I kept my original party, but dumped Yukiko for Naoto because my MC developed -rama and -han skills near the end when good ol' Naoty became available. If Teddie remained the support and Rise was allowed into battle, I would've SO taken her. Unfortunately, she was like the Fuuka character of P4... Just give her some non-alcoholic soda and Rise and Yukiko would nail all the bosses in one strike XD
Ahaha. My MC is partly dating Yosuke anyway X3
At the group date cafe when they asked who we liked, I went "Yosuke!"
"Okay, we get it! You're good at roleplaying! Now stop creeping me out!"
"Oh, Yosuke. I wasn't roleplaying..."
And in his Social Link, I TOTALLY didn't hug him << >>

The last few battles, I had Brosuke, Teddie, and Yukiko. IDK, they seemed to have a better balance than anyone with me. It's good to have two healers, and I couldn't have done it without Teddie and Brosuke's stat bonuses.

In my first play, I used Yosuke, Yukiko and Naoto. But now, I'm using Yukiko, Chie and Teddie/Yosuke. Mostly Teddie though. (and for the boys I would totally date Yosuke (if I was Souji) ♥)

On my first play-through I stuck with Yukiko out of paranoia; I had just as many high end healing spells as she did but I used up magic faster and wanted to save my energy for attack and buff spells... then I eventually switched Chie and Yosuke for Kanji (his physical techs are useful) and Naoto, who I personally found indispensable for the final boss(es).
Nobody really outshines the other in terms of effectiveness, it's mostly a matter of tailoring your team to your play style. I tend to like to spam as many hard hitting attacks as I can right from the outset and then wittle away at the last of their health bar with physical attacks while I power up my magic users with the Focus technique. It's a crude strategy but tends to work more so for the recent ones than in P2 where there's a LOT more strategy involved, what with setting up combo spells and all.
As far as dating I'd be all over the Kanji business. And possibly Brosuke or Kou, although they can be twerps at times (and since Daisuke evidently finds girls more irritating than a stick in the eye). Being able to choose your gender would make the game far more engaging to more players, I think - it would be a nice change from just reusing female characters from previous games, like they did with P2 and FES.

I don't have Naoto yet, but right now I use MC with Black Frost persona, Yukiko as a main healer, kanji as a brute force kind of guy, and Teddy as a backup healer/magic user. I'm probably going to give up Kanji for Naoto, but I still have no idea.
Dating wise... honestly, I can't say too well. My first choices would have to be either Yukiko or Rise. If I had a girl MC, I would most likely pick Yosuke.
