Dear Diary
Looks like this is the first entry! And it's really late at night too. It's almost been a year since I came to this house, isn't that cool? They're thinking about doing a party even! Jess likes hte idea, she wants to invite some of our other friends over. We're going to watch movies with cute boys, on those ... deeveedee things. It's been a year and I'm still confused by Muggle things. Stupid, right?
Seeing as you're a new diary, I'll explain stuff. Hm. Ok. Firstly, I've been living here as a boarder for almost a year because my Mother and Father decided I'd be better here. (I guess you know that.)
Maybe you expect me to be sad? But I'm not! See, every summer for as long as I can remember, Mother and Father took me to this place. And I made friends with this girl, Jess, and her parents, Myra and Andy. They became like... like another family. Jess is defiantly my sister, sometimes we joke about how she and I must have been separated at birth or something. She looks nothing like me though, but that's ok!
So Mother was kind to me and let me remain here till Hogwarts, and after, till I was a witch of legal age. Me and Jess have decided we're going to rent a place in London after this, or in one of the magical towns.
Okay, so I came here and it was really hard at first. Like... I had to make sure I never did much wandless magic. All witches and wizards do it, but I never noticed how much till I was living in a Muggle community and had to try and prevent it or lie about what it was! Once, when boys were throwing rocks at a horse, I turned the rocks into jelly by accident.
And then when in the house, Myra, who's a witch, she gave me a whole bunch of rules. She doesn't use magic unless it's between 9pm and 7am. She can't cook Muggle way, so ANDY cooks! I never thought a MAN would cook! And cleaning and stuff has to be done Muggle way. I had to clean my room, and I hated it. I still do, but you get used to stuff. So when I got into the house, I was given my own room and told that it had to be cleaned three times a week, that the bed had to be made, and that if I wanted to play with wizarding things, I had to shut my curtains.
But even with all this new stuff, it wasn't too bad. Because Jess has a bedroom next to mine, so we sneak in and out of our bedrooms and have fun. And she knows all about how to live like a Muggle, so all I have to do is ask her. I never feel stupid, and she even helps me with coins. If anyone gives us funny ideas, I turn on my Australian accent and she tells people that I don't know how to figure out English money.
That's another thing about me, diary, I'm half-Australian! It means I get some weird accent though, and it gets worse when I'm tired. (That's what Jess tells me, anyway.)
I know I've rambled, I'm sorry.
But now that it's nearly time for the letters, I'm all excited. Letters from Hogwarts! We HAVE to get one each! Me and Jess could go together and everything! And we could eb in any house, as long as we aren't separated.
We have to be separated a lot already, see. Jess is all sick, and so we cant' sneak into each other's rooms. But Myra says that Jess should be okay by the party if we have it. And if she isn't, she'll take Jess to the doctor.
I think that when I got to Hogwarts, I want to do Muggle Studies. So when I come back here, I'll know all kinds of stuff to tell Myra.
And I can hear someone walking around out my door, I think I should go to sleep now.
Night, new diary!
Lisa.
