Allow me to make light of this subject. As to whether smoking weed causes cancer, it doesn't and has never been linked to cause it. 90% of all lung cancers are attributed to the radioactivity present in cigarette smoke. Tobacco is usually farmed using phosphate fertilizers, these fertilizers decay something known as lead-210 and polonium-210. Those two compounds are highly radioactive, The trichomes on the tobacco leaf sucks up these compounds and are released when smoked. A simpler solution would be to not farm using phosphate fertilizers.
All smoke is damaging to the lungs.

The Hemp industry would quickly overtake the lumber industry, saving millions of acres of forests from being chopped. Hemp can be made into many things, ranging from rope, bags, clothes to bio-degradable plastics and biomass fuel. The revenue of the hemp industry would be absolutely ridiculous. And thats just hemp.

Recreational Cannabis use would most likely be taxed heavily but with legalization the over all price for a bail will shoot down quite a bit, which means it will still most likely be 1g mersh for 5 bucks half of which would go to taxes. Which is the average street price.

If legalized the tobacco/pharmaceutical companies would take quite a hit. We need those industries put in their place, they have been running the government for too long. Millions of dollars are paid by those industries to spread propaganda about weed/hemp. And before them it was the lumber industry who got so scared they decided to spread propaganda like "it causes Negroes to make jazz music" "causes Negros to rape white woman", all because Harry Aslinger didn't want his lumber stocks to plummet and instead rise. Most of the negative images people have of weed are left over from that propaganda.

And lets not forget to mention that Hemp was an integral part of our economy during the early to mid 19th centuries and even all the before that, until the cotton gin made mass producing cotton much more profitable.

Did I also mention the hundreds of millions that would be saved from not having a drug war against weed? Yeah. a lot of prisons are made up from petty pot charges, your taxes are going towards them and to the DEA to catch these "criminals". I'd rather save a bunch of cash.
