Ian unlocked the door to the very nice complex he lived in. He raked in alot of money, so this was only one thing he spent it on. He wasn't your genius diabolical schemer so he didn't need to worry about high tech devices, which was a good thing. Ian would probably just end up blowing that up... he didn't have much of a knack for his electronics. As it was he could barely work the tv remote. Because fo this, the house didn't have many things Ian could hurt himself with, just the basics, or something nice he could convince someone else to install.
The walls of Ian's apartment were covered with bookshelves. The shelves themselves were chalk full of different forms of books, some were for psychiatrists, others were no where near to the same topic. A particular bookshelf was where Ian headed. A small, nondescript black book was pulled out by one of his elegant hands. It was a journal of sorts. Instead of it carrying things in the past, it bound his ideas for the future. Inside was a good portion of the plans he devised for destroying the city. It wasn't that he needed a reminder of what he intended to do, but it was more like a set of goals for himself.

((I'm thinking this is going to be pretty boring until our characters are forced to interact. I have to admit they don't seem the kind of people who would really interact with each other given the choice.))

Ian stood atop a massive building. Many floors below him was the actual sidewalk he was preparing to destroy. The building he was standing on was only going to be there a few moments more. This was the exact center of the city, something not many people knew. Ian looked up into the hazy dusk, mentally saying goodbye to everything he was about to destroy. In his mind, this was something that had to happen. All of the other options had been forgotten and destroyed. His clothes were white in contrast to the coming night. The moment the sun dropped below the horizon was the moment he would become a scion of darkness. And in that moment the world will begin to crumble.
Ian stared at the descending sun, his shadow long and heavy on the roof top. He couldn't help the small smile that spread across his lips, the anticipation was thick around him. He had spent the entire day scouting the city for this location. The highest point in the city, as well as its center was easier to find than he had expected. The remainder of the day was filled with varifying that everything was in place, everything was ready for him. Bombs of darkness were crafted and placed in the most conveniant places. They would do damage as well as catch the attention of anyone remotely near the blast radius. Yes, everything was perfect.

Weylin was just getting off work that day as the sun went down. At the moment he wanted nothing more than to go home, make himself some dinner, and got to sleep. It had been a long day in the cafe where he worked. Everyone had seemed worked up, and the young man had to admit that he hadn't exactly been at ease either.
It felt like a storm was coming, but the sky had been perfectly clear all day, so that was not the explanation. Unable to put his finger on it, Weylin tried to forget the strange feeling. Going home and going to sleep was the best way to do that.

Ian took in a deep breath and watched the ants crawl beneath him. The time had come, the sun was finally setting. He took another deep breath and exhaled sharply this time, making the shadows reach from the absent sun. Tall black beings stepped from shadows. Ian's powers were taking full form now.
The darkness left by the absent sun took quickly, feeding off of Ian's powers. A hand of shadow reached Ian's face, keeping his visage from view. The creatures below each raished a long hand set with gnarled claws. They began lashing out at the mortals around them, making deep gashes.

The first scream he heard nearly gave Weylin a heart attack. He had not been paying attention to his surroundings, but as a bloodcurdling scream reached his ears he was thrown back into the present. His head whipped around and he froze in horror, watching a creature that seemed to be made of pure blackness cut down a woman on the street.
For a moment he could not move. Terror coursed through his body. Then the creature came toward him and the young man acted on pure instinct. The sidewalk between him and the creature broke apart, sending chunks of pavement flying as a spear of rock burst through and aimed straight for the creature's chest.

The creature took it plainly, far too stupid to consider dodging the deadly blow. The rock hit the creature, making much of the darkness it was made of splatter out and behind it. As the darkness hit objects and other people it hardened and solidified. This was sick in every way! But, the good news was was that the creature was destroyed... but there were many others wandering the streets!
Ian, atop the building, felt the blow to one of his shadows as if it was dealt to him. The pain passed in a few short minutes. He had never felt that before... was it someone striking back? he thought solemnly. But that wasn't possible, none of his theories would collaborate with that! He used the eyes of one of his shadows that were close to the destroyed being. He saw the red head... the same one from the park the other day. A low growl eminated from his chest, this was vexxing.

They could be killed, Weyling realized as the dark matter splattered the street and the people around. Whatever these things were, wherever they came from, they could still be killed by physical means. That gave the redhead reborn determination.
For the first time he used his powers in public completely aware of what he was doing and who would see it. But he didn't care. People were dying and he could do something to stop it. He would not let this continue. With a quick motion a fault ran up the sidewalk from where he stood, breaking the pavement in half and sending a skewer up towards every one of the strange shadow creatures that he could see.

Each one was hit easily, and each one created the solidified mess. One of the survivors Weylin walked past had the gunk on her face. Since the shadow parts had solidified it cut off her air way and she was slowly suffocating. This seemed to have happened to a few various people who were standing too close. Apparently even in death, they were still effective.
Ian growled again. This... child !!! had powers as well. This made the matter even worse. He might actually have to fight, something he was hoping to avoid. He thought quickly and realized how close to one of his set bombs the Irish man had wandered. With a flash of a smile he prepared to detonate it.

Seeing that the solidified mess was causing almost as much trouble as the living creatures, Weylin hurried to the nearest person. With a shard of rock as a pick he managed to calm the woman enough so that he could attempt to chip some of the stuff off of her face so that she could breath.

The slow chipping took far too long. Yes, he was able to save this woman before she affixiated, but the others who had the same problem were already dying.

Weylin realized this was taking far too long, but he could not think of another way to get the stuff off without hurting someone. He pressed the spar of rock he had been using as a chisel into the woman's hands. "Please help the others," he told her as she regained her breath, and withdrew another tool from the ground as he went to the next person he saw.

More of the black creatures made their way to him, their hands groping in front of them. A man was in the mass of them, walking towards Weylin. His clothes stood out in the utter darkness, the white almost like a beacon. His face was constantly in the dark, not a single bit of his features showed. The creatures that stood by him did nothing to him, they ignored him completely.
"You are the one doing this... trying to... 'save' them," he said, his voice soft and velvet. It was obvious who he was staring at, and that he expected some form of answer.
