As everyone one else has said, eat veggies, and drink water. something else that helps me is the decisions i make in day to day activities. for example, use the stairs instead of an elevator, walk or bike somewhere instead of driving, or take a long way around instead of a short cut. Every little bit helps.

maybe try some diet pills? they sorta help but in the end you still need to exercise. laying off the soda and sticking to water also helps a lot. do it for a few weeks and you should notice the difference.

NO!! No pills! No diet!!! well maybee diet...
I've had weight issues for cosplay, the reason I don't dare do anything skimpy.
Anyway... One of my good tricks is to eat a hell of alot of vegies!!! And yes replace all your drinks with water! (yes water is a good solution!)
When I wanted to lose weight for a con I would focuss on eating well and doing at least 30 min of excersise.
During my day I would have an entire vegeterian meal, usually for lunch and a normal but reduced size meal for supper. Plus I would eat more in the morning, hings like regular yogourt and hell of alot of fruits to get that metabolism working harder at burning calories.
It would be good to get at least some excersize during the day walking around he house, skip rope or something.
I think I manage to lose 15 pounds in a period of two months.

Losing weight is so damn hard, please don't result to pills and such.
Well I hope this was usefull.

Instead of diet pills which can be unhealthy, try natural stuff like B Vitamins. Those are found in foods like Blueberries and help you burn fat.

When you drink water make sure it's COLD water, anything HOT or COLD causes you to burn calories.

Splurge on getting Chicken and Turkey, instead of red meat.

Make sure to have some UNsatured (Healthy) fat when you eat salads, they help bring more goodies out of your salads.

Try using some spice to help make veggies taste better.

Try getting a Dancing Exercise video, that way it's more fun, AND you learn to dance!!

A good way to monitor nutrition is with a food journal. This ensures you get a healthy amount of everything but lets you see exactly what you need to cut. I am lazy about checking labels, and not all fast food has an easy to use chart listed...so I use sparkpeople.com it is a free site with a simple drag and drop calorie monitor that list most foods and beverages...I had to face facts about how much sugar is in a Sobe drink after a few days on this site. It also has a fitness planner that I haven't used, looks legit but I was in physical therapy when I started so I had my own routine and several helpful exercises were not good for me after a back surgery. Also, even tho everyone has said it...drink water. It really makes a difference, that alone helped with weight control while I was laid up in bed post-op. It helps the body recover faster and keeps things balanced...and if you drink the amount required you will not be as hungry. I started doing this awhile back and it has helped...but the first day or 2 sucked because I had to pee alot. It's a sign that my body needed to flush out toxins and such...after a few days things level off and you start to feel better. I would recommend a water bottle with measurements so you can see how much you drink in a day, also so you can always have it with you.

I usually work out for 15mins every night when i have a chance. Drink more water or tea(like the packs not the bottles) than soda. If i eat a big meal i try not to eat as much all day like if i ate 4-6 slices of pizza for lunch i try to eat a salad or something more healthy for supper.

Ah, I have a similar problem..... Where my parents control what's in the fridge and limit my ability to escape the house... (Also, where I live, getting too much sun can be not only tanning, but potentially fatal.)

That's a big reason I appreciate my Juujutsu class so much. Take up a sport (maybe at school?) or a martial arts class and get your parents to agree to make it part of your routine.

I was pretty round as a 10 year old, but after a year and a half of Tae Kwan Do lessons 5 days a week, I was a friggin' toothpick! eek

After I dropped out of that and had no means for an energy outlet, I actually resorted to pacing around the house in order to keep the weight off. (Which I survived on for 3 years.) I've heard that studies have shown that chronic fidgeters tend to have a lower obesity rate than people who sit still.

Refuse to eat any white flour at all. This is what saved me. White flour acts like glue in your body and stays in you making you unhealthy.

That is inaccurate... Enriched carbohydrates have been processed so much (by machines) that they immediately degrade to their simplest nutritional form as soon as they hit your digestive system......into SUGAR.

There's a book my mom read many years ago that's all about this principle, called "Sugar Busters". It's kind of like a precursor to the Atkins diet, but not as extreme. The solution, they say, is to avoid enriched grains and eat only whole grain foods. (And DON'T BELIEVE THE LABEL! Bread loaves labeled "whole grain" on the front will often have "enriched flour" or "white flour" listed as the very first ingredient on the back......it may have whole grain IN it, but for our purposes that isn't good enough.)

(Note: I never actually read that book; my mom just told me about it.)

My personal philosophy: Break all the rules. (This may work for some, traditional method may work better for others...)

Counting calories, logging what you eat, how much you eat, timing your exercise sessions, all seemed like too much work to me, ESPECIALLY SINCE I FOUND IT SO PAINSTAKINGLY BORING! gonk Therefore, I ignore my # weight completely (I don't even know it---could be anywhere within a range of 30lbs!), and just tell if I'm fat or not by looking in the mirror. If I'm "fit" or not by being able to do the things I want to do with ease, or not at all. (Like hiking and Juujutsu.) And actually working to satisfy cravings-----not based so much on flavor, but I find that my cravings often mean specific nutrients, like protein and fiber.....I HATE the taste of fruit, but once in a while my body just screams for it. neutral

There's another thing I heard about too, where you can accelerate your metabolism by getting into the habit of taking deeper breaths when you breathe. More oxygen in your system = more ability to burn what you eat. That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

Most importantly, do something that's also fun. (I'm trying to get on a diet of Japanese food! mrgreen )

I think this is the best advice here, you've also got to take it slow, you want to be healthy as well.
If you can't leave the house dance, it burns 95 calories for every 15 minutes and it's fun, I started doing it and now my mom and niece are doing it too. Its also a great way to relieve stress. Make a playlist and just go crazy.
Losing weight should be about feeling better about yourself and getting healthy, not just trying to be skinny.

Actually =/ diet pills aren't the bad guy here. The problem is what the over the counter pills do. They're water pills. They don't do anything as far as burning calories.

Me, I get pills from my doctor. They're not "diet" pills, they're appetite suppressants. I've found that this works amazingly. I've been on them for about 4 months now and I'm down 50 pounds. I'm monitored by my doctor closely. We've done several tests, I had to go through a bunch just to get ON the pills. But we have to do blood samples every two months, ultra sounds on various points every couple of months. Actually it was last month doing an ultra sound on my liver that we found a gallstone and so I had to go and get my gallbladder removed. If they hadn't found that then, I'd have been in severe pain later... the stone was the size of a green olive.

I also walk an hour a night. I'm going to start roller blading instead though because walking isn't doing much for me. I'm not feeling the burn anymore which tells me that my body has gotten accustomed to it. But, muscle mass burns calories at a higher rate than fat mass, so toning muscle is the goal here. Those skinny bean poles called people burn more weight just sitting in a chair than someone of my weight does. So, build muscle.

As far as eating, I'm surprised no one here has mentioned this. Doctors say do not eat three meals a day. They say to eat 5-6 small meals a day. See, eating small, protein-enriched foods every few hours keeps your metabolism running constantly. This aids muscle mass =3

and of course the obvious, eat better well balanced meals, less grease and fat, more vitamins and proteins. No more soda. Water or lemonade (I can't stand water so I get the singles mixers you put in water and make mine lemonade =3 ) is good.

good luck I hope everythings been working for you
