Roy lay in bed in his "room". He was busy playing some hand-held game with an annoyed look on his face. What started as a fever became something that Tylenol could not mend alone...what started as a sick day at home, ended with him getting diagnosed with a severe case of pneumonia and forced to stay bedridden in a hospital.

GAME OVER! The bold words appeared on his game screen. He was no good at this game yet he didn't feel like rummaging through the stuff his Grandfather and Sister left for him. He instead just turned off the console and placed it on the bedside table. His fingers quickly grasped a tissue feeling the presence of another coughing fit. It was the 3rd one he had today.

This would be his second day here and yet it was worst than the first day. Yesterday he really couldn't remember too well, Roy was too weak to remember through that morning and when he finally managed to understand what had happened to him, it was probably 11pm. Finally the fit died down, letting him toss away the tissue now stained with blood and mucus. Boy did he feel awful still.

We Must Be The Change…

Victoria was about to shove Tori, until he complimented her. She gave him an over-dramatic pouted lip and then smiled.

"Aw, aren't you the charmer?" she said almost sarcastically. She had no patients for a while and was getting tired of having nothing to do around her job. Of course, she did not want people to get mentally ill, but she, a very unsocial butterfly, found herself talking with staff members throughout most of the day.

Hearing coughing coming from beyond the surgeon's back, Victoria looked quickly into the pneumonia patient's room. As his coughing fit died down, she spied blood in the tissue he had been hacking into.

She tapped a nurse, who had been passing by, on the arm. Pointing to the patient, she muttered softly, "Could you get that boy's doctor? I think I saw signs of hemoptysis and he may want to get him set up for a CT Scan."

Of course hemoptysis, or the process of coughing up blood, did not have to be a serious thing. Usually it was just scary for the person coughing. However, it very well could be a very bad thing. Since Victoria was so far away, she could not tell how much blood had been coughed up.

Coming through the doors of the hospital was a pleasant-looking man, Wearing a nice teal sweater over a black turtleneck. He took a peek at a long slip of paper he'd brought with him, giving a confirming nod as he gazed about the building. "Well, this certainly looks like a hospital... I certainly hope its the right one. I can still hear that mean nurse squawking in my ear..." Wriggling a finger in said wounded ear, he glanced about some more, finding a directory that led him to the offices, not to mention clarifying the name of the facility.

Noticing other doctor-looking folk in the hallway, he made his way to them, chuckling lightly. "Oh, ah... Hello. Would either of you happen to know if my office is on this floor...? I was just transferred here recently, and I'm frightfully lost. My name is ...ah...oh yes. I'm Merrick Jourdain, the new psychologist. A pleasure to meet you all." He even gave them a light bow, feeling rather silly in his current predicament. Much to his surprise, two of the women by the coffee machine were absolutely stunning. However... one of them looked rather winded, clinging to the machine like a crutch. "Er... is she going to be alright?" He chuckled lightly, turning a smidge red. None of the women he'd worked with at the university were this nice-looking. It was going to be difficult for him, if he didn't take things slow. Seems the man wasn't quite equipped for inter-gender conversation of the attractive variety.

Turning to Jourdan, Victoria smiled warmly. "Another newbie," she said with a small shrug. "Welcome to you, too. I'm Victoria Mercy, the hospital's Psychiatrist." As she said this, she noted his bow. It was a custom in a lot of other countries, but it was a little eccentric here. She wondered to herself where he must be from.

"Your office is right next to mine," she said, pointing with her thumb, behind her at the two offices side-by-side. "Do you want me to help you get set up?"

Willow turned bright red, straightened up, smiled and bowed back saying, "Pleasure to meet you, I'm Willow Jones, the new ER Doctor. Now if you will excuse me, i see a patient that may need me," she ran over to the pregnant woman being wheeled in and dissapeard around the corner, still bright red.

"Dr. Fletcher, Please Report to Prep Room B. I repeat, Dr. Fletcher, Please report to Prep Room B." the nurse said over the intercom. "It was a pleasure to meet you and maybe we'll be able to talk more once we're not as busy." he said as he hurried off to Prep Room B.

We see a young medicine student rushing trough the hospital stairs, he's wearing a black scrubs, a pair of converse tenis shoes and a long sleeved gray shirt underneath his uniform, his facial fetures are quite delicate he also has long sideburns and the classic five o' clock shade.
But wait! hes sporting a leg holster with a beretta 9mm in it! he quickly draws the gun and starts shooting at the hospital crew members and patients! THEYRE ZOMBIES! stinkin', rotten, flesh eating zombies!
"damn it, im runnin outta ammo" he calmly replies, as he runs to the elevator. He pushes the button next to the elevator doors, soon the door opens revealing a pack of zombies!
"god i wish i had a magic leperchaun to help me on this kind of hairy situations", the zombies get nearby him, and he stars using some cool looking CQC techniques, disposing the zombies in a quick heroic manner
"just another day in my life" he says with a grin on his face
GAGA GAGA GAGA! his gakko alarm clock starts sounding...
we are now at the hospital rooftoop, and we see the same guy yawning and complaining " man... it was only a dream..." "oops, it's kinda late, i better get to class right now...."
He grabs his Harrison internal medicine book, and starts walking calmly to his class...

The redness in his face intensified, for various reasons. Sadly, it seemed as if he'd embarrassed the ER Doctor, which put a bit of a damper on his esteem. Still, when he heard Ms. Mercy speak to him, all was good and right with the world again. Her voice was soft and soothing, with an airy grace that made him feel like a cretin. Not only that, but what she actually said to him was some of the best news he'd had all day! He didn't only get to speak to such a lovely individual, but his office was adjacent to hers! What luck! perhaps things were looking up for the poor chap. "O-of course! I mean, ah... if you would, please, I would appreciate it." He chuckled, glancing at the floor and rubbing the back of his head. This was so difficult for him. He'd been left with a very appealing young woman, all on his own, with nothing holding up his weak esteem or unstable confidence.

"I ah... don't have a lot of stuff, really. I mean, I didn't bring a lot, since I don't do much. I mean..! Oh... do we have anything to drink besides coffee...?" He slumped some, having tripped over his tongue and fallen harder than the Indiana Jones boulder. His face was pretty red, so anything that could calm him down would be best at this point. Much to his great displeasure, that may require him to leave Ms. Mercy's company... an idea he sorely disliked.

We Must Be The Change…

Pretending not to notice that his face was turning red, Victoria laughed and took another sip of her coffee. "We only have coffee, and only bad coffee at that. Sorry," she shrugged as she said this, keeping her attitude light-hearted so as to welcome the new guy. "I suggest that you lean to love it, though. You'll be in and out of here so often that caffeine may be the only thing that keeps you going." She took one more drink and muttered, "At least that's how it is in my case."

A few hours later, Willy collapses onto a staff room couch, exausted. She had just helped deliver a set of twins, and she was beat. She couldn't stop working, though, so she got up and roamed around the halls of the ER, checking on the patients there. She couldn't stop thinking of the new Doc who she met at the coffee machine, though.

Jourdain was welcome to the sound of laughter, even if it was a chuckle of pity for him. He waved his finger, pulling a fairly large, yet lightweight box out of his belongings. "Ah, well, I can fix that rather quickly. I had a feeling this place might be short on... recreational beverages, so I took it upon myself to bring a hefty supply of English breakfast tea. I'm not sure about the others' preferences, but as long as there is hot water, I will not be without my morning drink. Take that, coffee! heh..." He smiled a little brighter now, feeling a bit less pathetic. "And I get this aromatic delight by the truckload at home, so anyone is entitled to use it at their leisure. To those of you who actually like...coffee... well, you have my condolences." he laughed again, straightening up a little. His silly little victory over the bean brew had livened his spirit, even in the presence of the lovely doctor.

The strange, yet eager European man even managed to bring his own personal tea cup. "Do you like tea, Miss Mercy?"

We Must Be The Change…

Victoria could not help but laugh at his behavior at such a small accomplishment. She could tell already that he would make a good coworker. A light-hearted and free-spirited soul was a good one to have around in a place that wreaked with the stench of death and dying. A hospital was not a particularly pleasant place to work.
As a response to his question, Victoria gave an honest shaking of her head, her sweet smile remaining. "I'm a water person. I don't like too much taste in my beverages. That's the way it always has been. I was never very much into flavourful foods, either. I can't stand spicy things."

Merrick was a little to hear of Ms Mercy's preference against tea, but it made more sense when she mentioned water. Water was probably better for her in the long run, and her being a doctor, that made sense. "Well, then... more for me, I guess. Hehehe...still, if anyone else wants some, I haven't recoiled my offer." He was still a bit red, but the longer he spoke to her, the more he could tell... Ms Mercy didn't seem to care in the slightest. That being the case, trying too hard would be a great waste for him, so he tried to regain what little composure he had. That is, of course, until Ms Jones caught his eye again. "Pardon me, Miss Mercy, but how long has she been here? What was her name... Miss Jones? Willow, I think. She seems like she's in quite a hurry, even though this part of the hospital seems fairly tame... at least in comparison to the other wings. I didn't, ah... offend her, did I?" And just as quickly as it faded, the red returned to his cheeks, caused by a gentle blend of concern... and boyish curiosity. Merrick wasn't the only one who'd caught someone's eye.

Laying in the bed while staring at the cieling, Roy had come to a phenomenon...Roy was bored. Even so, his head still was pounding like mad so he didn't have any desire to actually even lift it for a second to find a new game. His eyes rolled around the room for anything else...TV perhaps...but the remote was by the new games.

"Dammit..." Roy cursed as he decided to go for a game, but without even rolling over to get it. He just simply lifted his hand and began to sweep the bedside table for anything that felt like a cartridge. Magazines....books....flyers his grandfather gave him (like Roy would ever read that stuff)...some pictures...BINGO! The small plastic cartridge swept underneath his fingertips which he gently sweeped up with his hand. His free arm immediately grasped onto the game system and lifted it to his face along with the new cartridge.

"Guess this will do..." He sighed noticing that this game was one he already beat...yet did it really matter? He could probably play it again but this time attempt to get the extra accomplishments. He gave a cough as he slotted in the new cartridge into his DS and started the game.

"Don't worry, miss. All we're going to do is take out the bad parts of your throat, then when you wake up, you get to have all the ice cream you can eat." he said as he placed her under the sleeping medicine. "Lets begin." he said as he made the first cut. A few hours later, the young lady was being pushed out of surgery and the relieved looks on the faces of the parents was enough praise for him. "Your daughter is a real trooper and she should be getting her voice back, we'll say around 2-3 weeks. Until then, just make sure she gets plenty of rest and try not to have her speak as much until her throat starts feeling better. Anyway, she should be just be waking up so you can visit her and I'll have Dr. Cameron schedule a visit after 3 weeks, just to make sure she is doing okay." he said and handed them a piece of paper with a phone number on it. "If you need to reach me, this is my cell phone number and my office number incase you need to reach me." he said as he went off to check on another patient of his.

Tori merely knocked on the door and entered the room. "Hey Roy, hows your head today?" he asked.
