Heh, all her feelings inside, Forcalor could read them almost like an open book by the way her face changed expression.
She did look like she was going to go trough with it, but at the same time she did also look like she was having second thoughts.
He grinned on the inside at that, conflicting emotions in others were much fun to watch.

"First you must finish putting everything together, the eye comes last, I shall help you when it comes so far." He replied.
He would give her the choice of either taking the eye out herself, but if she couldn't and still wanted to go thought with it, then far be to from him to help.

Kyeti seemed to straighten up a bit at that, almost as if challenged. Was he trying to say she couldn't do it? Kyeti wouldn't stand by for that. She would show him, prove to him that she was strong enough to deserve to be his student. She would rise to his challenge. "I will find a way," she said with determination, more to herself than to him. The last thing she wanted was to see too weak for him to bother with.

She gathered the final ingredients and turned back to Forcalor. "That should be everything that I need to start. What now?"

Forcalor grinned at that, so she was a feisty little one when it came down to it, he liked that, it just made him think that this would be even more fun that he had imagined.

He nodded as a confirmation to her.
"Now you start putting everything together, be sure to be careful, some of the things going in there are quite volatile when mixed, but I'm sure you can do it, you look like you have a good steady hand." He said, gracing her with a smile.

With determination Kyeti nodded and then took the book and set it back on the pedestal before moving the pedestal over to the wood stove. She had noticed that there was heat required to brew and mix the ingredients, but she also knew that it could heighten or dull the volatile reactions which Forcalor had warned her about. It was, thus, with an extra degree of care that she started placing the ingredients into the pot following the book's instruction to the letter. If her own eye was required as an ingredient for this then she had to make sure she got it right the first try because any second try would leave her completely blind. A small shudder ran down her spine at the thought, but Kyeti knew somewhere in her soul that she was determined enough to see this through to its end even if it cost her both eyes. She just preferred to have one remaining to see through at least.

She set a small, black cauldron on top of the wood stove and filled it about halfway with the base ingredient of any potion, water. Then with a careful diligence she began adding ingredients one by one. A pinch of this, a leaf or two of that, sometimes a ground powder, others a resin or liquid. Malah watched with no apparent interest as she always did when her master was cooking up some new concoction and occasionally the waterfowl's glance would slide to Forcalor as if it was Malah's job to keep an eye on him when Kyeti couldn't, or perhaps in this case, wouldn't. Indeed Kyeti seemed to have placed an undue amount of perhaps not trust but faith in Forcalor, and Malah wasn't so pleased or sure of that decision on her master's behalf.

Once the base ingredients were added, some of the more volatile ones were put in next producing mists and smokes of odd colors, or bubbling froth which had to be carefully stirred to settle it. It seemed Forcalor was right about Kyeti having a steady hand for soon the potion was brewing and mixing and a sickly sweet smell permeated the room from it. As the potion was brewing Kyeti pulled out the secondary ingredients she had lined up. These were not for the potion but were mixed and compounded in her hand with a bit of water to make a poultice for her eye. She could feel her heart hammering in her chest as she reached this point in the process. She knew she would have to be quick and sure and her steady hands were trembling with apprehension even as she picked up the tool which was shaped much like a spoon but with razor sharp edges that would easily slip between the eye and lid and cut it free. Several times she lifted it up to perform the incision but she could not steady her hand for this. Finally she lowered the tool and sighed softly in defeat. She would ruin the key component if she tried it herself. Reluctantly she turned to Forcalor and lowered her head. "I can't do it, Great One. Not without ruining the eye," she said reluctantly.

It was with great interest that Forcalor watched her put the ingredients together.
Slowly little by little, everything was coming together as it was supposed to.
His nose wrinkled when that overpowering sweet smell met it, he cared for sweets as much as the next person, but this was almost too much, though he brushed the thought asside for the time being, hard as it might be, returning instead to watch the female.
He could feel her tension as she approched the final step of making this thing work and he chuckled on the inside, waiting to see if she could do this or not.

So in the end it turned out that she couldn't, but then again who could blame her? She had after all been asked to take her own eye out, that would make just about anyone hesitate.
"Don't worry child, I said I woud help you if need be." He replied softly.
His mind kind of came to a stop at that and a sort of inner depate started.
Why was he being gentle towards her? He was supposed to just get as much fun out of this as possible and then just leave when ever he felt there was nothing else to be had.
This debate seemed to have gone on since he had accepted to guide her and it annoyed him to no end.
Was it that he was serious about this? Did he really want to have an apprentice so to speak, take her under his wing and teach her everything he could? What would the others of his kind think?
Usually he was known for being exessively lazy, not doing anything unless he absolutely had to, so how would that affect how everyone else looked at him?
Hmm so many questions and so little answers.

While his mind debated, he had just become quiet and was staring into space.
When he realized this however, he blinked and cleared his throath.
"Let me know when you're ready." He said.
Darn thoughts, with some hope he hadn't looked too strange spacing out like that.

Kyeti grabbed a towel and rolled it up tightly for something to bite down on and spread a small bit of a cream she had set aside with the poultice to numb the area around her eye. It wouldn't stop the pain completely, but it would at least cut the edge a bit. Gathering the poultice in her hand, Kyeti stepped over to Forcalor and nodded, placing the towel in her mouth and using her free hand to hold back her eyelid as she steeled herself for what was coming.

"Now don't you worry about a thing, it'll be over before you know it." Forcalor said.
The wings on his back fluttered slightly and his eyes narrowed as coloured smoke rose up around him.
He was going to try and use his inlufence to lessen the pain it would cause to take her eye out.

He held still for a moment and then with a swift movement he had taken her eye out in once piece, holding it out for her to take and throw into the caldroun.

Kyeti felt herself relax though she wasn't sure why. It was like there was a moment where everything went hazy and she felt a sharp jolt around her eye, and then...nothing. She blinked her one good eye left as she felt something running down her face, and upon dabbing it with her claw realised it was blood. It was done then? Yes, she realised as things came back into focus that it was done, and a shiver ran down her spine at seeing her own eye in Forcalor's hands. Her body must be in shock. She knew the pain would be immense when it wore off. Carefully she applied the poultice in her hand and then tied the towel around it to hold it in place and help staunch the bleeding, then she approached Forcalor and took the eye. She felt ashamed that she couldn't do it herself, but grateful that he didn't hold it against her. "Thank you, Great One," she said as she took the eye over to the cauldron and dropped it in. The liquid had brewed together into a strangely thick substance with a yellow hue to it, but as the eye dropped in it hissed and bubbled violently and the liquid turned an angry red. Kyeti turned to Forcalor once it seemed finished. "Is it ready then?"

Forcaloe watched the concogtion trun from yellow to red and he gave a nod.
"Yes it is done now, now you lean in and take in the fumes, it wont hurt you, but it might just make you a tad dizzy." He replied.
Now if her wish was really as strong as she had proved, she would be granted a new eye in place of the one she had just given up to make the whole thing work.
Forcalor watched with interest to see how this would turn out.

Kyeti did as was told settling herself over the rising fumes to take them in. It was a heady smell that tugged at her awareness. She could feel a burning where her eye had been and her good eye was itching from the smoke and steam, but she persisted inhaling the fumes like a fragrant perfume, drinking them in almost greedily. As she breathed in the concoction she had expected to feel lightheaded, but instead it was as if there was a weight behind her head drawing her ever near the fumes, a laziness perhaps that came with the expected dizziness. She pulled back slightly, afraid of getting too close but not wanting to withdraw fully from the fumes. She wouldn't let her effort be a waste. She would breath in the fumes until the pot boiled dry or it killed her if she had to.

Fortunately Kyeti didn't have to go to those lengths. The headiness had put her mind in a fog, but when the first jolt of pain hit her she snapped back into awareness all to quick staggering back dizzily and clutching at the poultice wrapped around her eye socket with an indrawn hiss. There was a mental flash before her eyes and then the strange burning sensation grew until Kyeti was biting back the urge to scream. Frantically she clawed away the poultice wrap and placed the heel of her hand against the tender socket with a confused and pained cry of, "What's ...happening!?" It burned as if her skin were on fire and the pain was growing so intense that Kyeti could feel herself trembling with it. The even stranger sensation, though, was the feeling as if something were growing inside the empty eye socket. Kyeti was in too much agony to hope for what it might mean. She dropped to her knees, both hands clutching her eyes as if to block out the light. Malah almost seemed concern, watching her owner with an unhappy glint in her eyes that said she didn't like what she was seeing and she certainly knew who she blamed for it. Still, though the pain got intense, Kyeti bit back the urge to scream clenching her teeth and locking her jaw against it so stubbornly hard that it should have cramped. She was curled up almost to the point of being in a ball when the pain at last began to fade. Even so, it was a moment or two before Kyeti finally deigned it safe to uncurl herself to her hands and knees for support still trembling and looking confused. What -had- just happened? Her vision was blurry and spotted and her wits were scrambled. She wasn't quite sure what had just happened but she felt like she should give herself a moment before trying to stand. She looked around through a haze that only showed her shapes and when she found what she thought must be Forcalor she looked at him and cried, "Did I do something wrong? I can't see clearly, Great One." There was a slight note of panic in her voice. She hadn't yet realised that her blurry vision was coming from both eyes instead of just one.

Well by the looks of it, the concogtion seemed to work nicely. Forcalor watched the fumes and the female inhaling them, knowing full well what was to come and so it did.
He refrained from stepping in when he could tell that Kyeti was in pain, this was something she'd have to go through alone and if she could do that, then she'd be all the stronger.

It seemed to him that the pain she was experiencing was quite strong.
He looked at the waterfowl, knowing that it didn't care for what he was responsible for one bit, but he couldn't care less about what a pet thought.

He moved over to her side when she was finally able to speak again.
"No you did it just right, your vision will slowly return, just relax." He replied.
He chuckled on the inside at the fact that she didn't seem to have noticed that her lost eye had been replaced.

Kyeti did her best to relax as he said, but it was hard not to feel a sense of panic when you couldn't see anything but blurry shapes. He was right, though, and slowly her vision cleared and she found that she could see ...no, she could See. Images and, for lack of a way to describe them, feelings...senses about things flashed past her vision and her consciousness so fast it was hard to make any coherent sense of them and after a moment she felt a low, dull throb in her head and had to squeeze her eyes closed again. Then the second realization hit her and she gingerly pressed a finger aginst what had just moments before been an empty eye socket. "H-how...is this possible?"

Forcalor let a chuckle out loud at that.
"You see, not everyone should mess with the stuff in that book, so some of the spells and such in it, requires the user, to give up something important, in most cases though, the spell replaces what was lost. Call it a way of knowing if the caster is serious about wanting this or not." He replied.
He was proud of her though, not many would go through with it when told to have their one eye taken out.
Now the real test of her strength would begin though, she would have to master her new, stronger powers of sight.
PostPosted: Wed May 13, 2009 2:32 am

"I do see," she murmured, and then a smirk spread over her face. "Must be a rather cruel awakening for those who aren't serious," she said with a tone of amusement in her voice. She hadn't even realised herself quite how badly she wanted it until after that first spell worked and brought Forcalor to her.

After a moment Kyeti dared to blink her eyes open again. The Visions still swam, but they were fainter, fading to a manageable dance in front of her eyes. It was strangely like hallucinating even though you knew beyond knowing you weren't. Kyeti could only assume that it would get better with time. She thought to ask, but some part of her was sure that it would just take some learning to figure out how to control it. Then again, perhaps it was something that couldn't be controlled. Only time would tell.

She stood and brushed the hair away from her eyes. She couldn't see it herself, but where once they had been a gentle mauve, now the color had shifted to an angrier red, a more subtle change in the eye that had not been removed, but in the other eye gifted to her by the spell the color burned vividly. As she focused on Forcalor several visions passed her eyes stronger than the faint montage that was always there, mostly just images floating around him, but one of them came as if a flash of a scene overtaking her vision for a brief second. She hissed and pressed her palm to her head again for a moment until the sensitivity passed. It didn't take quite as long that time, and she was thankful for that, but the images still didn't make any sense. "Must I learn to interpret what I See, Great One? The visions don't make any sense to me as they are."
