I'm totally gonna twirl rifle next year. I've been practicing on it. I think it'd be a lot of fun to twirl sabre as well. I've just recently started practicing that one.. It's really not too bad... But then again, I haven't tried tossing it yet. xp

I fear for myself this winter. I'm gonna have to work my butt off. We have to be able to throw 4s, 5s, and 6s on sabre and rifle. Squeeeee.

o_O 4s, 5s, and 6s?!?! Geez! I can barely do a double at the moment!! I'm pretty sure the rifles do a quad at one point, but I've never seen any of them do a 5 or 6.

I don't know how rifle is going for you, but I know I struggled and worked my a** off for hours and hours, unable to gak a double until it just clicked. I'm consistent enough with my quads but my 5s and 6s leave much to be desired.

Yeah, that's about how it went for me. The problem is that I have a tiny rifle at home to practice with. It's like a 32" or something like that. And we use 39"'s for guard. So it's kinda weird going from one to the other.

I don't think I could even spin a 32". I believe we're using 36" right now, and I've spun with a 39" before.

Hopefully I'll make it this winter season. A few of our fall weapons aren't doing winter this year or are unable to spin weapon due to injury (one girl tore her rotater cuff in her shoulder), so maybe there'll be room for me this time.

Yeah, it's kind of odd.. I can't really do tosses too well with it. I've only managed to land the double on the 39".

Nice. Only two people in our guard can throw 6s, and only about 3 or 4 can throw 5s (One girl has her 7). It makes me sad, cause they don't even WANT to try. I miss my HS guard crying
My college doesn't have sabres. Which is great (I hate sabre work) 'cause that means more time for rifle (I love rifle <3)

Our guard is up to quads on 39"s all but one of our 6 rifles can do them. The other keeps injuring her thumb when she tries. We don't have sabre though and it makes me sad. Our director says that we probably wont have sabre until after I'm gone. *tear*

Not that I know. Just think about quality. 36" or 39" I would recommend and check the weight. Too light and they don't spin as nicely. Get a good quality strap, too. And before you use it, be sure to use strapping tape and tape under the bolt and where you beat it with your hand.

I made sabre line! One of six girls total. One senior, two juniors, one sophmore, two freshmen. I'm the only second year winterguard girl who made it too! I'm also in the humungasouras rife feature, (Toss a few singles, two tripples, and a five) but not on rifle line.

Put tape on both ends and under the bolt...of rifle I mean. And sabres it's intellegent to keep a strip along the blade on the underside of it. Dunno why, but that's how we've always done it.

We tape blade for fall only.

You can barely SEE it inside with the lights and the no tape-age... *shudder*
