rushed to pick out a affordable tree. He found one that was a little taller than him and exactly $88.00. He told the man who was at the cashier that he wanted that one. He paid the man and lifted the tree. It was actually lighter than it seemed.
He went on his way home, being as careful as he could with it. When he arrived home, he placed it on his living room floor and went out again. He also needed decorations and lights! "This was going to be the best Christmas ever." he said as he walked slower than before to the store. He counted his money on the way and found $61 and some change. He put it back in his pocket. His legs started to hurt from walking so he sat down on the soft snow and leaned his back against a tall and sturdy tree. He looked up at the sky. He thought of so many things. He also wondered wha Negi was dreaming at the moment. If he dreams at all that is. He also thought of calling Mom and Dad and Shadow, hoping they would be able to visit. Or maybe he could visit them. He had so much to do after he bought the decorations, but he had all the time in the world because he was off work for about 2 weeks.
He got up and started off to the store. He finally arrived there around ten minutes later. He went in the store as the little bell on top of him jingled. He bought all different colors of ornaments and lights and of course, tinsle. "Maybe I should also stop by the grocery store to get some food to cook." He payed the man the money for the decorations and had around $45 left. He stopped by the grocery store and bought some drumsticks and some other stuff. He was going to make Chicken on Christmas. He was hoping he would be able to see his family. "Maybe I should move back in them someday...I hope they let me"
He arrived home when the sun was setting. He put away all the food and put the ornaments on his bed so they wouldn't break. He put up the Christmas tree in the corner of his house and made sure Negi was safe and sound on his desk. He was still sleeping and had a little drool on his lips. Renault got a tissue to wipe it off and he threw it in the trash. "Well. I might as well get started on these decorations." he said as he rolled up his sleeves. He turned on some music and started to hum along with the Christmas songs...
"It actually turned out better than I expected!" he exclaimed as he stood a few feet away from the tree looking at how pretty it looked. "Oh! I almost forgot to put up the nativity scene!" he took each Biblical character out of the styrafoam box and gently placed them on the table beside the tree. Just like how his mother put hers. He was very pleased on how it all turned out. He gently picked up Negel and said, "I hope that someday soon you will see this. And not just in photographs." Negel made a little squee sound with his eyes still closed. But he was awake! It has been a while since he was last awake!! He had a sniffing noise as he smiled. Ren thought he smelled the nice smell of the evergreen tree. "That is the Christmas tree." he said. Negi looked confused as to what Christmas was. He felt around for Renault's hand and he sat in it and poked his palm. "Squueee..." "Oh! You want me to tell you all about Christmas? Can I also tell you about Jesus?" He nodded with a big smile on his face.
Renault told him all about it and Negi stayed awake the whole time. He looked very happy. He also sounded very excited to get to see the tree. That is if he could open his eyes by then! It was a very happy day for both of them. Negi started to sly around, and bumped into a few things along the way. The expression was priceless. This might have been the first time Ren smiled the whole day.{ A White Christmas }
final act . A White Christmas Afterall
It was the day of Christmas Eve. Renault was studying at his desk while Negel was blindly nibbling at gingerbread cookies that Renault had made a few minutes earlier, so they were very warm. Ren bit into one of the cookies as the crumbs fell into the books binding. "Sigh...Working on Christmas Eve. Though I don't really call this working. I really shouldn't slack off on getting the presents for Negi ready...But there's nothing else to do! A few more pages." he mumbled as he rested his head once again on his smooth hands. He flipped through the page and before he knew it, he fell asleep!

He felt something small tuggin on his shirt, like a small hand. "Mom, I'm trying to sleep!" he mumbled. He woke up and rubbed his eyes and blinked. His vision was very blurry. He blinked again. Still blurry. He blinked several times, but it didn't get any better. He looked down at his desk and his vision was perfectly fine. He looked up and realized it! He wiped the fog off of the window. It had snowed overnight!! He quickly spun around and found he had fallen asleep at his desk while reading and it was morning! Negi was the one who had been pulling on his shirt. He just realized that is was Christmas!

After a quick breakfast of pancakes and hot cocoa, and more cookies for Negel, it was time to open presents!! He handed Negi the various gifts that he boutght for him. He felt and smelled every single one, to get a idea of what it was he got. He opened the bad of sweets and the sugary aroma fell onto Negi's tounge, causing him to drool. He ate the candies first. After eating almost the whole bag in mere minutes, he licked his hands and a little, "Kyuuuu~" came out of his mouth. It wasn't the best, nor worse Christmas Renault had had, but it was still a white Christmas afterall.

The sound of the crowds of people flowed through all of the city. The Fifth Annual Lantern Festival officially started. Loud drums echoed through the village where Renault lived. He was getting on his yukata for the festival. He has been to a festival every year since he was very young. It is a tradition for him.
"Negii!! We're going soon!" Negi flew out into the living room where Ren just fit into his yukata. It was a bit small, but it would do. He didn't have time to buy a new one yet anyways. Negi flew up onto Ren's shoulder; his signature spot. It was his and only his.
A few minutes later, they were ready. Ren walked out the door and made sure Negi was on his shoulder. He closed the door and locked it. He heard the chatter almost all the people at the festival. He made his way on the long path, which was well lit with foot lanterns just for the occasion.
He made his way out of the forest and set foot on a totally different place. There were booths all set up along the road. People gathered around each one. There were lanterns hanging in the sky. They were like free birds. There was the aroma of food in the air. Everything was moving, nothing was stagnant.
There were also games lined up along the wall, with prizes. Negi sniffed the air and made a sound like he wanted some food. "Haha. Yeah, the food does smell good." exclaimed Renault "We'll go get some after we play some games first!!" Ren looked around for one of his favorite games; fish-catching. He spotted it in the corner of his eye and yelled, "Come on Negi! Let's play." Negi tried really hard to keep up with Renault since he was running.
He knew he wasn't a kid, but he sure acted like one. He played the fish-catching game every year, he has never stopped. It isn't techically a game, but just a booth for children. The object of the game is to get a net and catch a fish. The net breaks easily so it is very hard, but if you catch one, you get to keep it! Renault was excited. He grabbed a net and bent down. He swiftly moved the net in the water, but it broke. He tried many times, until he finally succeeded. "Yes!" he exclaimed. He didn't care that all eyes were on him, he just wanted to win. The man at the booth said, "Congratulations...I guess...but we actually are giving out these stuffed animals out also...since this is a bit hard..." Ren was embarrassed. "Which would you like?" Renault scanned the animals sitting on the rack. "Uhhhh...the octopus please." he pointed. The man handed it to him and he gave it to the seraphii on his shoulder. "Here, it's yours!"
It was getting late, and the people started to leave, but th excitement was still there! The finale of the festival was about to begin. Renault bought a mask to put on his head and cotton candy. He really felt like a kid. He also bought a new yukata, it was laying on the grass next to him. Crowds of people were on a huge, grassy hill to watch the fireworks go off. It was the most exciting part!
"BOOM!" echoed a large sound coming from the firing of the fireworks. Something awkward was happening though. Something with Negi; he was glowing! "Wow...it's beautiful...the firworks...I wish you could see it Negi." he sighed as he continued to watch. They were really beautiful. An unknown, high voice said, "Yeah...they are..."

Renault's eyes and ears perked up when he heard a voice. He slowly turned his head to the right, Negel wasn't a baby anymore! He could talk! He looked so much more mature. "Negi...what happened...to you..." Negi blinked and tilted his head to the side. "Where...am I?" he asked. This was the first time he has ever opened his eyes. Everything looked new to him. "What a great way to "wake up." For your first sight to see is the fireworks." thought Ren as he grabbed Negi. He held him close to his chest.
Negi was confused though. He had no idea who grabbed him. Many thoughts ran throught his mind as he thought of all the possibilites. The one that seemed to stand out the most was that the man, Renault, who had him in his grasp was a stranger, someone who might kidnap him. He started to panic and he had no control over his body. He opened his mouth and a grey fog started to extract from his body. The fog grew and grew and it was soon thick enough that nothing could be seen!
People started to panic, trying to find their way out of the fog. Everyone started to lose their breath, including Ren. He was right there so he was affected the most. He knew that is what Negi, but he couldn't do anything to stop him. He didn't have a voice to tell him anything. Negi tried to wiggle out of Ren's grip, but it was no use. All this started to stress Negel out. It was like he lost control of his body.
Renault got out a few words. He said, 'Ne--gi...it's me..Ren---." Negi was now confused. Was the person lying to him? Was it really his guardian? Thoughts once again ran through his mind. He thought and thought, and could tell from the man's voice, that he wasn't lying and most of all he was in danger! Negi tried to concentrate, using all his energy to get rid of the fog. He closed his eyes and stayed close to his guardian. The fog started to clear and things became visible. People stopped in their place and looked around. The fireworks lit up the sky, acting as a beacon to the people. They could tell they would be safe.
Negi looked up to see Renault's face as he tried to catch his breath. He was so sad and started to cry. Renault looked down to see the child wiping tears off his face. He lifted him up and looked at his child. "Now now, it's okay. Things happen. At least now you know who I am!" He grabbed the octopus plushie that fell to the floor earlier and he gave it to Negi. "Here." Negi grabbed it and held it close to his face, feeling the cool, soft fabric on his face. "Mmm...Thank you....Ren."

It was almost the end of the festival and Renault and Negel were preparing to leave. They bought a love of food and tons of sweets. Ren wanted Negi to try everything so he would know what he likes and doesn't like. Negi also wanted to try a lot of different things before the end, but before they knew it, the closing celebration started and the festival started to end. The lights started to dim and the once crowded street started to dissapear. "Wow, what fun, right Negi?" Negi nodded, still a little shy and not as talktative. He was still getting used to be able to talk and to see clearly.
Renault grabbed a hold of Negi and said, "Don't get lost now, we're gonna go home now. I don't want to lose you!" Renault lifted Negi in his hand and started to walk through the forest on the way home. The lights on the walkway were still lit up so that people could find their way and not get lost, but that didn't stop Negi. Negi flew off on his little cloud and started to dissapear. Just then a fog started to trail behind him. "Hey Negi, make sure not to get lost in this fog..? Negi?" Renault looked down to see that the little angel was missing. "Negi?! Negiiii!!!" He yelled, hoping that Negi would come back into his guardian's grasp.
Renault spent a few minutes trying to find his child, but there was no sign. He started to lower his head and was very worried, "Negi...where are you...?"
Renault gave up and thought it was hopeless. He returned home and looked up. The house was covered in fog! "Negi?!" He ran to the house and slammed the door open. "Negi?! Where are you?!" He exclaimed as he moved his hand to get the fog out of the way. "Right here. Where were you? I was worried....I got lost and thought I should just come back home.." he started to sniffle a little. "I was looking for you...I'm glad you're safe though." He lifted the child up and looked him straight in the eye. "Never lose sight of me. Make sure I can always see you, okay?" "Okay..." He sighed and said, "What a day..."

"AUGHH!! I'm gonna be late to my first "official" day at a job!" Renault just recently got hired at a very famous bakery in town and it was his first day. He woke up late, as always, and he had no time to get ready, but one little thing slipped his mind as he rushed out the door; he forgot about Negi. "Bye" echoned through the now empty house as his Seraphii watching him leave, with a smirk on his face.
Negi was in the stage where he needed constant attention and he needed someone to watch him, well he didn't, but it would be a good idea since who knows what he could do in his free time. He had just the plan on what to do now that his guardian was gone, he was going to have a little adventure of his own.
Negel was now along for quite a while now, Renault still didn't notice as he was busy serving the line of customers that had piled up in the doorway of the bakery. He rushed to get the now angry customers their order as he looked outside for a split second. A familiar face walked right in front of the bakery and all Renault could do was gasp.
"Hello?" A little kid knocked on the front door of Renault's almost-empty house. Negel's ears perked up as he went to see who it was. It was a short child with blonde hair and blue eyes. He had on a yellow shirt and Negi had no idea who he was. He had no idea what to think but that he was someone who wanted to kidnap him! Negel frantically ran around the house as he tried to find a safe place to hide.
"Hellooo??" questioned the kid once again, "Renault? Are you there? It's me, Ko." He tried the handle. It was unlocked. "I'm coming in!" he said as he walked in and looked around. "Renault?" He looked around as if it was his own house. Negel was shaking as he peeked underneath the bed. His heart started racing as fog started to emit from his body.
Ko returned to the living room as it was now covered in a thick fog. "What is this stuff? When did it get so foggy?" His throat started to choke as he held his hands around his neck. "Wha--...Help!" he yelled as he started to collapse to the ground.
....
"Negel, I'm hom--. Oh my gosh! What happened here?!" He found Ko on the ground, not knowing who he is. "How did he get in here?!" He looked around for his Seraphii as he tried to wake up the child. "Wake up! Wake up! Oh know, I don't want to be charged for the murder of someone I don't even know..." Negel came out of his hiding and said, "I dunno who he is...he started to knock on the door and I got scared so I hid, and before I knew it, the fog started to come out of me...I'm sorry..."
Just then, Ko coughed and blinked. "Huh? What happened?" He got up and looked around, his eyes facing Renault's. "Ren!! It's you! I knew this was your house!!" Renault was confused. "Who are you?" "You don't remember me?! Sheesh! It's only been 5 years! I can't believe you forgot about me!" Renault just sat there, clueless. "Ugh I can't believe you. It's me, Ko! Your cousin?" "Ohhh! Ko! I can't believe it's you! When did you get here?" "Oh just a few hours ago. Mom sent me to a school here, hoping that you would let me stay...?" "WHAT?!"
An hour passed by as the two cousins were catching up with each other. "So you want to stay here?" "Yup! If it's okay with you. I don't have anywhere else to go and you wouldn't like me to live on the streets now do you?" Ko started to make up a sob story so he could get what he wanted. "Sure I guess." "YAY!" He ran to Renault's bed and and looked up to the ceiling as Negel glared at him. "Rennnn~~ I don't want some stranger here. He scares me!" He pouted as he tried to get rid of the stranger. "I'm sorry, but there's nothing that I can do about it since his mom can get very mean. He'll just have to stay with us for a while." "Hmph!"
"Ko?" "Yea?" "I need to talk to you." Renault said as he yelled from the kitchen. Ko lazily walked to his cousin and said, "What?" with a very annoyed tone. "Since you're staying here, I need to ask you for a favor." "What is it?" "Well...I got this new job, and I really need a babysitter soo...." "Oh...No..No way am I babysitting!" "Please? Think of it as a payback for letting you stay here." "Nope! I'm not doing it!" "I'll tell your mom." Renault loved to tease his cousin, who was much younger than him. "I hate this!" he stomped out of the kitchen as Negel glared at him with a evil grin.
Ko walked into the room where he was staying and looked outside. He kept thinking and thinking about his new job which he had no choice about it. He sat on his bed and sighed, "Well, how bad can it be?"
