I actually think the state should step in and make a coordinated, reliable, free public transport system.
just add a little bit more gas tax (or take the cash from the current one) to "encourage" people to take the bus biggrin

dont make the gas price go up itself though. then the free transportation wont be free D:
even though a free system sounds great, it wont work with the dumb economy.
...at least i dont think so.

until people realize that US currency is backed by nothing, I don't see how the economy could effect a state run thing.....
although, I'm not a politician/expert.
(no politicians are experts....)

Belgium has free busses (and trains to... I think). It feels unfair
That's just a couple of hours drive from here, and here it's so expensive.
Except ofcourse for my public transport card :3 you get one of those when you're 18 and are studying, you can choose between one that let's you use bus, train and metro free in the weekends or from monday till friday.

Encouraging people to take the bus is baddd, there are already so much people taking it! Look what happened to one of the busses in the city I go to school to.  Some idiot driver got out of his bus (luckily there was nobody else in it) to check if the road was doable. When he looked behind him he saw the bus rolling towards the water xP

here its not expensive.... if you buy a bus card xD
but its still not cheap >.>'' and there are so many people taking the buss xD
I rather walk tho >.>' its not that big
just a few KM or miles >.>
(depends on what shoes I choose ._.)
funny about that buss driver xD can't remember to use the break after parking xD
I guess the only funny thing that have happened here was when a bunch of kids dressed up as bandits and chased the buss throwing stuff at it.
the buss driver went insane and speeder up like crazy >.<''
and then a cyclist hit the bus >.>'
(well it maybe wasn't so funny.. it just sounds so stupid xD )

The busses I ride are pretty safe ususally sweatdrop
One time we got stopped by a policeman though :3 (there was something suspicious hanging on the bottom of the bus)

policemen might randomly stop ppl going on buses or trains to check their bags to make sure they aren't terrorists or have super suspicious things...
New York City drives me nuts.

yes, suspicious. ever since 9/11 happened its been double hell in nyc.
i've been here (in nyc) my whole life, but besides the stupid security crap, its a pretty awesome place to visit. lots of restaurants, places to shop and see and stuff, and just about every culture is there. living there is expensive though. but if you're a true city person then live there lol xD
but the public transportation there sucks. sometimes it is good, but i cant take the smell of pee or rotted garbage.
