Our whole guard's pretty impressive. Won state in IHSCGA twice in a row, placed seventh at the WGI Championship at Dayton last year( seventh best in the world!) There's about 17 freshman on our 26 guard membership and all of them are throwing triples or higher on rifle.

Our freshmen can't even toss a flag, let alone spin a rifle. Tossing would be beyond belief. Heck, some of our vets can't even spin a rifle.

In my old HS guard (I just graduated, so I still sometimes say "my guard" hehe...) everyone had their triple by winterguard. At least. Vets had 5s.

My solo changed. I used to just run two yardlines; now I run - no - sprint halfway across the field, do a few counts of work, hold there until the 4th song starts, then sprint between two melophones (one of which is rather mean) to the back side line, then sneak quickly along the backsideline to my 4th song flag, where I proceed to pick up said flag and sprint into my set to begin the work. *sigh* It used to be so simple...

Yah in our Fall Show we all had to be able to toss a triple or else we turned into alternates for that part of the show. Which was the whole opener tune! So we were all tossing triples by September or higher. It was hard to learn because most of us (even vets) were new to rifle. Now most of us are throwing fours.

The entire weaponline is new. Like me? Yeah, I've had weapons two months and I'm on rifle/sabre line and front/center most of the time. It's awesome, because I have worked my butt off to deserve it. The entire sabre line learned at band camp. xd

It was crazy because I had come from a AAA Guard (Just a step about B) and we were doing about A class work. When we were doing rifle I was one of the worst ones out there, when they pulled me temporarally, I started to work my butt off. Jeff was saying that my work ethic has been incredible for a freshman and that I'm so much better. It's really great! Once I get techinique down I doubt I'll be anywhere but center tarp! I am one of the best preformers in the guard, but I need to work on sabre some more. I'm out of shape on it!

At almost the end of our last song, for five sets of 16, i walk up to almost the front sideline, toss away my flag, and go all crazy gymnast/contortionist on people. Its fun.
Backwalkovers into seals, breakdancing in splits, oversplit leaps, nightmarish back moves, yesh, its all here. Its all good. XDDDD

My instructor apparently doesn't believe in solos. The big "solo" is that at the end of a ripple I throw a quad (rifle) instead of a triple like everyone else. Not that I'm complaining that I get a quad, its just...can't it at least be a 5 or 6 if thats going to be the extent of the solos int eh show? neutral
