I'm probably considered a plus sized cosplayer, but I've really never given it too much thought...to me, if you're aware of you're body and what works for it, you should be able to pull off the majority of costumes (to a certain extent, of course).

Body image is one thing that really isn't really adressed by a lot of the cosplay world, and I think a lot of people assume you have to be a certain size to successfully cosplay, but some of the best cosplays I've seen have come from people that aren't a size 6.

That being said, sure I'd like to more resemble the characters I portray, but I'm not gonna let it stop me from doing something I enjoy. I think as long as you're comfortable and self-aware, weight shouldn't be an issue.

@ xKelpiex - like some others have said, I like your Makoto/Lita costume. ^.^ She was always my favorite and never got that much love from the fandom, so it's nice to see someone portraying her well.

Its hard to want to cosplay when your "plus sized" I get "when did ash get fat?" which stings just a tad. So I cosplayed wario, everyone thought it was awesome. And I get costumes that fit me pretty well. My ichigo top is pretty loose on me.

I am rather large as well and even though I love cosplaying, it can sometimes be annoying. For example, me and my two roommates went to AWA and Momocon 2009 as Mugen, Jin, and Fuu from Samurai Champloo. But the only person people wanted to take a picture of was Fuu, because she wasn't large....

I will always cosplay though no matter what anyone else thinks. It's far to fun to skip out on.

I have to say I think that last outfit is marvelous... I too am a plus sized cosplayer, but I do it anyway since I have found it to be a lot of fun.

Here's me with Patrick Seitz who voices Chopin in Eternal Sonata. I'm dressed as the main character, Polka.

OMG =OOO

I'm so jealous!!! I have never cosplayed before and I TOTALLY want to do Polka... but unfortunately I fail epically at anything artistic like cosplay... I'll probably be doing Angelic Layer next year at MTAC

but I do want to do Polka DX

i think everyone should be able to cosplay, no matter what the size is, how they look, etcetc. it's for fun anyway, no competition.

It's not about size for me, it's about the quality of work. If someone has an amazing costume, I am going to likely let them know, and take their picture. It doesn't matter to me if they are 100 or 300 bloody pounds. If a person has put real heart and effort into their work, they should be acknowledged for it, no matter what they look like. Cosplaying is for one's enjoyment after all. I am certainly no size 6, but that won't stop me, and if I get heavier than I am now, it still won't stop me. I really do hate the fact that people can be so cruel, and say such harsh things about a plus sized cosplayer. It makes me ashamed to be a cosplayer and an anime fan sometimes, I believe we need to support each other in this community, not tear each other down!
