Joey Crash I got mid 39's the last time we went, 4th outright(spun out on the opening lap and had to claw back up through the whole field again from dead last LOL but it was more worth the money that way) Its really hard to relate though, I feel so overwhelmed by information and feedback in a kart. You're supposed to turn into the skid. xp

M8 by the time you sense the rear coming around in a Kart, it's too late to do that. You need to know what the tyres are doing(I can't feel that far down) hence why the best current drivers come from Karting, they can feel everything.

True, once the rear starts to come out, all you can do is not spin out. With the karts (especially the ones we were using), once you lose rear wheel traction at all, you lose a lot of speed. Maintaining momentum and traction is the secret to better times with these things. If I had super long arms and legs, I'd slide the seat all the way back so I can cheat and get more weight on them.
And no, my knees didn't get purple... but the sides of my lower back were killing me the day after because the seats aren't fitted exactly to me, and I'm not as fat as some of the other customers, so I had to fight against the centrifugal force on the hard turns and sweepers. My arms were also killing me, since there's no power steering either.

Yer. I'm looking at spending the next year and a half doing nothing but karts since the costs of circuit racing have risen, so its gonna be an interesting time to skill up before the new generation of drivers comes.

Wow I didn't know there was so much strategy behind karting, I've always just gone out there and tried my darnedest to not get the thing sideways and wash off too much speed. Because once you wash off too much speed, it takes way to long to wind up again.

There's a lot of thinking that goes into pretty much everything in the sport m8, steering the thing right is only the start of it. Its after that when the problems begin.

BLAMMO! Two laps ahead of the next best guy!  Placed 1st this time against another group. There were only four for this race. I don't like how they rank hotlaps, since it's only by fastest lap time. You'll notice that the "3rd" place person, actually lapped the guy who got "2nd." He was more consistent with his times, and the other guy just got lucky on one lap or something. On one of the first two races of the night before this one, I got "2nd" because someone's best lap was faster than my best lap by less than 0.1 seconds. It didn't matter that I spent most of the race ahead of everyone (after battling past everyone from 8th place!), and was the first one across the finish. The person who got "1st" on that one was actually the 3rd person across the line on the 30th lap (only three of us made it up to 30 laps in the 10 minutes given, everyone else only made 29 or 2 cool . In the second race, I placed 1st in lap time, and was at least 5 laps ahead of everyone. They were just some amateurs with some first-timer friends. Unfortunately, since I went through three different races with three different groups and didn't pick up my first two race sheets at the outer counter after each race (I stayed in the staging/prep area between the races), they got shredded into the paper recycling bin. Sucks because I really wanted the one with it saying I made 30 laps, while the next best person only made 25. So from the paper, I improved from 18.90 seconds to 18.35 seconds. I think I got it because I learned to take a better line through the "esses" and the long sweeper that gets sharper as it goes. I know it's only about half a second, but it seems the higher end guys (best laps of the day) are packing 17.5s... so half a second is a big improvement for me. If anyone notices, there was a 51 second lap in there because someone spun out and we had a caution flag. I still really need to work on my lines, though. I take my apexes way too early.

So then I did good as a kid when I held the slide the 2nd time I went karting? I karted before I could drive, I just knew to turn in. I must say I've alway been proud of that. Also when you watch those pro guys cart, they slide the car on some corners to get all sorts of interesting lines.
