Daisy, her brain nearly fried, stood still, raising her arms slightly to the sides of her head.
"I'm unarmed," she said faintly.
KchrrHu did not move, but remained firmly rooted to the concrete behind Human, looking at the backs of her legs.
He bobbed his head in an angular fashion, clicking softly.
Daisy turned to look at the hovering creature that had just hovered into her midst. I'm going to die, she thought simply. The robot's going to kill me, and then the Nightmare is going to eat me. I'm going to die.
She breathed calmly, her hands still raised.

Daisy shivered involuntarily, and shook her head very slightly. She didn't know.
Kchrrhu remained still, clicking once, and licking his eye.

Daphne spoke. "Well she isn't armed."
BaltizR motioned for her to come towards him. "Come this way."

Daisy's lip quivered. Her arms dropped to about chest-height.
"Please don't kill me," she whispered, terrified.
She walked slowly towards him, her arms still half-raised.
KchrrHu did not like this. Ugly metal thing was going to take Human.
Human was KchrrHu's.
KchrrHu rolled to the side, over-dexterous fingers gripping the wall behind him. He cllimbed up and along the side of the wall with amazing speed and insectlike fluidity.
Daisy screamed.
KchrrHu lunged at BaltizR, jagged fangs outstretched, fingers reaching.

A pistol-like barrel flipped out of BaltizR's left arm as he aimed, then fired a flare inbetween KchrrHu's eyes. He then moved to the side to avoid KchrrHu's lunge.

KchrrHu let out an otherwordly wail and fell, clutching his face. He hit the ground, scratching at his face furiously. He stopped, and looked up at the metal person, his opalesque black eyes clouding, like someone had poured milk into them.
He darted away, back behind the rotting fruit stand.
There was slence for a few moments.
Daisy finally found her voice.
"Is he gone?" she asked softly.
Her sentence was answered as a soggy, browned fruit came careening towards BalitzR.

The fruit broke into a sloppy mess as it connected with BaltizR's head.
"Grrr"
He air-dashed towards where KchrrHu had ran, knocking the fruit stand out of his way.
"Your not getting away!"

KchrrHu was just slightly faster than the big metal thing. He was up on the side of the wall, still pelting a rotten peach at BalitzR's form. Then he was behind Human's car, throwing an orange that was now more green. Then he was behind Human. He hunched slightly, gripping Human's arm with his right hand, and peeking under the crook of her elbow.
Daisy straightened up, shaking violently. The Nightmare's hand felt slightly sweaty over her forearm. She glanced back at the creature, and was surprised to see something resembling a female.

He followed KchrrHu's movements to the best of his ability, until it had placed itself behind Daisy. "Dam."
"It seems pretty attached to the human." said Daphne.
"Well I need the human so I can get a sample."
"Just walk up there and get it, so we can be on our merry way."
"And leave it with that . . . other thing?"
"Well what do you suppose we do?"
"Hmm . . ." BaltizR then spoke to KrrcHu motioning and emphasizing his words. "Hey...Thing, We, Need, The, Hu-man." He pointed at Daisy. "Will, You, Allow, That?"

Trapped, standing squarely between the Nightmare and the Android, Daisy suddenly felt as if she fully understood the meaning of the term "Between a rock and a hard place".
KchrrHu licked his eye, and twitched his head to the side violently.
"Human's mine," he said in a gruff voice that had all the characteristics of sand. "You don't get Human. Human's-- what's your name?" He adressed Daisy, the dark eyes gazing up at her.
Daisy couldn't speak for shock, but for only a moment.
"I-I-- Daisy," she replied.
"Daisy's mine," KchrrHu finished simply.
A screeching, broken-glass voice replied before BaltiziR could reply.
"HaTe To InTeRrUpT, bUt ThE HuMaN's MiNe. YoU CaN't EaT hEr, UnDeRlInG. nOr CaN yOu HaVe HeR, yOu UgLy RuStBoX."
Daisy clapped a hand firmly over her left eye socket.
"Shut up, XhitHo," she hissed. "You really don't need to talk right now."

BaltizR and Daphne were quiet for a few seconds, in shock from the sudden voice coming from Daisy.
"How did She talk without moving her lips?"
"Very good questions Daphne. Now we definitely need her."
BaltizR then picked up an nearby stone, and with great precision threw it directly at KchrrHu's face, hitting him between the eyes yet again.

KchrrHu learned how to read from picking the fractured brain of his host. He especially liked the stories (he knew that they were the stories little children were read, but due to his less than miraculous mental capacity they were some of the stories he enjoyed the most when he found them lying in abandoned houses, or sitting pitifully in broken-in bookstores) about knights and princesses, dragons or monsters. Kneeling beside Human-- Daisy, he felt suddenly as if he should be something of a knight.
KchrrHu let out an ugly squawk and lurched back, clawing his face with one mutant hand as the rock struck him, but righted himself immediately, pulling Daisy with him with an arm around her waist to cross the street.
Daisy let out a scream as the Nightmare dragged her across the street.
XhitHo snapped at him.
"I tOlD yOu ShE's NoT fOr EaTiNg!!!!!!!"
KchrrHu righted the girl on her rear behind a car parked at a crooked angle to the sidewalk.
"Not gonna eat 'er," KchrrHu said simply.
Daisy felt as if this was the only good news she'd heard all day. Unable to think of anything better to say, she simply said, "Thank you."
KchrrHu regarded her for a moment, his black eyes skipping over her form, before turning them back to the Metal Thing. One eye looked at the thing that wanted his human, while the other scanned the ground for broken glass, dirt, old shoe...
Rock.
There were several big rocks lying scattered on the ground, possibly from the pavement being broken by a large Nightmare, possibly from something else.
KchrrHu didn't care. It was ammunition.
KchrrHu grabbed one, clutched it deftly in his over-dexterous fingers. He aimed, his arm twisted back behind his ratty head.
His little brain processed the speed, distance, his aim...
He threw, the rock flying with amazing speed, directly at what would be the Metal Thing's right temple.

Daphne yelled in shock. "Look out!"
But by the time BaltizR processed a maneuver the rock connected with amazing power, causing him to stagger.
"Shah! Daphne are you ok?"
"F**ne . . . I thi** . . . dama**d **o**." Replied Daphne in a crackled voice.
Now slightly angered, BaltizR let out a short burst from his feet, launching himself towards KchrrHu. As he flew closer his forearms deployed, hands grabbing for the Nightmare.

Daisy screamed.
KchrrHu let out an ugly, gasping wail as the Metal Thing's hands closed around his throat. He clawed at them, kicking at the rest of the Metal thing. He writhed in the grasp and spat.
Daisy felt horrible, watching the two fight. This Nightmare had very uncharacteristically saved her life with no intention of eating her. She felt as if she owed it to the thing to save its life. She looked around frantically for something to halt the robot's attack.
There was another rock.
She snatched it up and dashed to the back of the robot. Raising the stone over her head, she brought it down hard, the stone making a loud noise against the back of the robot's metal skull.
She repeated this motion several times.
