Generally, the best way to pronounce japanese words (or names, in this case) is:

a= aw, as in saw
e= ay, as in day
i= ee, as in meet
o= oe, as in moe
u= ew, as in stew

The "su" syllable is always pronounced fast (not sure if that is the case if the syllable is at the beginning). As said, you barely hear the "u" sound. Also, a general rule is that when a word or name has three or more syllables, the second one is pronounce quickly. So, in Daisuke, you barely hear the "i" sound, or the "u" sound. A good way to get more used to japanese pronounciation is to pick a japanese song that's a fairly good speed (not too fast), and print out the lyrics off of animelyrics.com. Then listen to the song and read the lyrics at the same time.

I learned from my Japanese/English dictionary. It has all sorts of stuff in it about Japanese words in it, like how some are taken from english and just made Japanese. Er.... that doesn't sound right....

Ex.) Kohi- (Co-hee). Sound kinda like coffee... cause it is coffee.

That's what I mean. It also has a whole chart of the characters, but I'll admit it doesn't have everything.
