Total necro here, since I finally finished the series too.
Okay, I kinda have to side with Artemis (the poster here, not the character) in that Entreri would be shocked and then just leave. From what I just got done reading, though Entreri has changed, that part of his life centering around Drizzt is over, and to go back to it would incite some painful memories.
As for the ending, I saw Artemis hooking up with Dwavel as soon as I finished Promise of the Witch-King when he started equating his feelings toward some of the other girls to that of his friendship with Dwavel. A shame though... I did like Calihye a bit.

There are a lot of threads here that I wish would stay active, so necroing pertinent threads to me is okay.
So what it sounds like is that Entreri has advanced in some areas and reverted back into others.
I like how Salvatore really opens up the character to us readers.

Indeed.. I would love to read more about artemis now.. Would it be werid if Artemis was to turn into a Paladin? Something that was the opposite of what he would have ever become?

That would totally make me laugh.
I do hate open endings though because I have an obsessive need to finish things up. Too closed an ending bothers me too, unless the author does a good job with it. I do have a few questions that deviate from the original topic, but...
1) Jarlaxle Baerne: did anyone else see that one coming? I mean, it was a nice twist, and it does make a little sense after a while, but that just blindsided me at the end of Servant of the Shard.
2) What do you think/hope happened to Calihye and the Citadel? (I just wanted her to go away after a while...)
3) Do you really think Artemis and Dwahvel are happy together? Do you even think they're really together or are they still just friends? (I go for the former)

1. I forgot what Jarlaxle did in the end.... sweatdrop It's been over a year since I last read the serie.
2. I always hated Calihye, so I don't care what happened to her.
3. It was odd that Entreri and Dwahvel got together, but it works. They both understand each other.

Big Spoiler: If I rememebr correctly.. jarlaxlejust let Enteri go.. He knew he was no longer the same person he met....
She was thrown out a window and left to die in the alley, untill Jarlaxle's preist or was it Kimmy.. Either one Brought her back from the brink of death, and took her as a slave
And Agreed.. Halfling and Enteri... Still.. If Salvatore ever picks up his story agian.. I have a feeling Enteri doesnt go back home.... But then agian.. He might.. Tho it wouldnt be as intersing in my opion...

The thing with Jarlaxle being a Baerne confused me a bit. Maybe because I don't quite understand the "sacrifice third son to Lolth" thing. Let me explain...
So, drow matron bears three sons, right? The third one is given to Lolth. Dead. Good. What happens when she bears another son? She keeps that one since it's the 4th one. But technically, it's the third living son. I think that always confused me. Man, Matron Baerne got really lucky with her kids.
Another question: Do we ever get to hear the stories of Jarlaxle and Zaknafein together? After all, it's been stated that they travel together, but at one point, Jarlaxle betrayed him... their adventures would be great to read.

I believe I heard a rumour that Salvatore would be writing a book about Jarlaxle and Zak's adventures together.
And yes, you've got that right about the "sacrifice third son" thing. Although, it is unclear if Baenre understands that Jarlaxle is indeed the son she tried to sacrifice, but I would imagine she does because that just seems unlike her.

Dead guild... great.
Actually, Gauntlgrym picks up with Entreri again. And he's not doing well. Went back to being an assassin, though that seems largely because he's under the control of his sword (now in another's possession). Due to 'drinking' a shade's life-force, he's practically immortal, and worse than where Jarlaxle left him. So, he's practically a slave and has self-issues again. It's also hinted that he had a falling-out with Bregan D'aerthe, though I suspect that was the other (truly evil) drow's fault and he only assumes Jarlaxle even knows anything about the incident. I really really want them to meet up again- if they don't, I will kill Salvatore. 'Cause I love those two. Waiting till the next book- though the fact that Jarlaxle stepped out of events at the end makes me nervous. More- on what happened when Entreri saw Drizzt. He was shocked. Which surprises me, as it's been nearly a century and Drizzt hasn't exactly been hiding. And what Jarlaxle did, saving Drizzt, wasn't exactly out-of-character, and Entreri probably knows Jarlaxle about as well as anyone. Artemis didn't seem angry or anything, just unsettled.

Yucale, I tried keeping it active, but only 3 other people would post and it got tiring when it was the same 3 or 4 people posting. *shrugs* Plus I got tired when 2 guild events in a row, NOBODY participated.
As for Gauntlgrym, I haven't read it yet (been focused in other books). I should read it though.....Entreri is back? Huh.....not sure if I wanted him back, but that's okay. I want Catti-brie back! LOL
