He cringed, briefly, and turned his head toward his wings. Shuffling them again and folding and unfolding them, he turned back toward Suzuka. Inhaling deeply, and letting the breath out slowly, he waited a few moments before answering. Flying was not something he enjoyed at all, at one time, perhaps. But not any longer. All the mixed up feelings conjured up by that simplest of questions was shortened into one word.
"No."
The word itself was short, tense, and said through barely clenched teeth, which he forcibly unclenched. It was not fear of heights which kept him from the air, and he would fly occasionally if the need arose, but he would prefer walking over flying any day.

Suzuka looked at Justice with deep concern. Already she had offended him for the second time just in this encounter alone! She was feeling despair that maybe she couldn't ever pick the proper things to ask of him. Without having many options on how to correct this, her blue eyes scanned over the landscape. "May I ask what the land was like that you came from?" Aha! There was a single little yellow flower. She got up rather quickly and with a gentleness, she clenched her teeth around the stem to pick it. She came back over to Justice and set it down against the side of his hoof before she backed away again to lay where she had been previously. A silent prayer and hope rose that this peace offering would do the mending.

"It was...different. Darker. Colder. But it was pleasant nonetheless. Most of the time."
He did not know quite what to say about his previous home, there were memories associated with it that were not very pleasant, but there were some that were. It wasn't necessarily something for idle conversation. Suddenly he sensed her getting up, and when she returned, he felt something against his hoof. Leaning down, he sniffed at it lightly, and a grin crossed his features as he turned back to her.
"I thank you for the gift, tell me, what color is it?"
If she had any question about his sight now, it should be answered. Though he could sense much, color was not something that could be sensed.

"A darker cooler place... That is a land I have never seen yet. It sounds very intriguing." She was relieved he was happy with the gift of apology. "I could only find a little yellow flower. I figure since my words are almost useless, I would express through action." Suzuka smiled gently. "Although this is rather late, I want to welcome you to these fields Justice."
She knew now what she had before her: another fenya who was without sight but carried much more heart then she could ever have herself. Being that he didn't really seem to care to talk about it before, she left a small mental note in the back of her mind. "What do you enjoy to do when you have spare time?" Flying had been her love in the long run, but if he did not enjoy it, she would not ask him to come with her flying. So she had to figure out a new thing to invite him to.

He gave a small bow of his head in reply to her welcome, and smiled, picking up the flower between his teeth and tucking it back between his wings where it would be safe for the time being.
"Words are never useless. And actions can sometimes be misinterpreted. Combining the two you have expressed quite thoroughly an apology and acceptance of me. And I thank you for your welcome."
Thinking about what he did like to do when he wasn't just simply thinking was a bit difficult. Well, he walked occasionally, and other times he would sit and listen to the sounds of the fields. But mostly he would walk. And think. And sometimes think while walking.
"Mostly I think about things. But occasionally I walk, like I was just before you ran into me here. And sometimes I do both at the same time."
He grinned.

Suzuka blinked at his words a little. Did her actions and her words go hand in hand? Really? It would certainly be a first if that was really the case! She laughed lightly at his comment about his favorite hobby. "Do you enjoy the water or even to swim?" She wanted to get ideas of what everyone could do together and what better way then to ask?

"To be perfectly honest, I do not have that great of a sense of myself for air and water. If there is ground beneath me in the water, and I can sense where others are, it's not too bad, but lose that ground and it becomes directionless, and the water much like the air."
He gave an apologetic half-smile, it was more than he usually said to anyone about his dislike of flying, and water didn't come up very often. But she had truly been kind to him so far, and from what he could sense, she did not have ill intent toward him. It would not hurt to reveal a small bit about his discomfort.

"So you care for things you can sense just with your hooves..." She sounded as though she was deep in thought. Suzuka stood up and smiled brightly. "I just had an idea." The black fenya then titled her head. "Would you like to come with me? I want to show you an area of the fields that I think you might enjoy." She thought it could be useful to him later to know this section and he could enjoy it simply from walking through it.

He nodded and his smile grew, since it seemed she could understand what his dilemma was. When she stood, he tilted his head to the side, curious, and decided he would trust her in this.
"I would not mind at all. Please show me."
He smiled again.

Suzuka moved to stand beside him so that one of her ribbons would flow out to touch him as she moved towards the west of where they stood. "Since you are new to these grounds, I'll show you a place you can always come to relax. As long as you don't head further south from here, you won't encounter the lake." She wanted to try and be helpful and point out the areas he seemed to want to avoid.
If Justice paid attention, he would first smell a fresh, crisp, floral scent before anything else. The nightingales of the area had already started to awaken and sing softly. From where they sung, it was obvious that they were a few yards from the forest treeline. However, it wasn't long before Justice's hooves would trot through soft petals. Suzuka had led him to a flower field, full of different scents and life.

Following the ribbon and his sense of her presence, Justice smelled the multitude of flowers, and he lifted his head to inhale the scent fully. Then he heard birds, which he identified as ones he had heard in his own land once upon a time. When they got closer, he lifted his hooves briefly when he felt the softness of the flowers beneath them, and he lowered his nose to the ground, one hoof gently lifted off the ground. Then he grinned, turning toward Suzuka again.
"This is a beautiful place. The smells, the sounds... the birds remind me of some I had in my homeland. Thank you."
His voice was touched with emotion that couldn't quite be identified, he hadn't had someone really understand his desire for what beauty there was for one who couldn't see. And this fit the bill as well as something could. It would be a wonderful place to sit and think, immersed in what his senses could tell him.

Suzuka smiled at the sound in his voice. "If you ever need a guide around these fields, I would be happy to show you other places. I thought this one might be nice for you since its a place of rest. That way, if you ever want to lay somewhere and feel safe, you have a place of your own to call your grounds. I think most fenya should have a place in these fields to feel safe."

"I will remember to come here often, I think. It feels... wonderful. The sounds, the smells, the softness beneath my hooves. It's perfect. I believe I will come to you any time I need to find a place that I would want to feel comfortable."
He smiled at her, and once again took in his surroundings, breathing in the scent of the flowers and remembering the one on his back still safely between his wings that she had given him. Finding a flower that smelled particularly nice, he plucked it between his own teeth and laid it at her feet.
"A gift, for the gift you have shown me."

Suzuka smiled brightly at the flower that he had offered her. "Its beautiful; thank you Justice." She picked it up and tossed it in the air as she shifted to stand beneath where it fell. Her wings opened so that it would land between them.
"I will try to be in the main lands more often so that you can find me. Sadly to say, my area that makes me feel safe is by the lake." She did not want him to travel close to what made him uncomfortable just to find her. "Though I can't promise to come all that close should there be a large group again." Her curiosity peeked through once more. "Were the other fenya kind to you?"

He grinned a bit at the memory of the group. Especially of Almiro and his description of Justice being neat.
"They were, after a fashion."
He chuckled at that.
"I think I have an appreciation for the young fenya, they see things differently."
