Yeah, but who hasn't heard of them.
Most Japanese people x:

Most of my friends from Japan don't know visual kei stuff but they have all heard of Gackt and Miyavi. I have found that when those awkward silences appear or you need to break the ice you just mention Gackt or Miyavi.
Anyways, Panic Channel(usually known as Panic CH*) is a good band to listen to.

Hahahah...that is so true...a friend of mine was trying to hide his Gackt obsession from the new Japanese exchange students he is acting as a guide for because of their inevitable reaction...

::awkward silence:: "Oooh...he is so weird...why do you like him...?"

This is irrelevant to the topic but
there's a substitute that has the last
name, "Pierrot".
Anyway, Gackt is a good place to start. biggrin

I suggest X-Japan and Luna Sea. They're great bands.

Depends what you're into right now. Art-School and Plastic Tree are always good to start out with. I really recommend 9mm Parabellum Bullet if you're into a little faster stuff; they're intense but still have the alternative feeling.

That's not true. I can't even imagine seeing Masafumi Goto in eyeliner ... maybe Kita .
