Steve chuckled, "I will be the paragon of good behavior!" He said, bowing again and moving over to pack up his guitar. "We should head to the cafeteria, it's the only place I know to get a drink, and as far as I've seen the food's free, so might as well make the best of it no?"

He smiled and once he got the guitar all squared away he slung it over his shoulder and waited for her to gather up her things.

Steve blinked. NOBODY KNEW THAT ALIAS! Unless they knew about his uhm... brushes with the law... and only a few girls at the school had cared enough to listen to that story... and... Wait a minute...

HAH! She did know him! Hot damn, maybe he had a chance after all. Smirking he chuckled and bowed his head. "Of course M'lady," he bowed and offered his arm, knowning she probably wouldn't take it.

Steve chuckled and walked quickly to catch up with her, walking beside her. Not too close, but not too far away either. He was being a gentleman after all. "Why I worked here? Well long story short, I got tired of sleeping in cardboard boxes and they offered me a better deal... So..." He shrugged and looked up at the sky.

"My life's been none too easy. I graduated Highschool and then picked up what jobs I could. Moved around a lot... Had a few brushes with Jhonny Law... Nothing serious, just stupid shi...stuff..." He said as he looked over at Sarafina.

"Spent some time in Saffron as you know, saw you around, never thought I'd see you again, your friends said you were so excited to be heading off to college... They said they wanted to get me to play a party for your going away, but said you'd freak if there was a guy there..."

Steve swore under his breath and pounded sand behind her, she was upset and it kind of was his fault for bringing up bad memories, or what he assumed were bad memories. If she hated her father...

Well her father sounded like a jackass, and let's face it, jackass stepfathers sucked. Steve wasn't in the personal know but he could feel her pain.

Still, he felt guilty, so he had to make this right.

STeve reached her shortly after, thankfully not out of breath. He'd kicked smoking a few years back and thanked the legendaries for it every day since, his lungs no longer burned when he ran. He was torn between doing what instinct told him was right to do, and doing what reason told him what was right.

So he did both.

Moving over to her, he placed a light, easily removed hand on her shoulder. "You okay? I'm sorry if somethign I said upset you..."

Steve shook his head, and gently placed his hands on her shoulders. "I don't know about your dad, I really don't. But you're safe from him, especially here. I got hired to do security, I ain't gonna let that b*****d touch you again, you have my word." He'd of apologized for his swearing but he didn't feel the need, he thought he'd summed up her stepfather rather well.

"I've got your back, I ain't gonna let nothing happen to you, not on my watch," He let go of her shoulders and looked into her eyes. "I promise, or my name ain't Steve "Bite Me" Callahan."

STeve wrappe his arms around her, keeping them in the "safe" places on her body, and he held her close to him. "Then be free Sarafina, be free, cause he's never gonna stop you again, I promise. On my life I promise."

He was a gentleman at heart, maybe a bit rough around the edges, maybe a bit of a horndog... Okay a lot of a horndog... STOP LOOKING AT ME! GOD!

Ahem...

Steve was a man of his word, and he would not let Sarafina be hurt by anything. Not a good idea to let prospective tail get damaged... But he really didn't think of her like that. She was a good girl, a sweet girl. He remembered wanting to get to know her, and that still held true today.
