Well…I’m finally at Shinkami. It’s rather exciting really, I just hope I don’t make an utter fool of myself. I’m afraid the impression I gave to some of the teachers wasn’t the best. But I actually met elves! Real elves!
Let me summarize it a bit.
First I met Nathaniel, nearly ran into him in fact. He’s a nice kid, science student with a pair of lovely green eyes. However I’m aware that he has some sort of issue lurking there, behind the friendly smile. I worry for him a little, and I hope I can get to know him better. Perhaps he just needs someone to listen to him.
Then I met Zach and Elijah. Zach looks like a punk, emo-type, but he really doesn’t fit the stereotype at all. He’s friendly and has an absolutely wonderful smile. Elijah is a cute, outgoing kid who seems younger than I am, but I don’t think he really is. He’s more talkative than Zach from what I’ve seen and DEFINITELY more talkative than I am. I fear I was bragging to them a bit…about my ability to speak Elven.
Apparently my Elven is a little lacking, because when I did meet a pair of the elves, Dante, as he was called, seemed not to like me, nor my warped version of his language. I hope I can get on his good side here as I’ll probably be studying under him at some point.
I did speak to one blond Elven woman, though, and she seemed to understand me just fine, and I understood what she said as well, so perhaps it isn’t as bad as all of that.
It seems that Elijah and Zach and I sort of hit it off, so I wonder if either of them would be interested in becoming study partners once classes actually get going…I just hope one of us actually develops a sense of direction…

I've gotten closer to Nathaniel...of all people, I didn't ever expect to be as close to him as I am now. He trusts me, and I have an odd suspicion that I'm really the only one here that he does. There's so much hurt in him.
However, this journal is the only place I can confide this information, I will keep his secrets for as long as he wants me to. He's my friend and I care very much for him. I never expected to feel protective over another, but that's how I feel about Nathaniel...he just...needs it somehow...he seems so vulnerable, hiding behind his smile...his facade of normality.
I'm so glad he trusts me...I'm delighted he doesn't hate me...that he's let me close.
I'm finally starting to make friends here. Isn't that good, Journal?

But I meant it, Nat, from the bottom of my heart, and now that I've sounded like a simpering girl far too many times in one letter, I will conclude with this. Even...if you cannot like me that way, please...let us still be friends?
