She pointed towards the lake and and uttered something inaudible. The lake slowly freezes.
"In my homeland, most if not all of my people can munipulate water and ice. When a child can do that, they are considered an adult."

Far out in the center of the lake, the newly formed ice begins to quietly fracture, with tiny sounds like an ice cube dropped into a glass of hot water, inaudible from this far away.

She senses the change, the cracking of the ice, and gazes out in its direction, her fingers coming together in a modest steeple.

Natsuki sensed that the ice she summoned was cracking. The lake wasn't warm enough to do that and her ice was hard to melt. This bewildered her.
"Excuse me Aveto, I think i must investigate something." Not, waiting for an answer she summoned a chunk of ice and hopped on. Commanding it to the center of the lake, she looked at the eyes.
"...Is the scacred temple here...?" She whispered. "...It can't be..."

There is nothing sacred about the heat below as it spikes, melting a baseball-sized hole in the ice that probably opens out bigger below. And below the heat, the water tells anyone that has the power to listen that something is wrong with the space there. It's bulging slightly, like a screen door being pushed on.

A pale girl comes to the edge of the lake, looks at the ice, looks at her watch, then starts walking across it.

arrow By the time the pale girl gets out that far, the hole has grown to the size of a basketball. She looks at the hole, and then at Natsuki, and raises an eyebrow. "I don't think you're going to catch much in that hole without a rod, Nanook." And then she continues walking. Meanwhile, the space below the heat warps and bends, and something seems to peer through it. A vile presence touches the minds of everyone around, even those at shore, causing mild nausea and slight headache. That horrible mental touch then pulls away, and the depths begin to tear, the waters suggesting to Natsuki that this immediate area probably isn't a good place to continue hanging around much longer...

She wraps her arms around herself until the feeling passes, and then looks up. What, in god's name, is going on here??
She looks at the hole, and sees a hint of the evil things beneath, and stands there breathless, staring like a doe in headlights.

Well whatever is going on, I'm staying. I vow to protect this lake if it's the last thing I do. She thinks after the feeling passes. I best go check it out. Is her last thought as she plunges into the lake. Ouch! This water is like magma! Perhaps I can cool the lake down...

(Oh well, you had plenty of warning twisted )
All of a sudden, the space below rends violently, causing a violent outrush of water like a geyser from the hole... (1) ...but bypasses Natsuki. The ice, however, shakes, and the pale girl falls forward, dropping her bag.
The hot water, however, is now a secondary concern as a clould of thick oily ink pours from the hole in space, and a massive something emerges behind it.

Using her arcane gift, Natsuki commands the water to send her outta of the way of he geyser. What was that?!
